My only issue was that the breading felt like it was missing a little something, maybe more seasoning, pepper, or some extra flavor. Growing up with places like Gus's Fried Chicken in Memphis and Nashville hot chicken, I think I naturally expect a little more punch from the chicken itself. The sauce they serve is more of a barbecue style sauce, and while it worked, I personally didn't love it enough for it to carry all the flavor. The sides were a mixed bag. The collard greens were really good and definitely one of the highlights. The coleslaw, though, was way too pepper heavy for my taste. Also, the piece of bread that comes with the meal was honestly not worth the calories. I'd rather see them either upgrade the bread or skip it altogether. One unexpected highlight was the pebble ice from the drink machine. Small detail, but it was awesome and definitely appreciated. Overall, I'd come back and try some different sides because the chicken itself is worth returning for. With a little more seasoning or some different sauce options, I could see this being a 5 star spot.

Since 2020, i have seen a gradual decline in quality and the variety of offerings. Tonight was by far the worst i have experienced. Even the server said that there have been allot of complaints regarding the food. The order was simple. Chicken strips, fries, coleslaw and hush puppies. The chicken and hush puppies were way over cooked! Hard, dry and i simply could not eat them. The fries were limp, cold and greasy. The worst was the coleslaw! Warm, obviously not refrigerated and looking spoiled. My wifes food was the same. They offered to remake the order, but since we both ordered different things and both orders bad, i chose not to accept that. If they remade the food, i cannot believe it would have been better. If they have not hit rock bottom, i cannot see how they can continue to survive. This place used to be packed on nights. It is so sad to see an icon die like this. A no frills place with a limited menu. They serve their lunch menu Monday through Friday, 11am to 1:30pm and the Dinner menu Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 4:30pm to 8:30pm. We walked inside, chose a table and had a seat. There were several other tables seated and enjoying their meals when we walked inside. The menus are on the table and we were quickly offered drinks. When our drinks arrived we placed our order. We both decided to order the cheeseburger with chips. A short while later our food arrived. The burgers looked delicious. I noticed the drinks and food were all provided with disposable plates and cups. It was pretty clear the burger was not frozen. It appeared to be a hand formed patty. The cheese appeared to be similar to Kraft singles. I had fresh onion and lettuce on mine which was perfect. Overall this was a great stop and I would return. The burger was perfect. The price was reasonable. The service was exceptional and our drinks were filled before asking. There is an active railroad track on the other side of Fuller Street across from Harry's which is very close. A train came by while we were eating and we could hear it well, and our table shook. I now consider myself a fan. They are very good at what they do and considering they have been in business since 1954, they are a local favorite!

The food is Southern style comfort food, from classic breakfast fare to burgers, fried chicken, beef tips, country style steak, pot roast,and club sandwiches, including my favorite, a cheeseburger club! In my visits here, I've had breakfast - eggs cooked perfectly over easy, and the shredded hash browns are excellent. For my lunch visits I had the Cheeseburger Club (excellent), the Chicken Livers (very nice, not the least overcooked), Country Style Steak, Hamburger Steak, and twice I chose Vegetable Plates - they have around 20 vegetables on the menu. I have tried pintos, stewed potatoes, collards, cabbage, fried okra, fried squash, mashed potatoes, corn, and cucumber salad. This is country cooking, served in a pleasant environment by friendly, efficient folks I encourage you to take a ride in the country and give this place a try.
