The food was good, but I was absolutely heartbroken after going out of my way on my 10 hour drive to stop at the birthplace of KFC just as a novelty tourist trap place to look at, while all the billboards were claiming it was open and to just follow the Kentucky bricks road to find out where a real legend began, I had the biggest smile on my face quickly turn into a frown when I saw the sign on the building say drive through only, museum is under renovation. Still wanting to eat KFC in Kentucky I decided to at the very least eat something for my long sorrowful drive home, after my family finished their meal, I quickly found out there was not a single out door trash can anywhere to be found and had to look for one myself, honestly, despite the blizzard, 60 car pile up on I-65, running over a sharp rock and getting a flat tire, and being locked out of my vacation home on accident, this was the biggest disappointment of my vacation. read more

But are you looking to maybe grab some traditional KFC food, glance at a few pieces of memorabilia, and oh, maybe gnaw on a chicken leg (or tater wedge) in front of the historical KFC sign? This place is just a glorified restaurant with an attached historical 'dining section' where you can see the 'original' layout for KFC's founding restaurant. The city is tiny, and the restaurant isn't anything worth driving off the highway for (unless you are into Heart Attacks and clogged arteries). So keep driving on, and just ell people you visited, or take photos out front. read more

When we were in line, my mom asked for four cups of ranch. When we drove off, we checked the bag to make sure everything was there. When we looked in the bag there was no ranch but yet it was charged to us. Also when my mom got her drink it was not completely filled all the way to the top. read more

Fun trip to the Cumberland Gap area and wandered into Corbin for some chicken and a picnic! Gotta say some of the best fried chicken around! Should be since it is the birthplace of Colonial Sanders, but it definitely beats the KFCs in other places. read more

The museum is open and definitely worth the time to visit. There are displays inside and outside. The displays are key highlights and memorabilia so it takes minimal time to view. The food didn't disappoint. My husband still thinks their coleslaw is THE BEST. We love the KFC & Col Sanders history. My husband worked for Kentucky Fried Chicken and I met Col. Sanders when I was in Drum Corps. Yes, many years ago. Enjoy! read more

Call me a boo boo head. I travelled all the way to the birthplace of America's beloved restaurant - KFC. You know why? Cos my mum in Japan didn't believe when I said there's a state calld "Kentucky". And that's where KFC is from! She keeps eating that stupid chicken burger and shakes her head like I am retarded. That's right, this is where it all started. Here, I discovered another thing. I didn't know anyone can carry a drink that big, served with a straw. Where I'm from, it's called a litre bottle, not a drink. Museum itself isn't very attractive, so much for honoring the most famous citizen of Corbin Kentucky. Now, did my mum then believe what I said about Kentucky? She finally did. Usually the KFC is great, but we recently went there and the chicken tenders were hard as a rock, and the fries were cold! The waitress said that it wasn't her fault and wouldn't fix my order! But usually the food is great, although it could use a bit of a clean. read more

Took almost an hour to get up to the ordering, took almost another 30 minutes to get our food. If your in a hurry DO NOT STOP HERE! The side of Mac n cheese we ordered was basically one bite, no point in getting it unless you get a size that's meant for a family. read more

I was dissatisfied that the original KFC didn't do more for its historical birthplace. Half the joint is like a modern day KFC where you order your food/drive-thru while the other half is reminiscent of Sanders Cafe with old wooden tables/chairs, wooden floors, the old kitchen and Sanders office. There wasn't much of a museum, yet several rooms closed off for viewing. I would have thought that this KFC would have some special original menu items from Sanders Cafe, however it was your everyday menu at any KFC. I honestly believe that the Big Chicken in Marietta, GA is a far better in historical representation then the birthplace in Corbin. read more

Wow! I came here with lower expectations after reading the reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. The girl working the counter; I believe her name was Anna, was super helpful on what to order and was so nice to my son. The place was clean, had a good atmosphere, and was very fun to see the museum part. I definitely would recommend to someone looking for a nice dine. read more

This is a great place to go to! Family friendly, great customer service, and food is always fresh. Never been disappointed when I come here. It's a great place to view Kentucky history and has always been one of my favorite restaurants to visit when I'm in town. Counter worker (Sharday) was very nice and helpful. I was looking forward to visiting the first KFC restaurant. I was extremely disappointed. The service was terrible. The two people in front of us waited forever for their food and we were barely acknowledged and actually had to remind them that we were here and hadn't ordered yet. I was accosted by a homeless man in the dining room and the manager did nothing and let the homeless people stay and accost other customers. I would not recommend coming here at all. The Colonel would be rolling in his grave in shame if he saw this. read more

It's a KFC don't know what else you would expect. Thought there would be more memorabilia but wasn't.

The drive thru service is good they make suggestions to help you save money. The museum part is run down looking needs new glass cases for the memorabilia. read more

As my church was returning from the Noah's Ark that is north of Lexington I had my parents stop at this location because I had stumbled across a video that I had downloaded and put onto a homemade DVD that I knew the people who run this restaurant would want to have. On that DVD disk was an event of Colonel Harland Sanders life that was recorded only days before he turned 89 years old in 1979. My parents and I called out for the manager and let him know what was on the disk and when he found out I had a video of an event of the Colonel's life I gladly handed him the disk. Now they have a video of Colonel Sanders talking at a convention in 1979. It was an honor to visit this historic place and give them something that I know they would like. I just hope if I visit there again in the future they will have a small TV in there so people can see the video I gave to them for other people to actually be able to see and hear the Colonel himself. Plus I have not tasted Original Recipe Chicken any better. read more
