Very expensive. They tried to charge me more than I was quoted. That was a hassle. And then the "tech" didn't put my exterior door handle back together at all. So I had to call back and wait for another 'tech" to come and finish the job. I am very disappointed. But they are the only place in the area so I guess they can get away with it read more

While he was there I also showed him the lock set I planned to install on my front door and he pointed out that it was a fire hazard and told me which one to get. Extensive and exceptional key inventory. The owner was able to accommodate me as a walk in customer and finished making a key for an aircraft door lock in 30 minutes. Cost was less then expected. I called asking about getting some motorcycle keys cut on Honda key blanks which were purchased at Northwest Honda in Crystal Lake. I was very unhappy with the way I was treated I was told they could not cut the keys and not given a reason. When I questioned them about why I was told I'll cut the keys for $100 cash. I had a Chamberlain garage door opener that needed to be installed after sitting around for two years. My boyfriend had promised to install it but never got around to it so I decided to have it done professionally. I called NorthStar and Jim quoted me a price of $175 for about 1-2 hours of work. My appointment was on a particularly bad weather day.. Jim called to verify the time, said he could come by early which was great. He was thorough in checking the items I had in the box; at first he thought I was missing some crucial pieces but after careful review of the items, he discovered we had everything necessary. He did a great job and spent about 4+ hours doing the install. He worked around my Miata which was sitting in the garage stored for the winter; he worked through the cold and blowing snow and spent time explaining how to program the remote, how to reset the unit, how the trip sensors work, all the basics. jim was personable, friendly, gave great customer service and charged a reasonable rate.
