So here's the thing with landlords some of them are great and some are just dishonest. During my tenancy of two years on many occasions, they were great about fixing things in the property. However, when it came to trees that were absolutely dead they refuse to remove them even though they caused a serious safety issue, but I think ultimately the reason why I feel like they are dishonest is that 77 days after I moved out, they attempting to charge me for blinds that were yellowing and over 20 years old. This is called normal wear and tear. Furthermore it is just dishonest for any landlord to attempt to charge someone against the deposit after 30 days. They are at 77 days after. They tried to commit fraud against insurance also which in itself says it all! read more

They charge many unnecessary fees and raised our rent by thousands of dollars when it came time to renew our lease saying it would "improve service" which we highly doubted. It pains me to write a negative review but I personally rely a lot on Yelp reviews prior to using a business. This company did a great job marketing and getting my condo rented out quickly. After this, it was a nightmare to get phone calls and email messages returned. I found out from the tenant (I'm still not sure how they got my contact info but in this case I was grateful) that he was vacating my unit. I called Keyrenter to let them know. I sent a written notice to Keyrenter advising that I was teminating my business with them, requested that I could look at the unit before the tenant's security deposit (or partial) was returned, and requested my keys back from them by a specific date. Over a month later from that specified date, I still have not received my keys back from Keyrenter. Fortunately, the tenant left his set of keys (although not all of them were returned) in the unit and left it unlocked for me. I'm not even sure if Keyrenter even inspected the unit upon the tenant's move out. I went in my unit two weeks after the tenant left (earliest time I could catch a flight out there) and there was nothing indicating that Keyrenter ever went over and inspected the unit. Very disconcerting since the water could have been left running or the air conditioning left blasting (yes, this has happened to me before). I did receive a call from Keyrenter after I had sent my notice of termination and they told me that they had a termination procedure that they follow. Bam, dead silence after that. read more

HARD TO GET A HOLD OF, MISINFORMATION, LACK OF COMMUNICATION. I contacted Key Renter at the end of August of 2021 because I needed a property management company for my home since I am from out of state. It was fine signing the contract and getting information on their property management terms. But after it was hard to get a hold of the gal. When the water company needed to come in and start service I couldn't get a hold of her. Thank goodness i was able to get a hold of my real estate agent. She said my property could be rented out for $2500 or $2600 but she said she would do a rental analysis. She also said she had a tenant for it immediately(this was the first week of September). Finally around the end of September I got the rental analysis (2 or 3 weeks later). After she informed me that my property could be rented out for $1850 she said she had showings for it. What about the tenant? She said they went elsewhere, I never got any updates! On September 20th I found out she hadn't even advertised the home at all!! She told me carpet would come in and install new carpet on September 20th. I called the carpet company on the 20th and they hadn't heard from her, so my property wasn't on their schedule at all. Not to mention I got the bid from her on the 14th of September, 5 business days AFTER she received it. I emailed her to cancel my contract and she is charging me $500 cancellation fee! She did nothing for me except waste my time! I called the Midvale office and they said they couldn't do anything for me because it was a different branch. She is representing Key Renter and has done an AWFUL job. They obviously don't care about their clients or they would try and help regardless of it being a different branch. Stay away from KeyRenter they don't care about their people!! read more

