Went to netcost today to return a loaf of bread that cost $2:89 its expired today but grew mold 3 days prior. I have shopped here for years never returned anything this was my first time. Ive had molded chocolate and rancid yogurt and one time a hair in the cooked food (an empanada to be exact and yes I have pics) but never returned any items (do not buy the cooked food I post about that later) But to the issue at hand I asked the cashier about returns and she said I couldn't return it because I didnt have a receipt so I asked for a manager a lady was called who was not a manager either, neither spoke english well in fact the cashier had to translate she also said no, neither were helpful. There was no manager at the store this was at 4:40pm. Instead she gave me a number to call which was "customer service" a lady answered and I told her the issue...she transferred me to a guy I told him the issue he said I should sign up for the free netcost membership then I would not need the receipt. However their policy is you can only return food items within 2 days of purchase even if it spoils after 2 days but not expired? So what he told me was pointless which I told him. He keep apologizing but DID NOT FIX THE ISSSUE. This makes zero sense and leads me to believe that they change dates on products and sell expired items while refusing to exchange the items. This seems to be a complaint of other customers. So I will be reporting them to the BBB. Hopefully you will fix your issues or you WILL BE EXPOSED by folks like myself. While I will not recommend going there as there are much better groceries who are much more accommodating in the neighborhood. I will keep shopping here occasionally and expose them every chance I get. As this is unacceptable for a $2:89 loaf of molded bread. DO BETTER .... Feel free to reach out netcost management your customer service is non existence a phone line solves nothing its a waste of money and time. Thank you

The staff here is very helpful. Easy to find things. The food if fresh usually, never experience any old produce from this place. The atmosphere in this store is really clean, well organized too

Praga cake, Which is not even near to original one

We came to buy a Praga cake, and after opening it we discovered that it was a regular American kind cake, with white layers inside(but Praga cake is supposed to be chocolate!) We got disappointment, as we drove all the way from Nassau County to get it:( Do not recommend buying it!!!

They sell rotten products. The money was not refunded!!! It is not expired by date, but there is spoiled meat inside. Perhaps they are re-pasting the price tag. Be careful.

Netcost has done extensive renovations since covid. The space between aisles are bigger and the flow is a lot better since they moved the exit to the other end of the store. However, there are not as many brands to choose from since they did reduce shelf space. Also it seems like the prices has gone up a bit from before covid but I think that's a nationwide trend.

    A very good produce section

Pretty awesome spot!!…read more I can speak for the smoothie/juice bar which is an extension of the market area. Based off of first impression this spot is very clean. They have the fruits and veggies ready to go and all of them are bright and fresh. Nothing looked like it had been sitting out. The service was quick and friendly too. They also have free samples of hot apple juice. I tried the one with pomegranate and it was delicious. Literally the most perfect fall treat! What we had: - Yellow Power Smoothie: my husband got this and he says it was really good. It was perfectly balanced and he drank this one pretty quickly! - Build your own Juice: love that they have this option! So helpful when you don't exactly vibe with any of the ones on the menu. I chose one with carrot, orange, and watermelon. The juice was perfectly balanced! I tasted hints of all the components in every sip, not too much of any one ingredient. I would definitely make this my go to spot for juices and smoothies if I lived in the neighborhood. 100% recommend!

My…read morehusband and I LOVE that they have a 24-hour juice bar that serves fresh juices and fruits. They have about 14 different types available (7 juices and 7 smoothies), though you're also able to create your own. We love that they use FRESH everything in each of their recipes! You can literally watch them grab the fruits and veggies needed for your drink as they place them into the juicer/blender. It's very reassuring to see this as you can't always trust fresh ingredients are being used in other places that make smoothies. When ordering a smoothie, they'll ask what you want for the base. The options are Apple juice, coconut water, almond milk or water. We almost always choose coconut water as it's a great source of electrolytes AND tastes absolutely delicious with any of the smoothies using tropical fruits. They also have a delicious Apple cider tea! It's always out (hot and fresh), they have about 4 different varieties and they allow free samples. I love the clove and ginger flavor and my husband loves the ginger honey flavor. You can purchase this as an individual cup or as a half gallon or gallon option. I can't wait for autumn to hit as this tea is PERFECT for a chilly autumn day! And I plan to purchase in bulk to keep at home so I can indulge without having to walk so far every time I want it. Our new Sunday ritual is to buy our produce and then grab a juice/smoothie from here. We love coming here and I'm sure you will too!

