Service was horrible. Ambiance is not present with sticky floors and tables.ordered food on the app and 30min AFTER the app said food was ready (30min after online order and payment) they food was still not ready. Was there with another gentleman who ordered online and was there 20min before me. He said they got walkins, drive thru and DoorDash orders but hadn't gotten his. Whoever is managing this location needs to step it up or hire new employees. Every time me and my fiancé go it takes anywhere from 20-45 mins just to get a chicken sandwich. Sometimes the food tastes fresh and it makes up for the wait but, today I ordered off doordash because I figured I could run errands while I would normally be waiting for the food. I got there and the food still wasn't ready. I was told to pull up past the drive thru window and wait for my food. I waited 15-20mins and finally decided to go in and see what the hold up was. Sure enough my food was just sitting on the counter. I wouldn't have minded to come in and wait for the food but they told me I could wait in my car and they'd bring it out. Called to place an order. No one answered the phone. Stopped in to place order for three hours later. Store had 2 customers in it. Not busy. Manager on duty told me the next manager coming on was not competent. Came to pick up my order. Repeated the contents of the order twice standing in front of the manager on duty. He confirmed it twice. Got home part of the order was missing. I called back and he made excuses. I reminded him I had repeated the order twice standing right In front of him and he confirmed it just minutes before. OH WELL..... Won't be going back. read more

I haven't been to a KFC in probably 10 years. Traveling cross country, I stopped in for lunch and tried the chicken sandwich combo. The girl who waited on me deserves each star in this review. Sweet, personable, patient, and happy make for exceptional customer service! I thought the chicken sandwich was delicious (and easier to eat in the car than the family size bucket of chicken I was tempted to get)! Had bad experience at #KFC in Salem Va. Not that I've been impressed with them before. First, they messed up the order two ways - left out a piece of chicken I ordered and got another piece wrong. Second I placed on line order, site said it should be ready 6:05. Get there at 6:07 or so and hadn't even started it. Third, when I walked in NO ONE at the counter. 5 minutes later (and being seen by workers) no one comes to counter, so I ask in loud courtroom voice "Is anyone working the counter?" 2 minutes with no acknowledgment I BELLOW: "I ASKED ALREADY IF ANYONE WORKING THE COUNTER? (People in drive thru probably heard me). Another guy said he had been waiting 30 minutes. Finally someone waddled up and had to look to see if my order was in system (it was). Took another 10 minutes to get it wrong. Meanwhile another person comes back -- 20 minute drive -- because his order was wrong. I'm guessing it's a combo of inadequate training and crappy pay. I told my wife if she wants KFC again she can go. I've pretty much had it with that location. read more

KFC has a Tuesday special, 8 piece bucket of dark meat for $10. Go to order online and the order totals $20+ because of an error message stating "your promotion is not working at this time". I ordered a bucket of fried chicken with mashed potatoes & gravy and corn at the KFC Salem Main Street drive through earlier this evening. Time of order: 3:08pm. I asked for mostly dark meat but they were almost out so I was ok with a mix of light and dark meat, no problem. I asked for mashed potatoes & gravy and corn as my 2 sides, they said no problem. So I paid my $40 + bill and the window cashier said to pull over and wait for the chicken to be fried. I said ok, no problem. Then about 15 minutes into my wait, an employee came out and told me no biscuits were available and my choices were to go home and come back in 15 minutes, wait 15 for a new batch of biscuits or take a small cake instead. I asked why I wasn't informed of that when I was ordering since my family likes the biscuits and they offered no explanation. I accepted the small cake instead. Went home and when bag was opened discovered there was no gravy. I called back and asked for the manager. Had to wait 20 minutes. When she got on the phone I asked why no gravy. She said "... they are busy". (There was no line of customers waiting at the time I was there.) In a normal tone of voice I said that's her problem, not mine. She took a minute and came back on and said: "you're an xxx" (will not repeat the curse word she used and she abruptly hung up. If that manager can't deal with reasonable customers who were disappointed after paying for food that was unavailable without disclosing same at the time of payment, she should seek training or find another job. Likewise, if she can't manage her employees to speed up production a bit when necessary, find a non management job. read more

I've never posted a negative review but I feel it's necessary sometimes. For the Salem Va location I suggest everyone check their order before leaving the lot. I order Unsweetened Tea and received sweet one time and half and half another time and today didn't get the gravy for the mashed potatoes. A team member caught the drive thru members mistake of the chicken being original instead of crispy and fixed that - but still didn't get the gravy. I only order the mashed potatoes and gravy for the gravy to dip my chicken in. Check your orders - I will from now on. read more

I recently placed a pick up order at the KFC in the Salem, VA restaurant. When I picked up my order, the employee put the bag on the counter and said there you go, as she left to go to the kitchen. I asked if she got the extra order I had placed. She said, "Yep, it's all in there". When I got home, we had gotten the bucket of chicken, but the extra 2 piece order with biscuit and fries was missing. It was a hassle to spend 25 extra minutes to go back. I've checked every order since then and it's usually wrong. The employees are slap happy and don't give a darn when filling orders. They apologize, but don't seem to realize what an inconvenience they are causing. read more

I feel bad for this particular KFC franchise owner. Unfortunately he or she isn't keeping tabs on how it's run. This one is nasty. It's dirty, trash on the floor, tables are very rarely wiped down. It is understaffed. Most times I have been here. Takes forever to get your order if there is one or two people in front of you. The men's bathroom Is absolutely atrocious. I was afraid to even touch the door on the way out. It's that disgusting. I the food I ate was good I can say that. So they got one thing right. read more

I usually don't leave feedback unless it is really bad or really good. Unfortunately it was HORRID. I went with my wife and ate a buffet. We'd never been and I called ahead to make sure they had buffet. Not every KFC has a buffet. The worker sounded unpleasant but I thought she may have just been surprised at the question so I shrugged. The employees there all seemed unpleasant. The food was not fresh.
