There's a variety of lodging options, from bungalows to a 4-story building. Be active or veg out. The Alligator Reef Lighthouse is visible 4 miles out to sea. The staff was very warm and welcoming and the hotel does a great job of keeping in touch with you proactively through text in case there's anything you need. They had a $250 credit that you can use at any bar or restaurant at any of their sister properties, including the Amanda Cay Resort a few blocks up the road. read more

We arrived yesterday after a beautiful drive from Miami. Staff was very welcoming and got us checked in quickly. It's nice and quiet and we have the resort almost to ourselves. Very clean, our room is nice with an ocean view. Kayaks, bikes, and paddle boards are available for guest use. We stopped at the pool bar for a mocktail right before they closed, and Gayle was very nice and chatted with us for a bit. So far it's great, I look forward to enjoying our next few days here. read more

Visited for a day as a bday gift, this resort is located in Islamorada, less than two hours driving from Hollywood Florida. When we arrived the staff member welcomed us and gave us our wrist band, he explained about the amenities and direct us to Joe the water activities staff member. Unfortunately we were not able to use our paddle boards because of the weather conditions. (wind was very strong). We hang out at the beach and later on at the pool. The property is really nice, plenty of chairs at the beach area, and Joe was very helpful, he showed us where the bar, pool and restroom was located. There were two bathrooms available, during my visit I noticed the faucet in the women's bathroom needed attention because every time you opened it, It comes off place and there wasn't a changing table for little kids inside the bathroom, no shower inside or amenities available either. The pool area was nice and the bar had a limited amount available of cocktails and food choices. We ordered two zero alcohol piña coladas, the bartender was very nice and attentive. read more

Booked through Costco Travel, we got a fair price for a 4 night, 3 day stay in a garden view room that included a car rental. We enjoyed the large marina and white sandy beach area found here for play, sun and fun. The garden room is basic, could use some updating but everything worked well enough. The resort offers complementary kayaking, paddle boards and bikes along with lawn games. They offer some daily activities you can choose to participate in. We liked the 2 hr fishing activity with Patrick. He supplies everything needed to fish off the marina and shares his fishing know how all for tips. The staff at La Siesta are all very friendly and helpful. Thank you to Odane found in the lobby, Gail at the pool bar, and to the staff in activities and rentals. All terrific and made our stay memorable. Another must is breakfast at The Midway Cafe. It's a short walk from La Siesta and offers great coffee, tasty breakfast, lunch and pastry items. We came here every morning for breakfast and great service from friendly staff. Order the biscuits and gravy if that's your guilty pleasure. It's unbelievably good. read more

A couple of things to note that inched this to 4 stars for us: we aren't resort people, so we appreciated that there wasn't a big restaurant and bar attracting crowds, and we also stayed for 2 nights midweek during the end of Nov, so the place wasn't busy...definitely a plus for us. We stayed in a cottage, which also helped because we could just walk right out to the pool or "beach" area which was super convenient. Cornhole was literally 15 feet from our door so it felt like we had our own playground. The interior of the cottage itself was a little underwhelming, but the basics were fine. Bed was comfy, AC worked, TV was big. We took full advantage of the perks- used the kayaks, swam in the pool for hours (often having it all to ourselves), played cornhole, watched the sunrise and sunset, etc. Never ordered anything from Wild & Lime because we stocked up on booze and sandwiches at Publix. We did use the free shuttle to venture to the Tiki Bar at Postcard Inn one day for a few hours and our shuttle driver was awesome! Also appreciated all the helpful staff! These 2 nights were in the middle of 10 days of a FL trip and we appreciated the downtime and relaxation. If you aren't expecting a resort that is poppin off the whole time and want to be able to enjoy some chill time you'll probably enjoy La Siesta! read more