I could go into a plethora of issues - but I will leave it at our house was INFESTED with mice; so much so that when we turned the dishwasher on the heat caused all the feces underneath it to smell so bad we could be in the house. Signed a 15 month lease with Keyrenter. I just ended this 15 month lease. I feel like I was in prison. They are THE WORST property management company I have dealt with. As soon as I moved in the house had issues. The basement flooded multiple times. With sewage aka human poop. They asked me to clean it up. I was so upset I called my attorney who advised this wasn't my problem as I pay them rent. I called back very upset and they finally sent out a carpet cleaner. That's right not a Plummer a carpet cleaner. The basement continued to flood after multiple service requests and months of the Plummer coming and the carpets being cleaned. They finally approved the 30k job to dig up the pipe that was the issue. They did this repair mid winter. So the yard was destroyed due to weather conditions during the repair. I was without water for days. They offered no accommodations or help with the continued issues. In fact I had so many issues with the house they stopped responded to service requests. They are the WORST. Also they will charge you a fee any chance they get. No joke their fees have fees. Being charged a $500 fee for not turning the keys in at 9am the day after my lease ended. They come almost monthly and take photos of the home. They call it an inspection. I've NEVER had a landlord take photos of my personal belongings. A walk through is one thing. But that is not what they do. They tell you it's your responsibility to change the filter. DUH! All rentals require the filter be changed once a month. Which I do. Towards the end of my lease they started sending someone to also check that I am changing the filter..... I believe it was an attempt to check conditions of the home in an attempt to evict me over simple things like smoke detector batteries. Etc... The house was a nightmare. But Keyrenter made my life a living hell. I believe they did all they could to push my family out of the home. Please hear me when I say this. Keyrenter is a scam. They do NOT care about you. They just want your money. I've rented for over 10 years in UT. I've NEVER had such a horrible experience. Oh let's not forget when they switched my utilities out of my name and into the owners. I found this out as I received a notice it would be shut off. When I called they said I switch it into the owners name. Which I did not. Not to mention I pay $120 a month for utilities. But also had to pay them on my own for a time. When I brought this up to Keyrenter they said not to worry that the utilities will be paid. Yeah I know they will be. As I pay them monthly with my rent on top of what I pay to each utility company. They are not reasonable. They penny nickel and dime you. Do yourself a favor and rent with a company that gives a damn about you and your family. read more

Nonsense Nate, your videos are altered to block and ignore aspects that are evident in videos and photos taken after tenant left the property. I have our video of Feb 2018 where your inspector skipped over a hole int the wall behind the front door. He also ignored holes in the carpet and damage to the front door jam. He actually did mention that fact the shutters had been broken by tenant and also mentioned that the tenant would repair. No they did NOT repair the shutters or anything else in the property. Yes, I expected my property to be returned to me as it was when the tenant moved in. It is a far cry from what it looked like when they moved in. If you hired reputable contractors to do your videos and inspections you would not be in this situation. You ignored my requests to maintain the property in good condition. Now you will face the consequences. Again, anyone looking for a reputable and upstanding Property Manager in Salt Lake County, please do not hire Key Renter Salt Lake. You will regret it. I hired them for the sole purpose of protecting my property and maintaining it it good condition. They failed. I would love to post photos of what it looks like now, but will refrain for now. The two of them went out to view potential rental properties for me while I was too busy. While looking for rental properties to purchase they also provided me with a detailed rental analysis and 10 year performance estimate showing what current rental prices would be and how much cash and equity I would earn in the long run. Collin helped connect me with my lender, title company, and even ordered my inspection for me once we had a property under contract. I would give them less of a rating if I could. I will keep this brief, because I could go on for a while. 1. Terrible response time to property repairs, and awkward encounters with the repair people when they did come. Not people I would want in my home alone or for that matter with me in it. 2. The in contract property upkeep , snow removal, and outdoor property care promised in contract was absolutely never taken care of in the two years I have worked with them. To the point when the driveway was completely iced over and snowed they even after called didn't send people. 3. Mutiple calls about pest control issues. Never remedied. 4. Leak in roof took 3 months to repair. 5. Customer service in dealing with keyrenter was incredibly slow. When contact was responded 2, it almost seemed as if they were constantly trying to blow off me as well as the neighbors with similar issues. All encounters with keyrenter difficult and fruitless. I will stop here, and continue no farther because now that I am leaving this scenario I get to forget about these terrible people and this horrible company. I suspect they are fantastic as a buffer for landlords. The downside is they are terrible and irresponsible to rent from. They make everything so difficult and frustrating that it is not even worth pursuing. They are the primary reason I am moving. TL/DR: Terrible communication, unprofessional, maintenance issues will all fall on you, just in business to get your money. This will be the fifth property I am renting, but first time with Keyrenter, and I have never had a worse experience. Upon move-in, it took us over a month to get the appropriate codes to our garage door opener, front door and alarm system regardless of how many times we called the office. These felt like bare minimum requests given that upon move-in we were given absolutely zero information about the property and HOA, having to ask neighbors about everything we could. Very unsupported Day 1! During the first few days we also noticed some maintenance issues that were leftover from the previous tenant. Of course, this happens and we weren't immediately concerned, but it has now been over two months from the start of our lease and the problems have not been fixed putting us without working laundry, as promised in the lease. We've had four different techs visit our property so far, all requested by the home owner individually, who are not appliance techs nor could any of them fix the issue. Everyone would leave saying they don't have the right equipment. We noticed this pattern has only continued and is all an effort to save a few dollars on their end by not hiring the appropriate maintenance help. Even though we are constantly updating our property manager with what's happening and asking for additional assistance, it takes at least a week to hear back each time and we are met with little to no urgency. If you can avoid renting through this company, I would strongly suggest doing so. read more

