    The new Zinger sandwich meal
    Trish H.

This KFC consistently has friendly staff and quick service and I keep coming back because...friend chicken. However, today I'm reviewing their new Zinger chicken sandwich. Ummm, not so good. To start with, it was tiny. Normally, that would be better because I don't like giant sandwiches, but for being a main sandwich and not a snack, it really was little. So little in fact, I noticed it was the size of the chocolate chip cookie that comes with the meal. And no, it wasn't a giant cookie. LOL!! I took a pic just in case you doubt that. Now, don't get me wrong, it certainly is a great deal with a chicken sandwich, potato wedges, a drink, and a cookie. However, I certainly don't think it would be very satisfying for a big hungry dude (Who says dude anymore?). Ok, getting past its size, now for the most important thing; the flavor. Flavor is an overstatement in terms of this sandwich. The bread was dry and the the chicken was nowhere near being "Zingery". Yeah, that's not a word. It's not spicy in the least, and actually really rather tasteless. Let's just say that by the time I ate half of it; I was quite glad it was tiny. I think I'll stick with what KFC does great; extra crispy, fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy (which I could drink with a straw). Don't worry KFC, I'll keep coming back and keep my high cholesterol steady. Keep making new treats and I'll keep trying them. Because I'm a trooper like that. ;)

It took almost an hour to get four chicken pot pies and they weren't that great . KFC just isn't what it used to be .

Upon entering the dining area I pretty big they have a pretty cool light fixture and the ambiance is nice. Once we were sat we asked if there was a drink menu. The waitress though nice, said no. When we asked about a wine list she again said no. I have never been to a restaurant where they did not have a drink menu..... we ended up getting our usual seltzer. The menu had a decent assortment and my boyfriend loves linguine and clam sauce. We are gluten free so it was going to have to be penne but it was nice it was an option. He said he liked that they gave him a lot of clams and it wasn't a puree but there was hardly any flavor at all. I ordered the Caperese Chicken with gluten free penne..... from the picture it looked good however, the chicken was so charred all you could taste was the grill. The only thing that has some flavor was the pasta. It had a faint garlic taste. The server though friendly didn't check on us that often and our food took over 45 minutes to come out and it wasn't busy. Im not sure if we just came on a one off night but the food just wasn't good. The drinks though had a pretty good price point. I'll come back for the drinks and id skip the food.

The service was stellar and the food was delicious. We started out with the pretzel braids and literally it was the best tasting pretzel I've ever had. Something about that dough was special and made magical things happen with one's tastebuds. I ordered the B&S smash burger for my entree and they definitely smashed it out of the park with this one. We were blown away with this restaurant and will definitely be back.

We tried the sampler which included all of their smoked meats, along with an order of the burnt ends. Everything we tried was tender and tasted great. It would be hard to say our favorite because everything was awesome, but if we had to pick, it would be the burnt ends...or was it the ribs...so hard to decide! We also tried sides: mashed potatoes, collard greens, macncheese, and cornbread. Again, everything was absolutely delicious. The combination of great food, awesome service (thank you James!), outdoor dining, and welcoming atmosphere make Pig and Fire House of Barbeque one of the top restaurants that we have visited while traveling.

They've got a rotating draft list with a great mix of local beers and some from outside the area, plus whiskey and wine options. I went with a liter of the Kolsch, huge pour and absolutely delicious. Everyone at the table loved what they ordered. We grabbed dessert to go, and I had the pecan pie, wow. Just incredible. I ordered the Big Italian with hot honey, but my order arrived without the hot honey. I called and spoke with the manager, Mike, who seemed completely uninterested in fixing the issue and only offered a store credit. He repeatedly claimed the receipt showed "no hot honey," implying this was my mistake. However, as the video shows, there was no option for me to select "no hot honey." I simply selected the crust and added the item to my cart. Instead of resolving the problem and giving me what I paid for, Mike argued with me, repeatedly blaming me and insisting that was what I ordered. His response was dismissive and frustrating, and the conversation escalated because he would not listen when I clearly stated multiple times: I want what I paid for. Mike refused to send a corrected order, claiming I live too far away (I'm 10 minutes away), and continued pushing a credit instead of making the order right. He even blamed Vocelli's ordering issue on a "third-party app," despite me ordering through Vocelli's website. When I asked for a refund, he said he'd "try." At the end of the day, I wanted the order I paid for, not excuses, blame, or an argument. Good customer service means fixing mistakes, not blaming customers and offering credits as a default solution. After this happening for the second time, and after the way this was handled, I will not order from here again and would warn others to go elsewhere. Mike should not be in a management position if this is how customer concerns are handled. --- to see video look on google reviews ---

Street parking available. This is more of a takeout place but there are tables inside. Now for the food! My coworker and I had chicken tacos, the gator po boy, and the chicken and funnel cake. The chicken tacos were on special for taco tuesday so they were $2 each which was a great price. They were filled with chicken and toppings but the meat was a little dry, and I think a sauce, like a chipotle mayo or something, could really make these pop! These were our least favorite part of lunch, but they were still good, I really liked the salsa. I used to work at a southern restaurant that served gator sandwiches, so I was super happy to see alligator on the menu! The gator po boy was delicious! It came with a spicy mayo. The gator bites were seasoned well and the bun was super soft and fresh. I wasn't crazy about the chips that came with it though. The chicken and funnel cake was the standout- think chicken and waffles but better! The chicken was awesome and the funnel cake was super sweet! I wish it came with like a spicy syrup or something. Nonetheless, everything was delicious and I will definitely be back, this is an awesome addition to downtown Washington!!!
