This is the most amazing locksmith! My front door was old and worn out. Once back in history somebody had kicked it in and you could still see where the frame had been crudely repaired. So I decided to buy a brand new door, complete with frame. When the old lock was installed on my shiny new door, it looked awful. So I called up Keymasters and Phil the owner came out himself. He recommended that I buy a brass handle set which would look really elegant, and then to go with it a deadbolt with a digital interface so that I would never have to fiddle around with keys at the front door again. It came with a key too, just in case. Then he asked me whether I would like the keys to match the rest of the doors on the house. I was embarrassed, because the house has a side door to which I had long ago lost the key. To my amazement Phil was able to open it almost immediately with his locksmith tools, and then change the works inside so that it would operate with the same key as the front door. He pointed out that my back door was not very secure because somebody could open it with a credit card. So he added a deadbolt to that door as well, and then arranged that both my old back door lock and the new deadbolt would all work off the same key as the front door. He gave me six shiny new keys that would open every door to the house. Incredibly all of this took under an hour, and I could hardly believe how low the price was. This locksmith is a treasure! He is polite and friendly, and cleaned up all the dust that he created when he worked on the doors. It was a pleasure to have him work on my house. My lockout rescue hero! I had rented a big SUV to carry around out of town visitors who were attending an association meeting at the Holiday Inn. Everything went fine until about the time when we arrived at the Holiday Inn when freezing rain started. Now I did have some trouble with operating the door locks on the car - it was a kind I am not familiar with and my guests were all locked in the car when we arrived. Anyway, I fiddled around and got the doors unlocked to unload them all at the front door, and then went off to park the rental car. By this time the freezing rain was really icing up the car, so I thought it would be a good precaution to scrape it off before leaving it. So with the engine running to work the defroster, I got out in the brutal cold and wet wind and started scraping. There was a sudden gust of wind and the car door blew shut with a bang. Then I could hardly believe it, as I heard the electric locks on all the doors make their distinctive clonk noise just as if somebody had locked them. But I had not locked them, there was I standing outside my running car clutching an ice scraper, with my purse and the car keys locked inside! Luckily I had my smart phone in my pocket and so I did a search for Locksmith near me. It turned out that Keymasters was almost adjacent to the Holiday Inn. Locksmith to the rescue! When I was visiting my Crystal Lake relatives I suddenly noticed cries of "Help" coming from next door. I looked out the front window and there was the next door neighbor apparently trying to push his car along the driveway, and hollering for help at the top of his voice. I went out there and asked what the matter was. Cutting a long story short, he had been going to take his infant son out to the shops. He had started the car (a stick shift) and unwisely left it in neutral without the parking brake on. Then he had set about doing up all the child seat fastenings for his son in the back. This Locksmith really saved me! While I was out bringing in my mail, the wind blew and the door to my home slammed shut and locked. I don't know how, I suppose I must have done something careless. Nevertheless there was I, standing out in the street, with my perfectly locked up home behind me. At least I did one thing right, and had my smartphone on me. This locksmith showed me how to protect my life! I originally called in Keymasters because my front door lock was old, worn out and somewhat broken. Phil, the owner of Keymasters came out to see me himself. I was astonished to discover that most conventional door locks could be picked open by either a skilled locksmith or a crook. To rule out this possibility I needed to have either a Medeco or a Schlage Primus lock, either of which would be completely impossible to pick (or compromise, as I learned it was referred to in the security industry.) Since this seemed attractive to me, I took the option of having a high security front door lock. Phil then offered to perform a security audit for the rest of the house. It turned out that the security of my side door and my backdoor could both be enormously increased just by adding a deadbolt to them, since the existing locks could be "compromised" simply by slipping in a credit card between the door frame and the lock. I took this option. Then Phil pointed out to me that my back sliding door window could be opened just by lifting it up with a lever tool. So I took him up on the offer to install a thing called a "Charlie bar" which makes it impossible to compromise a sliding door in this way. Finally Phil organized that both the deadbolts and the regular locks on my side and back doors all worked off the same key design. Such a convenience! Thank you Keymasters! Security for a New Home! Philip the owner of Keymasters was kind enough to come to our home on a Saturday as both my husband and I work on the weekdays. He arrived promptly at 10 am and was very friendly. He offered to look our new home over and give us pointers on all the things that needed to be made more secure in it. First he showed us that we needed to have deadbolts with 1" throws and security strikes properly installed that will hold up against a kick in attack. He showed us our options as far as door viewers ranging from the old fashioned mechanical on to a new wireless camera door viewer. I thought this was a great thing as there is not even a hole through the door. Keymasters is a complete home security consultant! When I moved into my new home I called Keymasters to give me a security audit. (I really had in mind to just rekey the house, but it turned into a learning experience for me.) The locks which were on the house turned out to be the kind which were easily broken into. So Phil the owner of Keymasters recommended putting in some Schlage locks which would be very hard to compromise. Just to make sure, he put deadbolts on the front and back doors. Then on the front door he put in a superb little spyglass which was just a tiny dot on the outside but a big wide viewing lens on the inside. My living room window at the back was a big sliding door, and Phil explained to me how burglars could lift and pry it open. So he installed for me a big lever bar called a Charlie bar which prevents the window from being opened unless the bar is lifted. I was visiting my Aunt in Arlington Heights and as I closed the front door behind me something went click and the lock seized up. The lock was a very old, unique lock made by Pella.
