This review is long overdue! When visiting Seattle, we wanted to have some ethnic food but I'm vegetarian so our go to is usually middle eastern or Lebanese. Then we saw Ethiopian! It was delicious. Everything tasted so fresh. Definitely would recommend this restaurant and want to go back. I believe our server was the owner or manager. She was very kind and explained all the foods to us. I've been meaning to review Kezira for some time now. It's just half a block from me, and I've just been taking it for granted. I eat here fairly regularly - a couple of times a month, probably. Everything is consistent, and just how I want it to be. The food is always excellent (if you've never done this before: the only reason you shouldn't be ordering the special combo is if you're vegetarian, in which case you should be ordering the vegetarian combo), the service is always exceptionally friendly, and there is always a seat for me. Of course, I'd be happy if Kezira was busy enough that sometimes I had to wait for a seat. Then again, I tend to go earlier in the evening, before any of the live music and dancing starts. If you've never been to Kezira, remedy that promptly. You won't want Ethiopian from anywhere else. read more

I really wanted to like this place. They've remodeled and it looks nice inside. We had an OK experience (just OK) the last time we were there about a year ago, so wanted to try it after the remodel. We were there on a Monday about 5:30. There was one table of people already seated who hadn't ordered yet. We sat down and ordered right away, a special combination and water. 20 minutes later I got up to ask for our water. 10 minutes after that the waitress came back to our table and asked which combination we had ordered. The food arrived a short time later. We eat a lot of Ethiopian food and this was really not very good. The (very small) portions of meat were dried out. Everything on the platter except for the greens was cold. I've never had that happen before in an Ethiopian restaurant. They serve a lunch buffet (which they were cleaning up at the time, even though it ended at 3:00) and it seemed like they took whatever was in the containers and put it on our platter without bothering to heat it up. Normally we would have sent it back but were hungry so we ate it. The other portions on the platter were also quite small, and so dried out that the injera on which they were sitting was completely dry (another first). We're still trying to figure out why it took so long to serve us cold food. There appeared to be several people working there at least, and at the time we ordered there wasn't any other food in the queue. I'm bummed...this is close to our house and we would have made it a regular stop had it been even average. read more

My favorite spot for injera, hands down. Usually when I visit other restaurants, it's a hit or miss experience. Not at Kezira. They're so consistent with the flavors and I know what to expect every time. It's almost as good as my mamas. Great staff as well! :) read more

When I walked into kezira the first thing I noticed was how beautifully the restaurant was decorated with colors and east african art. When I was ordering my food the servers were very kind and I liked how the menu had vegetarian and vegan options. The food when it arrived was very delicious and filling. What a nice surprise! This is a beautiful restaurant with very friendly owners and staff. We had a vegan Vegetable plate for two which was delicious. The platter had chickpea, yellow lentils, red lentils, cabbage and potatoes, collard greens and string beans. They were attractively arranged on the platter and served with Injera bread. The place is clean, and the atmosphere was great. Very attentive and nice staff. There was soft, traditional music playing in the background which made it a relaxing experience, and we could all hear each other. Food was ok, nothing too special. However, I'm really impressed by how timely we got the food. My experience in most Eritrean/Ethiopian restaurants is that it takes a very long time to receive food, so I'm glad to report that this place is on time, even with a group of 8 people! Would I come back? yes, but perhaps for their spicy lamb dish and for some Ethio beer. read more

Just ate here with a friend on a Friday for lunch. It was uncrowded, neat, clean and peaceful. It is one of those "good things come to those who wait" (and wait) kind of places. The food looked and tasted great, and was served very gracefully by the quiet smiling hostess. I had the flax dip and the Veggie Wat combo and ate until I could eat no more, washed down with a ginger tea. I regret not having room for the chocolate cake. We just moved into the neighborhood, just a block from this place. We went and ordered the special combo and we absolutely love it! We also tried the Ethiopian coffee. It comes in a tiny adorable little teacup and was very very strong and delicious! Service was amazing and I highly recommend the Green Chicken and Doro wot. The prices are a tad bit higher than Café Ibex but the place has free speedy Wi-Fi, is lovely, quaint, and they play great music. I highly recommend checking them out! read more

I ate here with my brother and we ordered a combo dish. I am not a big fan of Dulet but my brother is therefore we ordered it anyways. I was amazed of how good the Dulet was when I decided to give it a try. Dulet was great and the other dishes were good too. Also the server and the host were very friendly. We were excited to come here, the yelp reviews were very good. Unfortunately, our dinner experience was underwhelming. My wife's fish plate was just ok, not great and the service was just ok, not great. But my beef tips were really disappointing. Extremely dried out. Almost like jerky. Kezira is a gem. It is a really nice spot with good vibes and a nice collection of Eritrean and Ethiopian art and artifacts. Nigist, the owner, and her staff are warm, welcoming, and generous. The food is lovingly prepared and absolutely delicious. There are many satisfying vegetarian options, and they offer all-teff GF injera. They offer takeout as well, but they are such wonderful people, it is always a pleasure to visit. We are so lucky to have a super Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurant in the neighborhood. read more

I've been here several times now and always had a quality product. The tilapia tib are light but flavorful and pair wonderfully with the spongy, absorbant wrap that serves as a tear-apart utensil for them. The service is good and the staff is friendly, it's definitely worth checking out! read more