Booked online, got an email confirmation, 5k for 4 days. Still booked due to location and marina with boat ramp. We are 7 hours away. Drive down and found our reservation to have been cancelled due to cc denial. One f** ing phone call could have resolved issue because I guarantee my cc would have more than covered cost. Management said they emailed, I'm a contractor, 500+emails and 500+ spam per day. Never saw an email. One simple phone call and all would be good. 7 hour drive and nowhere to stay. We had some specific needs for our stay and Marilyn helped us get everything, and more, than we needed! So we decided to stay an extra week here. We stayed here with a big group of people and the resort was surprisingly a great spot! All the rooms have recently been remodeled. The beds & pillows were very comfortable and the rooms all smelled fresh. Most places next to the ocean deal with musky smell problems, but this resort was totally clean. Our party mostly hung out at the pool. Evelyn was our server all weekend and she took such good care of us. She was super friendly, professional, and nice. We never had to ask for anything. She was 100% on top of it. The pool area is very nice. Looks like a brand new infinity pool. We brought a huge floaty with us and played with that & the frisbee all weekend. This resort is owned by the same owners of Amara Cay and the Post card inn. Amara Cay is a higher version of La Siesta. But Amara Cay doesn't have full kitchens. If you're looking for the family get away with a kitchen, this is your spot. Some rooms have a full kitchen, and others just have a sink, counter, and small fridge. Handicap? If you have trouble walking up stairs ask for a floor unit. They do not have an elevator. From what I could tell, most units have a great view. Beach: the keys really don't have much of beach. It's super clear/shallow water. Bike and walking path: you can walk or bike on the path next to the road. It's a great way to fit in that workout. Tips: Buy one of those huge inflatable floaties from amazon and bring it with you! You can bring food and drinks but the food at the bar was actually really good. I recommend ordering the fish tacos. They do not sell Liquor at La Siesta. So bring your own. Go paddle boarding or kayaking! The water is very clear and shallow. You don't have to be an expert to go. If you fall- just stand up. Lol Bring sunblock and bug spray. You can buy fresh fish from the fishermen at the dock. read more

I booked and paid for this hotel through Hotels.com in advance. After staying only one night and checking out, the hotel ran a ridiculous charge of $831 on my credit card that I did not owe. I've been trying to reach them for over a month to resolve this matter. I've left numerous voicemails and talked to two people who stated they would look into and get back to me. They did not! This is extremely frustrating and a huge waste of my time to have to continuously call and try to reach anyone to help me. Very disrespectful and unprofessional. Traveling long and far to get here with Small kids. 1) our room type we booked was not available on arrival so we got a poor floor plan with giant flights of stairs that are totally unsafe for small kids. (main motivator for choosing the hotel was the 1 suite with 2 rooms) 2) service and professionalism is straight up horrible from evening staff. Tried to order an actual cup to sanitize our children's pacifiers but no one could deliver basics like this as the housekeeper was on break and did not offer any solution to deliver. Staff just don't seem to be solution oriented at all. They just say we don't know or can't do XYZ staring at you with a blank look. Very infuriating and frustrating!!! Seems like they just don't care at all. 3) there is a kitchen but no utensils cups, glasses, plates. Makes no sense to have this as it's basically not useful. Worst of all these complaints have been posted before and I wonder if management will really improve this? It's a shame cause the location is impressive. read more

It was my BF Birthday festivities and I booked one night at Siesta Resort. Once we arrived I was welcomed by the manager named Michael. He was really awesome and the staff was great! We recieved our wrist bands and had early access to the amenities. While we waited for our room to be ready we decided to lounge by the pool and later went out on the paddle boards to enjoy the sunset (included with stay). Catherine that worked by the pool passing out towels was a complete sweetheart. Our room was so spacious and included a full wrap around balcony with a small kitchenette. The room looked remodeled and very clean. One of the negatives for me was they don't have an ice maker. You must purchase the ice from the front desk that's about $3 a bag. Overall my stay was great. Was lucky enough to leave Jersey for a week and after 3 days in DisneyWorld, spend 3 1/2 days at La Siesta Resort in Islamorada, Florida. Left Boca Raton )stopped by to see my old College roommate who I've known for close to 50 years) on Wednesday morning and drove straight through, except for a stop at Everglades Alligator Farm. More on that in another review. Called ahead and check on was 4pm. Okay! Got there around 3pm. There were several upset guests in the office who had been waiting for their rooms. Some from NY, just by their rudeness. They told us with the economy the way it was, they were having difficulty cleaning all the rooms for 4pm. I understand perfectly and whole we we're driving, commercials on the radio pleading for people to work!! I don't blame this establishment at All! We met Sarah at the front desk, who grew up in the Cayman Islands and we talked about Scuba Diving. GREAT person, very friendly and she shared plenty of local information. THANKS! Then there was Daniel. One of the nicest people I've ever met. Gave us dinner ideas and a coupon or two. The Resort is centrally located and they had a shuttle to places within a 2 mile radius. Fantastic, so I didn't have to drive and could have a few Island cocktails. The driver was fantastic. On time and a playlist to die for.... Lol The other advantage is you get a wristband that lets you visit and use some facilities at their 3 sister resorts. Just up the road, from La Siesta Resort is their sister resort, which has a beautiful TIKI BAR and a sign that's enormous. Checkout was easy and hated to leave. The pool was phenomenal and warm. We rolled into Islamorada without a reservation during the slow season. La Siesta wasn't our first stop but it's where we decided to stay. Diamond was kind enough to walk us in to a couple of different room choices for our 5 night stay. We ended up with a great room overlooking the pool and the ocean. Perfect! Price was very good as well. I chatted with another group staying here who went out every day to fish. This was their fifth year at the same hotel and they love it. They were able to go from boat to pool within 5 minutes. Location is great and rooms are very nice. It's not the JW. Marriott but neither are the prices! Thanks La Siesta. Let me begin by saying that La Siesta Resort and Marina is the place to go for a well-deserved vacation. It's surpassed my expectations, the rooms are spacious with modern and comfortable furniture. We stayed in the two story townhouse and Wowsers, it sure did accommodate our family. The pool was crystal clear, the service impeccable. Bartender is a hoot, friendly and makes you feel so welcome. There are lots of water sports available, chickee huts, and hammocks for those that want to sway under a palm tree with a good book. Checked in on a Friday and checked out on the following Monday. The room was a 2 room suite with Garden View . Excited to stay and experience what the Resort had to offer . After check in we found the a/c wasn't up to par and talked to the front desk . The attendant informed us that 75 degrees was about as good as we can get in the keys, and suggested we keep our blinds shut to keep out the heat . Okay so we rent a suite for the view but have to keep the blinds shut to keep cool? Didn't sound right . Then the next day the up stairs a/c gave up and we had to move to a suite down the hall. Not a bad move but this suite was much better furnished and the a/c hit 68 degrees no problem . The lighting was better also. The daily room cleaning staff has issues that need to be addressed . They don't do a full room sweep and mop , miss replacing the soaps and toilet paper and hang out on the back stairs doing nothing . Spoke to the manager on duty I believe Marilyn . She took care of everything and the room was back in order . The amenities are excellent and the location is central to a lot of attractions . I give it 3 stars because I don't think we experienced all we really were supposed to and had to rattle chains to make things happen. We will return and I hope experience the 5 star I really want to give . Give it a try . Just speak up when you know something doesn't seem right . They will make it right . read more

