    Outside of the historic KFC

This is truly a historic restaurant from the outside to the inside. On a recent road trip my brother and I saw the sign for the historic museum and had to check it out. On the outside you see the signage of the first KFC and other indicators that this is the original KFC. inside there is a museum with videos and archived advertisement, apparel etc from KFC. You of course can grab KFC food items off their menu and dine in. There were many locals from the community we chatted with which was awesome. Overall a must if you are in the area.

Hello from Kentucky, stopping in a the historic KFC home of the Colonel! This cafe and museum was an unexpected stop but worth it to check a little history in this famous brand, see some of the original stories and artifacts. Also ordered a 12 pcs bucket, chicken was cooked perfectly, Juicy and tender with a wonderful coating of a great recipe. I don't eat fast food and can only wonder what artificial ingredients make up the special coating these days and wonder what the Colonel is thinking but this fella was special ultimately selling out his recipe to a crook but his memory and indelible mark was left for generations to come!

The food was good hot and ready. Very clean and fun place to look at everything from back when KFC was first established. We ate, looked around for a while and got back on the road.

I took a trip to Kentucky and was able to dine at an original Kentucky fried chicken establishment. This town was the birth place of Kentucky Fried Chicken and they use the original recipe with 11 herbs and spices. It was a huge difference from the KFC we eat now and the changed/ dumbed down recipe ((hence the reason for the name change). Adjacent to this property, which is a Cafe, is a Museum and the house Harland Sanders grew up. All I have to say is you need to stop by if you ever in Kentucky and purchase a big bucket of this chicken and take a picture with the life-size statue of colonel Holland Sanders.

KFC done the way it's supposed to get done... This is the original! And everything about the place feels just right. Great food, my great service, great ambience. You're in Kentucky come here!

Gotta give them five stars for being the original KFC! Newly remodeled in 2020-21. There's a museum full of Colonel Sanders paraphernalia and stories. It's cool to watch the tourists posing at the outside sign and also sitting beside the life sized colonel statue sitting on a bench indoors. The fried chicken here is light, perfectly seasoned with those mysterious spices, and not greasy. My favorite is always their fried chicken livers! Fluffy biscuits and plenty of tasty sides. The staff is friendly and helpful, and FAST! There's a lot of history behind this OG location. Come for the experience and decent food!

We came here for the experience. Someone told me eating kfc at the original location would taste better. We'll I was here to try. Preface my review, I don't eat fast food really nor do I eat kfc. I think someone gave me a few wings last year. Before that years and years ago. We ordered the 3 piece box with mash potatoes and Mac and cheese. My wife got a bacon and cheese sandwich. Still the same ehhh food. Nothing special. The museum was small cute nice to see once.

    The "original" KFC BIRTHPLACE!

This is a Kentucky Fried Chicken people. You know what you're getting... so the 5 star rating goes for the whole set-up of this place: it is AWESOME!! I truly enjoyed my stop at the "Sanders Cafe" the original place where the KFC secret recipe was concocted. They have interesting displays about the Colonel's first history and how he built up from broke with $110 to an empire of franchises- and finally selling them and eventually giving all the Canadian franchises up to charity. Quite the story. (I have not checked it but if true: a very wholesome story). We had the bucket of chicken, half original and half extra crispy: I knew I would prefer extra crispy: and I do! So: there's several areas, with different exhibits of the time, a huge parking lot so no worries there )I guess they get a ton of tourists) and there's some fun gifts for purchase! (I got a magnet!) It was worth a stopover as it is super close to I-75, just follow the Corbin exit and it's about 5 minutes from there, and you'll get to take your picture at this truly "all American" landmark! Enjoy!

I typically don't care for KFC. Our local store in Cedar Park, TX isn't exactly the most well run establishment. However, I do have memories from childhood of it being excellent. If the flagship store isn't good, none of it should be. So we stopped. The museum is getting a facelift and wasn't open yet, but they were serving customers. It might have been one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever tasted. Equally as delicious as CFA, just a different take. The customer service was fine. Polite. Fast. The food was good. The chicken was a huge filet that was tender, juicy, perfectly cooked. The fries were incredible too. If you're ever in Corbin, it's definitely worth a stop, even if it's just for a snack.

It was cool just to say we've been here. The lemon cake wasn't very good. The fried chicken tasted a bit better than other locations. It was cooked to perfection. The Cole slaw was a little sweet and the potatoes and corn were as usual. The museum was cool. It was great to learn the history.