I'm in my fourth year of membership for this CSA and it's great. I get the freshest veggies and…read morefruit ever (fresher than what I've gotten at the farmers' market!) delivered locally to the Forest Hills Jewish Center. The amount of veggies and fruit delivered is likely too much for a single person like me so I split my share with a friend (or two). What I've loved is learning about new produce and supporting local farmers. I now am pretty expert at cooking with kale (hated it at first), garlic scapes, kohlrabi, celeriac, purslane and so much more. The farm we support believes in producing hearty, healthy, organic veggies and you'll see loads of them in the deliveries each week. The CSA gets produce delivered from Golden Earthworm Organic Farm on LI, fruit and berries from Briermere Farms on LI, grains/four/amazing beans from Cayuga Organics near Ithaca NY and then usually another farm for garlic, cheeses and jams that are offered during the season. Since the pick-ups are at the FHJC, all of the items are kosher. Sign-up is only during March/April and then the season starts just after Memorial Day and runs through the week of Thanksgiving (26 weeks - weekly pick-up). There is also a winter season with root veggies that runs from Dec-March where the pick-ups are every three weeks with more carrots than you might know what to do with (make Carrot Candy -- great recipe from Mark Bittman that I swear by). Overally, a wonderfully run CSA and I'm glad to to be a member. This year, you can pay for your share by PayPal (so I guess they sort of accept credit cards too).

I was wondering: green market vs a CSA? Since the Forest Hills greenmarket and Tuv Ha'Aretz CSA…read moreare in the same location, it really came down to cost and choice. You have to sign up and pay in advance for the whole season, usually in the spring. I emailed tuv@fhjc.org to get on their list and to inquire about availability before my first year as a CSA member. Volunteering is required (help at share pick-ups, newsletter writing, deliver unclaimed shares to the food bank, unload the delivery truck, events, etc.) keeps the costs of the shares down; I have been part of a CSA where volunteering was not required, and it costs over double what I pay at Tuv Ha'Aretz, so it's well worth the pay-back of volunteering for a few hours. In terms of cost, the CSA wins -- at about $25 a week, it's a bargain. For the same amount of vegetables, I can pay about $40 at the greenmarket. In addition, I enjoy playing a version of "Iron Chef" against myself -- use up all the vegetables and fruit we get (after all, wasting the vegetables is a waste of money, too). They're chosen by the farmers, so the delivery is often a surprise and an education when we get things we haven't cooked with or eaten before. I've learned to prep and love purslane, for example. And I've learned that some dishes -- for instance, like spanakopita -- are about anything which can be called "greens" -- chard, herbs, onion tops, turnip tops, carrot leaves, kale, lettuces, etc. -- and not just spinach; so, it's become my go-to for masses of greens and herbs when they are producing heavily. With a CSA, you get a share of what the farmer is growing every week for half the year from June to November. This CSA gets its shares from an organic-certified farm (Golden Earthworm); the fruit is minimally sprayed -- pests make this the reality of trees and fruit bushes in our locale. In contrast, the farmers' market allows you to pick and choose among what's available: organic vs non, choice of produce, etc. My cooking has changed, and I feel more attuned to the seasons since joining this CSA. The separate winter share is, as expected, less exciting and varied, but that's the reality of winter vegetables and I've become more creative and open about how I cook and feed my family and friends throughout the year. For instance, too many squashes? I make ravioli, risotto, potstickers, shepherd's pie, halvah, chili, etc. We live in Queens, considered the most culturally diverse county in the country, so we have a lot of inspiration to use "what's in the box" every week. At ~$25 a week, I can afford to supplement from the greenmarket if there is truly something else I want in my kitchen and table. And I really love that I don't have to garden to get amazingly fresh and vibrant produce.