The grounds are beautful! But the management failed to address the outrageously loud party at the bottom of my room.... We paid a premium for an ocean front room and discovered management would do nothing to prevent a nuisance party, bottles on the beach, loud music, propane tanks under the building( serious fire hazard) ..managment advised this would be addressed but with no avail. I had high hopes for this place especially with the amount of money we paid and what everything looked like in pictures on their website. Sadly, all of the pictures we loved, were NOT from La Siesta, however, they were from their sister resorts Amara Cay and Postcard Inn. Our room was your typical beach front room, so really no complaints - however our toilet seat did not match our toilet and our couch was filthy which was disgusting. My brother and sister-in-law also joined us for our trip and their experience was even worse. They had to get their room moved because their bed was literally sunken in right in the middle of the bed. They also had plumbing problems in both their old room and upgraded room, the shower wouldn't drain at all and neither would their sink. Their fridge in their room didn't even fit in the spot it was supposed to go in, so their fridge was sitting out in the middle of the room! Their toilet seat also did not match their toilet...we could have switched toilet seats and we would have a perfect match. Their toilet was square and ours was round yet we had a square lid for a round toilet and they had a round lid for a square toilet. The furniture looked like they picked items off of the side of the road and put them together. The resort didn't even try to refund my brother or give a discount, nothing and they had more problems then we did! The "bar" that they have their doesn't sell hard liquor and their alcohol is extremely limited as well as their food. They mention they have a restaurant on the resort...it's the bar that barely anyone works at. I wouldn't eat there personally. The only good thing about the place was the views and the use of paddle boards and kayaks, as well as the location in Islamorada. It's very small and quiet which was nice however during our stay there was a huge group of obnoxious and loud people breaking all of the "pool rules" and no matter if you complained, no one did anything about it. I would stay during the week so you don't run into any crazy people and you can relax. But I wouldn't spend all of that money to stay here anyway. I recommend spending your money and stay at Amara Cay if you have kids or Postcard Inn. Both of those resorts are absolutely beautiful, well kept and have everything pictured on the website. I mean La Siesta said they have fire pits...no where to be seen. The one that we came across didn't have wood, chairs, nothing. I was pretty disappointed with this resort and we were so excited because we were spending our babymoon there. The young staff was great, especially the ones that work the kayak and paddle board rentals, also, our bus/shuttle driver DaQuan (spelling?) was freaking awesome!! Moving our location from the keys @ the southern most resort we knew that we were in for a bit of a change. After getting past the horribly rude woman that checked us in and absolutely should NOT have a job there or in any other capacity of customer service we settled in. DO NOT STAY HERE!!! I come ot Islamorada 20-30 days a year working with local charities, fishing Guide association, fishing and recently looking for a place to marry the woman of my dreams. Our recent stay (We checked out today 5/25) ruined our entire vacation. It was the worse of our lifetime and we have stayed at over 5 different hotels in Islamorada. I will be attaching pictures from Ants in our laptops, sandbags at our doors step and ducktape on our foor holding down the carpet. But here is a laundry list of what happened. 1. The room we rented, Beach front house 102 smelled like a dead animal was hidden somewhere in the room upon entering. Keep in mind the room had been cleaned and left with that smell for us. Even the maintenaince man was floored when he walked in. They had to chemically treat the room and we were asked to leave for an hour becuase the chemicals were not safe? Keep in mind they never offered to move us to another room. 2. The phone in the room was broke. so I could not call the front desk to advise them that something smelled dead in our room. 3. My fiance is studyting for the bar, and she needs the internet to study online while i went out fishing BUT THERE WAS NO INTERNET. 4. We complainted about Ants in the room, and the woman at the front desk shugged her shoulders and just said its that season, sorry. The next day we found ants in our laptops and ipads. I am not sure at the point if our electronics were harmed? The second day they came and sprayed chemicals in the room to kill the aints. Stil no offer to move us. 5. The TV did not work, The shower curtain was falling off, there were leaking sandbags at our door, there was ducktape on the floor holding down the carpet. There was no parking after 9pm, there were non guest partying at pool, our umbella blew away and they did not come fix it, and believe it or not, i could go on.... At the end after all this, they gave us $25 off our stay. This place is a dump! Thank god the La Siesta Marina across the street was bought by someone else and is REALLY nice now. The Hotel and Marina are separate now. VERY important to know. I love the Marina. The Hotel is the worst on the island. DONT STAY THERE read more

