My favorite Sunday breakfast place. The pancakes are delicious. I usually to with strawberry syrup and whipped cream. The bacon is Krispy. My server is always great. I like to sit in the section of Val because he is on point. I'm here at least once a month.

Golden Corral is good for what it is: a reasonably-priced, all-you-can-eat (AYCE) buffet with a wide variety of food. Since the 90s, Golden Corral has been one of my dad's favorite restaurants. It's easy, convenient, consistent and reliable, and there's something for everyone. There are also plenty of locations so if we're traveling, he's likely to suggest the local Golden Corral for dinner. There's value in familiarity. Admittedly, I've grown a bit tired of this chain over the years, but I do respect its place in the foodservice industry. It certainly serves its purpose. Since the closing of the High Point Golden Corral in 2012 ( https://www.yelp.com/biz/golden-corral-high-point ), my parents' go-to Golden Corral locally has been the one in Greensboro: https://www.yelp.com/biz/golden-corral-buffet-and-grill-greensboro-2 This location in Winston-Salem, next to Hanes Mall, is their number two. Currently, there are two other Piedmont Triad locations, Asheboro and Burlington, to make four total. We visited this Golden Corral on a Saturday around 4:30pm and boy, was it busy. At one point during our meal, I think just about every single table was taken. Business was good. Good for them! My parents like to go for the Senior Early Bird rate of $9.99 per person, Monday-Friday, 1-3pm. The Senior Early Bird rate includes a drink. It's a great value. During our Saturday afternoon/evening visit, we ate at the peak rate: $16.49 per person plus the cost of any drinks. Still, for AYCE and the variety of food served, not a bad deal. Now you do get what you pay for which is cheap-quality, mass-produced food, but it's not terrible. They have steak, they have shrimp, they have fish, etc., but it's mediocre quality at best. For example, our steaks, which we requested medium and medium rare, were definitely well done and tough. But, nothing a little steak sauce couldn't help fix. When my dad eats at Golden Corral, he always requests Heinz 57 steak sauce from our server. It's his favorite steak sauce. Golden Corral has their own "Premium Steak Sauce" at every table which, to me, tastes like their version of A1. You can get lucky when they put stuff out. For example, my wife and I happened to be passing the grill station when they served a brand new hunk of prime rib. It looked pink and perfectly cooked. We were too full at that point to try it, but it looked legit. Someone dove into it immediately and we would've been right there with them if the timing was right. Along with the steak and grilled veggies (mushrooms, onions, green bell peppers), I got some of my standbys here: romaine lettuce salad with various veggies and ranch dressing, fried okra, pecan pie, and vanilla soft serve with Oreo crumbles. No sprinkles this time, unfortunately. The floor in front of the soft serve machine and toppings was sticky. It goes without saying kids love the dessert and bakery station. My wife got salad, steak, popcorn shrimp, sweet potato souffle, and banana pudding. We both got deviled eggs from the salad bar. She didn't like them, but I thought they were OK. My mom made herself a nice large salad full of corn and other healthier items. She also got a plateful of fried chicken. My dad got his usual steak and grilled veggies (like me), okra and tomato stew (I had some; it was fine), clam chowder, chicken wings, and more. For those of you grossed out by buffets, especially high-traffic ones like Golden Corral, I don't blame you. That said, since the 90s, my parents and I have never gotten sick from eating at a Golden Corral. Ironically, I have gotten sick from eating at a Whole Foods buffet that I used to frequent for work lunches. Go figure. Since COVID, Golden Corral's eating utensils are now individually wrapped in sets and there are disposable gloves and hand sanitizing stations located around the various serving stations. Our server Blanca was great. Servers at Golden Corral help clear your table, refill your drinks, and, in my dad's case, get him his special condiment. Please remember to bring cash to tip them. Golden Corral also offers catering and online or in-store to-go orders. For example, someone in line behind us came in for a dozen yeast rolls ($6.99).

I can't keep the 4 star rating. I just can't. They're renovating, and the seating has been rearranged. Not sure if there is more seating than before but the walkways seem narrower. I had to dodge people several times as I tried to make my way past the tables and up to the buffet. They have also rearranged the soda fountain at the entrance so you fill your own drink (servers still handle the refills). 2 stars because $55 for dinner for 4 people (2 kids) does not justify this. The food is flavorless and seems mostly store bought. Fried chicken was definitely grocery store. I go for the yeast rolls, burgers on said yeast rolls, and the pecan pie. Why they don't serve burgers at dinner is beyond me, but this time there was also no pecan pie or Chinese food for that matter. There was plenty of space taken up by the salad bar. Who goes to GC for salad?? And of course the chocolate fountain has been long removed, despite other buffets having brought them back. Also inexplicably, despite going to dinner service, there were still powdered eggs and frozen pancakes available. My kid enjoyed for her birthday, but I would never choose to eat here otherwise.