Moved into this house almost two months ago. So many issues that haven't been resolved. Swamp cooler didn't work when we got here. While someone they sent out was attempting to repair it, they flooded the attic. The ceiling is collapsing in our bedroom and closet because of it. There's holes in our living room carpet that we were assured by Kristen would be replaced. Our kitchen faucet is just barely hanging on to the sink. Our bathroom tub didn't drain until I fixed it myself. The one thing they did somewhat right was have air conditioning installed. But even that was done half assed because they dug out our planter and threw the plants onto our grass in the backyard and left them, broke our sprinkler, and I'm assuming it was done illegally without a building permit since there hasn't been any city inspection done. But because of all these issues we were promised compensation by Kristin (that is supposedly no longer working there) and when rent was due they told us there's no way that's going to happen after all they spent on air conditioning. Then again that's the only reason I'm giving this slumlord two stars instead of one. This place got over 100 degrees indoor before it was installed. read more

Fees. Convenience fees (a fee to pay you bill online with a debit card). Lease Initiation fee. Maintenance fee--before you even get into the property. Fees everywhere. Also, we can't put holes in the wall unless we get permission (this is a safety hazard by the way if you have big shelves--like I do--that should be anchored to the wall to ensure nobody is smashed. Is that gross negligence on the part of Owner to disallow such a common safety measure? Maybe). I have just started leasing with this company and I am already regretting it. If you are considering this company, you may want to look elsewhere. But I get. Sometimes you don't have the time or patience to look for a new place. That was me. They don't answer their phone either. A common problem people have with this company. However, they respond to text message, so that's good. To be fair, Utah is a horrible state to rent in. The laws are so slanted in favor of owners that there is very little you can do about unreasonable, unfair, and exploitative lease agreements. I am actually not decided on how I feel about this company--that is why I gave an "OK" raiting. I am open to this being a good experience. I am mildly annoyed by the (SO) many fees, but I can move past that. This post is informational. To help people understand what they will being getting into if they lease with this company. I hate putting negativity reviews up, but I honestly do not know how Keyrenter has any positive reviews. Both myself and the owner wanted to cancel the contract with Keyrenter because they were absolutely horrific to deal with and we simply took Keyrenter SLC out of it. Let me start by their delayed inspection and maintenance responses. The owner waited 6 months for his inspection request to be fulfilled. It took 2 weeks to get maintenance out to repair a hole and I had to go back over his work because he failed to understand you can't paint over wet putty.... it recedes and bubbles. Next we had both tried to get a hold of Ryland, Jennifer, and later Dana to handle the closeout of the contract.... they are nowhere to be found. They don't call or text back for day (if at all). Dana says she will call back in 10 minutes every time, and never calls back. Don't say it if you don't intend on following through. I felt bad for the homeowner, it was everything he tried to do to get them to respond to anything. Moving on, the 60 day notice I provided was ignored for almost a week by Ryland. The closeout document she sent asks for the address to send the return deposit. That document was apparently lost, and Ryland had to later get my address again. After I moved she had stated to myself and the owner she would have the deposit sent that week. After 3 weeks I still had not seen the check, so after 3 days I finally got a hold of Dana to which had stated she again needed my address (apparently didn't send it yet). After another week, still nothing. I called her back, this time the check was returned because she wrote the address down wrong (remind me why I filled the move out document again). So here it is today, exactly 31 days after moving out, and I finally received a check from Keyrenter.... but wait, nobody from Keyrenter signed the check. Keyrenter is now breach of contract and I'm deciding what legal action I can take. ABSOLUTELY INCOMPETENT COMPANY. I will make every effort I can to turn business away from Keyrenter. read more