We traveled to Islamorada with three families for a holiday. As we were a large group, we had to book a house with at least 5 rooms to accomodate us all. We booked months in advance, confirmed the that the property at La Siesta was available on their website and then found that it was less expensive on Hotels.com, although non-refundable, so we booked through the third party. We called La Siesta several times in advance of our stay with questions about the property, the specific house amenities and whether we could have early check in. Early check in was not available on the day so we made our way to the resort leisurely waiting until 4pm for our check in time. When we arrived at La Siesta Resort the guest service associate, Ashley, informed us that unfortunately they could not accommodate us and that the house was already occupied. Instead they offered us a different house with 3 bedrooms, and a suite on the beach with 2 bedrooms - completely separate from each other. As the goal of our holiday was to be together and we had done everything possible to secure a house together, calls to the resort in advance, we were dumbfounded. We asked to speak to the manager, Andrea Robinson, who we were told was not on site. While we sat there trying to reach Hotels.com to determine where our three families could be relocated for the evening we saw someone else arrive to check in for the house that we had booked. We couldn't believe that we had been sitting there for 40 minutes with our six children feeling homeless and that they had been dishonest about the house being occupied. The conversation escalated and suddenly the manager, Andrea Robinson, who they claimed wasn't on site or available, came out of the small office behind us. She ushered us into the office to let us know that there was nothing she could do. Because we booked the reservation with Hotels.com (Expedia) and that they hadn't noticed until that morning, she said that the reservations booked directly through their hotel take precedence and that she would reach out to Expedia to offer us a refund. We pleaded with her to reach out to her General Manager, Rob Bulkiewicz, as we had booked the property before the other reservation or it would have been unavailable when we compared the website cost to Hotels.com. She continued to reiterate that he was aware of the issue and would not honor our reservation. There was nothing they could do and so we left La Siesta Resort to feed the kids with nowhere to go. We spent the next few hours on the phone with Hotels.com trying to be relocated but they said that La Siesta wasn't being responsive so two of us drove back to the property to ask them to answer the phone. I asked Hotels.com to remain on the line with me while we asked a guest service associate to assist. We, being a group of 12, and it being by now 8 pm on a Friday night, Hotels.com was not able to find another location for us and we were stranded. The whole situation was a fiasco. La Siesta knew about our reservation (they had provided us with information about our stay multiple times), and we arrived before the other party that had booked the same house. Yet La Siesta did not honor our reservation, the staff lied to us, and the manager, Ms. Robinson, just refused to acknowledge their error or show a lack of concern, and threatened to call the police on two moms just trying to save their family vacations. It is hard to think of a way La Siesta could have handled this worse. Not only was our holiday derailed and we were left in the lurch, but they also treated our families like we were insignificant and unimportant. read more