    Woot woot here we come!

Although it's tucked away in an unassuming business district, this restaurant is truly a hidden gem. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by the warm, inviting space and exceptional service. Everyone made us feel welcome, and the attention to detail throughout our meal was outstanding. We started with the Ahi Tuna appetizer, which was absolutely delicious. It was served over a bed of crisp sliced cucumbers and the most amazing vinegar coleslaw. The combination of flavors was fresh, light, and memorable. Even the warm dinner rolls were outstanding and set the tone for the meal. For our entrées, the meatloaf was everything comfort food should be. It was tender, juicy, and perfectly seasoned, served over creamy mashed potatoes with fresh French green beans. We also ordered the Chef's seasonal Squash Casserole, and it was phenomenal. If it's on the menu when you visit, don't miss it. Milner's way exceeded our expectations: wonderful food, great service, and a welcoming atmosphere made for a memorable evening. We will absolutely make the trip back the next time we're in Winston-Salem.

Between excellent service, from the host to the kitchen staff, and being a bright, cheery place decorated in a modern farmhouse feel (only complaint is the HARD seating), we love this place. The food is always delicious and seasoned perfectly with FLAVOR. For the appetizer, the Salad Pizza is absolutely scrumptious and was recommended by our server our first visit here last year. Honestly, it keeps bringing us back. The flavors are incredible. It has feta, mozzarella, topped with organic greens, shaved onions, tossed in a lemon/dijon dressing with shaved parmesan. It's a flavor bomb in the mouth. The meatloaf, is to die for. If you're a meatloaf eater this is for you. It's so tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. Melts in your mouth and the sauce on top is the perfect blend of sweet and savory to top it off. For my two sides this time I chose the fried brussels sprouts and the greens. The greens are always seasoned perfectly and the brussels sprouts were crispy and full of flavor. They tasted even better dipped in my meatloaf sauce so that was a win-win. My boyfriend had the special which was short ribs. For his two sides, he had greens and green beans. The short rib was perfectly tender and absolutely delicious full of flavor and moist for him. The green beans and the greens were also perfect as well full of flavor, just enough fat and butter. It's a great little date spot or a family dinner. They also have outdoor seating covered with umbrellas. There's a bar inside with a TV if you choose to go watch sports and the food here is always on point full of flavor and makes you want to come back and try more things on the menu. You can't go wrong at southern roots.

Everything was delicious, although my partner wasn't a huge fan of the short ribs. The trout and salad were both excellent. The cheese dip was delicious. The sides were a standout, especially the Parmesan spaghetti squash, which I highly recommend. We had to put some extra salt on the sides, but that's purely personal preference. They also had several reasonably priced drink specials, which was a nice surprise. The service was amazing--friendly, attentive, and a big part of what made the meal so enjoyable. Overall, a really solid dining experience, and I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu.

I have the impression they do Greek food really well but everything else seems mediocre. I ordered the chicken fried steak, which was a small portion and lacked flavor. They also initially brought it with brown gravy covering it even though I ordered sausage gravy. Not a big deal, but they told me they had the correct one in the back and would bring it right out. I waited longer than expected for "it's already made," and I'm pretty sure I was lied to and had to wait on a re-fire, which came with the gravy inconspicuously on the side this time, but the service was friendly nonetheless. It was Valentines weekend so we ended up being there while they were quite busy. Still, the wait wasn't terrible, all considered. The French onion soup was delicious, and we were able to get it as a side for only a $2.50 up charge. Worth it! My wife got the turkey meal (not pictured, sorry) and it reminded me exactly of the tom turkey meal I used to get at the diner in NY when I was a growing up! The restaurant is large, bright, and clean though I think it tries to give southern kitchen when really they should probably lean more into the Greek diner vibes. I'll be back to update my review after I've ordered some other options off their menu.

About the food. Probably the BEST FRIED CHICKEN in the area. I really can't judge on that because I haven't sampled other fried chicken in the vicinity but based on my own research of sampling fried chicken all over North Carolina, I feel confident in my assumption. It was fried just right. It was SEASONED. It had a very nice batter that was crunchy and the chicken in the inside was tender and juicy. Every bite was tender and juicy. The hush puppies were HUGE and very crispy. Loved them. I ordered along with two coworkers. Coworker one is now in love with this place and wants to order at least once a week. Coworker two ordered meatloaf and said it was quite tasty. Negatives: Be prepared for the salt!!!!! We ordered from here twice. We got the chicken pie both times and it was wayyyyy to salty. The first order I was able to combine with the potatoes and Mac n cheese to make it edible. But the second order, all the sides were salty too and I ended up not being able to finish most of the plate. It was also disappointing because I'd ordered chicken tenders but received the chicken pie instead. While I'm wary of ordering in the future because the food is salty, my coworker loves it and we'll order again.
