I usually don't review fast food, because I like to write reviews about what I liked or disliked about the food I ate. Fast food are supposed to be about making exact same thing no matter which location you go to, right? If the experience is not unique to the location, I usually don't see the point reviewing. Well, I gotta stuff to say about what I ate here, because there was something I really disliked about what I ate and it was unique to this location so here I go. There was a really weird after taste on both chicken and fries that I ate. I could only assume to the oil used was rancid. I am not sure what the protocol is on how frequent the frying oil needs to be changed, but I am convinced this protocol was largely ignored. I learned something new today. When the oil is rancid enough, there is a bitter after taste that lingers in your mouth for very long time. The fried chicken was rejected by my 2 yr old boy after 1 bite. He never refused fried chicken in his life time until today. I don't know if this place just got lazy on their policy because it was a new years day but if they are going to serve that kind of food, they should be closed for the day instead. read more

The staff is friendly enough for fast food, but there's something wrong with this location. I strongly suspect their food isn't to spec as it doesn't taste like it does at other KFC's. I'm not sure if they're diluting the seasoning (why is the chicken so bland when KFC is known for being overly salty?), adding flour to their breading to stretch it (probably why the breading is gummy), or putting more cabbage and water to the coleslaw (no tang and barely sweet), but everything here tastes weak. Half of the soda fountain options were even out of syrup, and I'd be angry as hell if I got something to go and ended up getting club soda instead of Sierra Mist. The chicken isn't even crispy despite coming out hot, and it makes me think they're frying at too low a temp to save power or something. Just skip this place. read more

I stopped by here today because my mother wanted some chicken tenders. I stood at the counter for over 15 minutes before anyone attended me. There was no one else in the restaurant. If my mother had not wanted this for lunch, I would of just left. Employees did see me and no one acknowledged I was there. Need better staff working or else you are going to be losing business. read more

*** Pitstop Review (El Centro) *** I just typed up "food" and this was the closest place next to the freeway I could find that was quick. I would imagine that for being so close to the border I could find tons of little taco stands everywhere. Perhaps I'm not in the right part of town. (1/2 star) I was really looking forward to having fried chicken but was sorely disappointed by the food at KFC in El Centro. My husband's chicken strips were raw and my my three piece chicken meal (the big box) was horrible‼ My chicken was bland, undercooked and extremely fatty; the breading tasted old, oily and bland. There was hardly any meat on my chicken breast. Even the coleslaw was tasteless. The only thing I enjoyed was the corn on the cob. I have been going to this store for 40 years and I have never had to throw away my food. I don't plan to eat there ever again unless the store changes management. Grilled chicken was dry, little overcooked, and tasteless. I didn't taste any seasoning at all. Just dry as cardboard bland chicken. The sides were good. Loved the gravy, Mac and cheese was tasty. Biscuits were perfect. I wish I would not have got the grilled. Can't beat original. read more

Yesterday I drove all the way across town just to go try the new donut chicken sandwich and turns out after 9pm they don't make chicken any more??? Why close at 10pm if your not gonna have chicken to serve, makes no sense. They turned away 3-4 customers when I was there. I know employees want to finish up early and leave but this is ridiculous. Whenever we need a quick lunch in El Centro we stop at KFC. We usually eat in the car because the dog is with us so my wife gets a chicken pot pie and I get a bowl. Both are plenty of food and good. One thing about KFC is that the pot pies vary a lot from location to location. My wife thinks that the chicken pot pies from El Centro are the best. The bowls vary in that some locations are mostly mashed potatoes and not much gravy. I like a lot of gravy on mine, which is how they do it at El Centro. read more

Went through drive thru and ordered a Plain Chicken sandwich, and she asked if I wanted it spicy or a regular chicken sandwich, thinking it was a Spicy 'Chicken' I ordered it and when I got the sandwich it had spicy sauce on it which I wasn't aware of, and I went back through the drive-through and told them I asked for a plain chicken sandwich and then The lady proceeds to ask me if "im sure" when Im positive I know what I asked for, but she could've explained that it had sauce in the first place when i asked for a plain chicken sandwich. Monica then began to be a bit rude with me at the window when she was explaining the sauce was spicy the second time around. She then leaves the window open for me to hear their conversation in Spanish about how I ordered it. OK. I went there Friday at about 11:15 for an early lunch, and the food was good, but that is about all... So I went inside to the counter and I tried to give my order to Liz in a typical manner: I said: it's for here, I'd like the $5 lunch deal with leg and thigh, cooked crispy, and with the mashed potatoes. After a deep breath, she says: is it for here or to go?... then what do you want?... then which one?... then which style?... then what side? OK. This has happened before at other places, but it is just soooo frustrating when employee's don't seem like their interested enough in their job to listen to a customer. Maybe this KFC location could try to steal a counter employee, or two, from a McDonalds franchise. Then, I'm sitting there eating at the booth in front of the counter, and a well dressed young man (in a suit) comes into this KFC. He asks to see the manager or the Owner concerning future employment. Liz hesitates to get the shift manager, but she finally goes toward the back to get her. Liz then brings the shift manager to the opposite end of the counter from her register, where she remains to listen to the conversation with the young man (and no one is there to take orders at her register). The young man asks if they have any openings, and the shift manager says no. He then informs her that he has a prepared resume that he would like her to share with the owner -- and she says (this may be a quote or maybe a paraphrase): we won't have any openings for at least a year, so there is no sense to leave a resume. Very rude! I asked for drumsticks only on my hot wings and the girl in the drive thru didn't know what I was asking for. I repeated " drumsticks only not flats" well apparently she was new but was informed that this should be the last time they would do that for me. I waited for 10-15 minutes for the wings. I opened the box and looked at the wings to see if they were all drumsticks since I did pay extra for that and they call it a-la-carte. So I thought they were all drumsticks. But when I got home there was still at least 4 flats which we threw away cuz I don't like them. I know that special order will mean an extra charge, so I am aware of that. But for them to purposely put the flats underneath the drumsticks is not nice. They knew I wouldn't go back if I was home in Imperial. Bad business for them, we will never go there again, when we have gone there for many years. read more

06/07/2019: went through the drive through at KFC Calexico just after 4 PM today. Ordered a bucket 12 piece meal half original recipe and half grilled with 2 sides of mashed potatoes and one of corn. Got home and found the original recipe chicken was old and a dark reddish brown color and that one of the mashed potatoes wasn't cooked or even mixed right. Nasty food from a nasty place - after I made a real effort to be nice and polite when ordering., won't go here again! Add this place to my ever growing list of businesses I won't go to in the Imperial Valley. Probably doesn't help I'm an older white male either.. read more