Ok. KFC is KFC, right? Wrong (ish)! This is THE KFC. Like, the original. The first. The flagship. We were driving past and laughed at the irony of passing a KFC while in Kentucky and then realized that it was actually THE KFC. Understandably, we turned around and made the obligatory stop. The building is being massively remodeled, but the drive thru is open. Cool experience. Same old KFC food. Nostalgia factor? A+ Food quality? Yeahhh you get it

This IS absolutely the best Kentucky Fried Chicken we have ever eaten! The atmosphere is set with the Colonel Sanders Museum and tells the amazing story of how it all began. Dennis is a fabulous tour guide for the museum and the customer service was impeccable. The employees care about their customers and love what they do! Well Worth the Stop!!

We saw the brown sign to the First KFC and needed from I75 and this was a little bit out of the way. Unfortunately the museum was closed and there was not much difference compared to any ordinary KFC other than the signage and the museum. Just another KFC. I was disappointed. I ordered 5 originals chicken pieces expecting something different but again this is just fast food. The neighborhood is a little ghetto. We had to tank up at the Marathon next door and where they were kind enough to let us use the restrooms. I would not bother diverting your journey for this.

It's pretty dark inside but the lighting fixtures they have are very unique! Wear a lighter layer under your coat/sweater cause it is pretty toasty in there. Our waitress took our order only to find out the prime rib that was advertised out front wasn't available - so she retook everyone's order about 5 minutes later and what I assume was the manager came out to apologize. He stated that he kept reminding the staff to flip the specials out front, assuming this is a reoccurring problem. Three out of six ordered the cowboy ribeye (another advertised special) and it was the same quality you'd get going to Waffle House, unfortunately. The fat wasn't rendered properly leading to rubbery texture and there wasn't a proper sear. 2/10 The other three of us picked the bowl of potato soup (6/10), Philly Cheese Sandwich (9/10), and Shrimp Scampi (7/10). The potato soup was pretty standard and could've used a little more seasoning. When I took my leftovers home, I added onion & garlic powder, kinders the blend, and salt & pepper and it was perfect! Shrimp Scampi tasted good but the noodles were well past Al dente. Not a big deal for the person who ordered it but something to note if you're a texture person. Overall, it was mediocre service (I think our server was new) and hit or miss food. It would be a great place to stop and grab some drinks at the bar, though.

We like sitting at the bar and there were only two other couples there so we chose that. BIG mistake! The poor guy (Devon, Darren, some D name) who was bartending was so laid back that he would forget what people had asked for and didn't quite grasp the concept of take an order, place an order. We wanted recommendations but he had none. I was like what?? Ok well we will try the pot stickers as an appetizer while we figure it out. So he went to ring that in after he did a shot with the couple next to us. Yep, that happened! He brought us our beer and wine about 15 minutes later and we told him for dinner we will try the lemon chicken pasta and meatloaf with mashed potatoes and macaroni & cheese. My husband asked if it came with gravy and he said "Nope". So I said we can we get some? "Nope". Alrighty then. The bar started filling up and the couple that sat next to us said the hostess claimed there was a 40 minute wait for a table. All I can figure is they are short staffed. The place is actually quite large with several booths and an overflow room that was empty. So 20 minutes later we are wondering about that appetizer when we see a girl place a large tray on the bar and walk away. Dilbert, Dewayne or whatever his name was eventually makes it over and brings every single thing we ordered at once! He laughed and said well here's all your food. The pasta was good, the meatloaf was dry (shocker) and the best thing was the Mac n cheese. $82 bucks in all and yes we did tip. We should have stopped an exit before and gone to Texas Roadhouse. Pretty disappointing.

It set the stage perfectly for what was to come. Our host was quick and helpful, immediately bringing us big cups of water, which was a nice touch. Nicole and our little one shared the mixed platter, which came with two ribs, two pieces of chicken (choice of dark or light), and pulled pork, plus sides of beans and mac & cheese. Everything was flavorful and satisfying. Even Floyd and Casey got to enjoy some scraps, which they happily devoured. Dessert was a highlight: two cinnamon apple bread pudding cakes with whipped cream. Rich, sweet, and indulgent -- we left feeling full enough to skip dinner and ready for a nap. The only drawback was the grease factor. Toast was overly buttered, and overall the food leaned heavy, so be prepared to grab plenty of napkins. While the flavors were excellent, the richness sometimes felt a bit overwhelming. Sonny's BBQ delivers hearty portions, smoky flavor, and a welcoming atmosphere with attentive service.