Be careful what you wish for. We booked La Siesta Resort & Marina April 15-17, 2016. At $350 per night we expected better than what we got. 1) As soon as we arrived we tried to take a shower after a long day of travel. The tub was so backed up it came up to my shins. A houseman showed up and poured something called "fire water" down the tub drain that made the room smell like sulfur for four hours. 2) Bring your own cooler because there's nothing to store ice in. But don't worry, they'll gladly sell you a 10lb bag of ice for $3.25, but nowhere to store it, so it will melt. 3) The wifi sucks. You'll be kicked off every 2 minutes. 4) Front desk staff (one older lady in particular) is rude and abrupt. Don't expect much help from her. She takes pleasure in telling you "No". 5) Continental breakfast was bagels, bread and boxed cereal. There were multiple squirrels literally jumping on the tables trying to get the food. Eeek. 6)Pool was great and the water activities were very fun. The girl who ran the kayak hut was very friendly and helpful. The view of the ocean inside the rooms was great. The rooms are well thought out in design. This hotel lacks customer service. read more

We enjoyed our stay at the Sea Glass House this weekend. The house was modern and roomy. The backyard was also spacious and had a little area with sand that our little ones could play in while we were hanging out on the patio. The pool is nice but a bit on the warm side. The beach is scenic however you cannot go swimming in the ocean at/from this location. We did like that they had a boat launch and boat slips available. Their new Wild n' Lime restaurant is kind of a joke. We did not order from it as it is more so a walk up to and order something to go type of place.Their bar is strictly wine and beer (as far as alcohol is concerned) and is only open until 6.They do not allow personal food, beverages or grills on the beach. This was not the case last year. Grills were allowed. The pool was closed one morning until noon because the pool needed to be shocked.On the flip side you are able to use the amenities at their other resorts nearby. The breakfast is a JOKE. Do not bother to waste your time going to it.You are only kidding yourself. Downsides to the Sea Glass House-The downstairs pocket door in the bathroom did not work. This was a concern as we had a good size group and anyone taking a shower couldn't have their privacy when someone else was getting ready in the vanity area. The door upstairs to the king bedroom had a hole in it. Not a big deal...just an eye sore for such a nice place.We went to iron clothes and took the ironing board from the upstairs hallway closet and found that there was no iron. Luckily there were some in the other rooms but they were still terrible (cheap) irons.One of the upstairs rooms is right above the staff's break room. You can hear things from time to time coming from the break room like a chair being dragged across the floor but that was about it. All the sofas downstairs have pull out beds. One is a twin and the others are queens. The mattresses are very thin, you can feel the coils and you sleep on a slant but this is not a big deal if you aren't using the sofa sleepers obviously. Walking in the house for 5 minutes your feet are guaranteed to get extremely dirty. Seems like housekeeping hasn't mopped the floor in months. Unfortunately the list is lengthy but at the end there is a positive! 1) We stayed in room 406 and the group (10-12) in 405 which we shared a balcony took our 2 chairs for their own use and let their dog roam freely. They were allowed to play music extremely loud from their balcony and there was a constant slamming of the front door. 2) The king size bed was creaky, lumpy and extremely uncomfortable and at night the light from the hallway came through the blinds (no shades) leaving the room extremely bright for sleeping. We called the desk for an extra sheet to cover the window but my fiancé and I rigged up a blanket over the window which allowed us to sleep in darkness. 3) Upon using the shower, there were unknown dark hairs all over as if it hadn't been cleaned and the sink was backed up and drained very slowly. 4) Upon arriving home on Sunday 5/14 (3 hours later), my fiancé realized that she had left her bathing suit on the hook of the back side of the bathroom door. The woman at the front desk said they would check and when she called back she was told it wasn't there...... Really, did it just vanish! 5) Upon checkout I was charged for an extra day which was corrected. However disappointing we were, the location is amazing! The grounds are well kept and the view and facilities were very nice. The added bonus is that you can use the facilities at their 3 sister hotels which was very nice. We went with another couple and booked units 9 and 10 ocean front duplex . Amazing. Peaceful. Quite . If your looking for old fashion laid back keys feel , this is a must. No corporate ran Bs here. Just kicked back. Very small, nothing fancy . Bookkeeping the dock space for free. read more

Keep driving! We left after we found our 3 bedroom house filthy. Dirty floors, stains on the coach, yellow spots on the pillowcase, crumbs and hair on the floors and a towel tacked on the wall with a band aid covering emergency lighting. The house is in desperate need of updating and painting. Too many beautiful places to waste your money here. read more
