I'm not a fan of KFC; however, I'm rethinking given this experience :) Ordering was easy, the service was fantastic and you can find a shady spot outside. Honestly, when I took the picture, I was going to bash the whole place: 3 tiny tenders, small fries and a biscuit. That's exactly what I received and when I looked in the box it looked small. I am assuming that someone owns this location as a franchisee. I am assuming that they might give a little bit of a shit about their 2 star Yelp review. On the other hand, I am also assuming that the people who patronize KFC do not read Yelp reviews, so this is probably a waste of time. What is it about Reno? I think both Popeyes and KFC are a bad joke, both prime examples of the mediocrity that permeate the world of fast food franchises and chain restaurants. But I ate this shit as a kid, and every once in a while I get that hard craving. Today I went to get a simple two piece order, no sides. Just two drumsticks, one crispy and one regular. I was not given a price over the drive through intercom and when I got to the window, they threw at me a price of $6.04. I just went on their online menu and their 2 piece fill up that includes a side, drink and COOKIE is $5.99 (still a ripoff IMHO). I don't know what shitbirds are setting pricing for what regions, but it seems like they just came up with a ludicrous, random price in store. I did not pay it. I just said no, and left with a firm intention of never going back to any KFC, ever, no matter how bad my cravings are. Okay, okay, four stars is probs a little grade inflation-y, but this KFC helped me accomplish my mission of having a delicious fast food lunch. I love cole slaw, and Rei R.'s recent review reminded me that I haven't been to a KFC in at least a decade. (At the KFC/Taco Bell/Pizza Hut combo joints that are so popular in the Midwest, I always go Taco Bell.) I roll up through the drive thru and order myself a large slaw, large diet soda, and a Chicken Little sandwich. The young woman who took my order was super friendly. In no time at all, I received my food. And it was glorious. Best restaurant (or grocery store) slaw I have had in a long time. My time in the ATL notwithstanding, I prefer Pepsi to Coke, and my diet Pepsi was so bubbly fresh. The Chicken Little gave me equally as much pleasure as a Wendy's junior bacon cheeseburger, which is my standard for dollar-ish menu items. Would I want to dine in? Probably not: that's for Raising Cane's, even though their slaw is so sub-par. But next time I need some slaw and a sammie and I'm alone, the Damonte Ranch KFC will be my choice. read more

I have to complain, yesterday I went through the drive through. It was busy, I understand but it was a horrible experience from the start. They need to turn up the volume on the outside speakers. 3.5 really. I do love the occasional fast food fried chicken. Sometimes I prefer Popeye's, sometimes I like KFC, for the three or so times a year that I indulge. Popeye's has crispier chicken, but I prefer the sides at KFC. Let's not get too nerdy on the specifics, though. This place is usually staffed by high schoolers who can't be too bothered to break their neck to serve you too quickly. I usually opt for a 2 piece chicken with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. Not much has changed over the years except for the size of the chickens. They seem to be growing the chicken on a farm in Hobbitland, since they have progressively shrunk in size. I was at the drive thru on Sat, between 2-3. To my horror, when I reached the window, there was a young girl with a face mask only barely covering her mouth. Her nostrils and whatever came out, were very apparent. I kept waiting for her to pull up the mask, as required, as she breathed on my credit card, my food and me! In my definitive ranking of fast-food chicken (and boy, is it definitive), KFC doesn't even come close to the top. But when it comes to their coleslaw, I am a certified KFC TRUTHER; easily the best in the fast-food chicken tier, bar none. So far, my self control and better judgement outpace my slaw love, so I really only pop in once a month to grab a family meal to-go on lazy nights when no one feels like cooking. And usually, things are a-ok. All 11 ~secret~ herbs and spices are well accounted for. Chicken: decently crispy yet glistening from grease as the good lord intended. Rarely is there ever reason to expect more out of a fried chicken franchise... except when they flub your order and leave you slaw-less. The first time, they accidentally swapped it with mac; disappointing but forgivable. My last visit, they forgot it altogether. This would be much less of an issue if slaw wasn't the CRUX of my KFC meals. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, I'll concede to being a doofus but DAMN, quit holding out on the slaw. Obviously, the easy answer is to do a double triple take through the bag to make sure all sides and fixings are accounted for before peacing out the door, but I'd also love to believe in good faith that my order won't be incomplete or bungled every single visit. Sure, mistakes happen, but they're not any easier to forgive when they're expected. Other issues from this location include dwarfish wings/thighs and iffy cleaning practices, but really nothing compares to standing between a man and his coleslaw. FREE THE SLAW, KFC. Absolutely the worst fast-food restaurant I've ever been to. I've given this location 3 or 4 tries in the last two years, and every single time it's a complete disaster. I will never go back...and based on the lack of customers (zero) at 6:30 on a Friday evening, I'm guessing I'm not alone in my decision. The gentleman working the drive-thru has messed up my order each time I've been in. He first charged me $28 for two Fill-Ups and one popcorn chicken combo. I said there must be a mistake. He tried again and came up with $23. Eventually had someone else do it and got it right ($18.00 something). Then I figured they had messed up the food order, and I was right. Had to go into the restaurant to get the correct meals. As I entered with my bag, I got no smiles, no "how can I help you?"; instead was greeted with the "manager" saying to the drive-thru man, "your order's wrong". Wow, wow, wow. I would also think the food would have been fresh between 6:30-7:00...also wrong. Biscuits were hard as a rock and the chicken definitely had not just been fried. The year plus old reviews do not do this place justice! Sure they have off days from time to time, don't we all? However, I can confidently say that 99.9% of the time the crew at this location will be on top of things. The important thing to remember is, that it is fast food and it is in a high demand area with people usually ordering for large families, so they may run out of things from time to time. They will make the wait up to you by providing excellent service and attending to your every need. Just remember that the majority of people working at KFC are teenagers, some of which are working their first jobs, so please be patient with them and be kind and courteous as the customer just like you would like the employees to be and that combined with my previous points will definitely give you a five star experience at the KFC on Damonte Ranch Pkwy read more

I feel weird writing a review for KFC, but I also feel I would be remiss if I did not write this review. My buddy and I went into this KFC craving some super crispy, heart killing, greasy fried chicken! (Hey! We only live once!) I am not typically a KFC fan, and neither is my buddy. But you know, those cravings can get you to do stuff sometimes.... So we decide to walk in, why not. I have to tell you.....we had the NICEST YOUNG MAN EVER help us! His name is GABE and this kid is something special. Now I know it's "fast food", but Del Taco was my first job at age 15 1/2, and so I do have somewhat of a soft spot for what those folks go through dealing with me, and the CRAZY public on a daily basis. But GOOD HELP IS HARD TO FIND in any fast food establishment today, and GABE AT KFC IS WORTH MENTIONING! But not only is Gabe worth mentioning, so is THE FOOD! OMG, IT WAS SOOOO GOOD!!! We both had the $5 meal things they have right now, where we got 2 pcs of chicken, a side, a biscuit, a cookie, and a drink! FABULOUS!! Gabe made sure TO ASK if we needed any additional condiments (who EVER asks that anymore?!), when he delivered the food to our table. The food was soooo good and it was the best $10 we've spent on food/dining in a LONG TIME! I walk back up to the counter and asked wth was going on and she kinda just shrugged her shoulders and said, that's all we have, take it or leave it. The dark hair lady who took our order should not be in customer service at all. She spoke like she hated her job and hated dealing with customers. Every time we ordered one thing she gave us a total and we weren't done ordering. How hard is it to ask a paying customer "is that all for you".
