This quintessential old school grill is situated in a rustic but cozy structure in a rural setting. The interior is open and most of the walls and ceiling are wood. The food is Southern style comfort food, from classic breakfast fare to burgers, fried chicken, beef tips, country style steak, pot roast,and club sandwiches, including my favorite, a cheeseburger club! In my visits here, I've had breakfast - eggs cooked perfectly over easy, and the shredded hash browns are excellent. For my lunch visits I had the Cheeseburger Club (excellent), the Chicken Livers (very nice, not the least overcooked), Country Style Steak, Hamburger Steak, and twice I chose Vegetable Plates - they have around 20 vegetables on the menu. I have tried pintos, stewed potatoes, collards, cabbage, fried okra, fried squash, mashed potatoes, corn, and cucumber salad. Wanted to grab dinner before enjoying live music from The Rockers at nearby Hanover Park Vineyard and Old Stage Grill fit the bill perfectly. We seated ourselves, menus available on the table. Order taken quickly and efficiently by our server Jocelyn. Pepsi products and Cheerwine available. Husband got the Texas melt with crinkle fries (which actually ended up being mixed in with non crinkle fries) and an extra side of fried okra, I got the bacon cheeseburger (toasted bun ) with sweet potato fries. Food was hot and tasty. The sweet potato fries were perfectly cooked - just the right amount of crispness on the outside and firm and not soggy on the inside. I asked for honey mustard, which was more mustard than honey. Husband really liked his sandwich and fries and raved over the okra. Prices were shockingly low. We'll be back. read more

We love the country food here. My husband is a fan of the chicken livers and my sister loves the meatloaf when she visits us. The only thing I don't like is country ham but that is just me. Wy wife and I stopped in for our weekly lunch date in early July. The parking lot was pretty busy when we arrived but we had no problem finding somewhere to park. We sat down and someone came by and took our drink orders. The menus were already at the table so we began to look it over. We immediately noticed that the prices were VERY reasonable! I chose the Philly combo hoagie sandwich with a side of tater tots and my wife ordered the club sandwich with a side of tater tots. The interior and exterior of the building is very charming and appears to be well kept and clean. We did notice there was a back wall of cooler doors that appeared to be full of different drink options, we aren't sure if those are intended to be to-go or if they can be served with your meal. We both ordered ice water so we aren't sure. Our food arrived lightning quick and looked great. We both agreed the tater tots were cooked perfectly, nice and crunchy on the outside but soft in the middle! We both enjoyed our sandwiches as well and felt taken care of by our waitress. I go here very often. It has really busy times like lunch/dinner later in the week and after church on Sundays. Somehow they always make enough room for you. It is a great traditional southern food spot. For breakfast, I get the breakfast burrito with bacon. I know thats not very traditional but its great. Also leave the buffalo sauce on it. Its the perfect kick. For lunch I get the the Steak Tips with Broccoli Casserole and the Corn Nuggets. The steak tips taste great. I would rather have them than a ribeye at some places. Top it off with some texas toast and a cheerwine and you've had yourself a meal. If you do want something to start with the bacon cheese fries do the job. read more

Great breakfast food: eggs cooked perfectly to order over medium. Sausage was good and hash browns were crunchy. Biscuits tasted homemade and the pancakes were fluffy and big. Service was good very friendly staff and the food came out quickly. This gets 4 stars because the coffee was zero stars. Totally not worth the $1.95 it tasted like warm water. Should have asked them to take it off the bill. Otherwise the ambiance is like a old timey southern diner and overall was enjoyable. read more

Country-style restaurant and gas station in the rural part of Yadkinville. Not sure if the gas pumps work, but they got the wall of refrigerators for the drinks, just like a gas station convenience store. They serve southern food like barbeque and fried stuff along with burgers and sandwiches. I got the fried chicken liver (good) with hushpuppies (decent), fried squash (delicious), and beets (tasted like beets). Prices are inexpensive, as the whole platter was like $5-6 plus tax and tips. I've only had two things here - the country-fried steak (or chicken-fried, can't remember which they call it) and the "Farmer Burger". The steak was okay. The steak itself was fine and the sides were mostly okay, though the corn nuggets just aren't for me. The Farmer burger, though, is fantastic ... and the reason I've only ordered basically two things. When you find something this good, why mess around? The burger itself is really tasty, and I love how they fry the egg (probably on a hot griddle with butter, I assume). The fries are fantastic and the onion rings are pretty good too. Service for takeout is okay - I keep asking for mayo on my burger and never get it, but that's why it's 4 stars and not 5 stars. read more

I visited Old Stage Grill about a couple months ago with my boyfriend. We got out of our vehicle and saw a server sitting outside on the bench so, I asked her if they closed early. She said no, we're still open, and then said we could go ahead and go in. She also noted that she just quit. We went inside and sat where there was an open table. We looked at the menu and our server took our order and we waited to be served. While we were waiting for our food the employee that was outside came in and went behind the counter to speak with one of the managers. Their conversation was very loud and my boyfriend and I were able to watch and hear what they were saying. The employee stated that she quit because she did not feel comfortable working with "him" We do not know who she was referring to then proceeded to tell the manager details. The manager then realized that we were able to see and hear what was occurring and moved the conversation to the office. After talking in the office the employee who stated the above walked outside with the manager and who we were assuming was the handyman who was fixing a light when we arrived. While they were outside another employee behind the counter stated "If he offered me money, I would've taken it." and "She's on drugs." to another employee. My boyfriend and I are Christians and we're so disappointed with what we were witnessing. Nobody called the police to report the incident. But, when we finished our meal (that continuously had flys on it) and went to pay we informed the server of our experience that we witnessed what had happened, and that we overheard a server state the above. Before finishing our meal I told my boyfriend if she was still outside we needed to pray for her. We went outside and she was still sitting on the bench as she was waiting for her mom to come pick her up (as we found out she is a minor.) She had let us know she was not the only one that has experienced the above. We asked her if she wanted to call the police to report it however, she deferred. Something else that she brought to our attention was that the manager would take the servers tips if customers used a credit card. My family will not be back to Old Stage Grill. I pray over the people involved in the past, now, and the future and that it gets resolved and brought to the appropriate attention. read more

I'll give the food 3 stars, waitress 5 stars, and the Flys get a 5 star. The flys were on point and aggressive. If you have only one set of doors, and no fly attraction on the wall to keep any that happens to get in from people's food that at least effort. But we had to tap out, and let the fly have our food. read more

The food here is delicious. I had flounder, fries and cole slaw with Texas toast. The flounder was lightly breaded and fries to perfection. The fries were hot and fresh and cole slaw was very good. Had strawberry shortcake for dessert. I will definitely return! read more

We generally eat at Old Stage Grill every Sunday. The food has always been great. Until today. Today, we had our Father's Day lunch there. My daughter ordered Teriyaki Chicken which came out as Lemon Pepper Chicken. So, she sent it back. Then it came out as Lemon Pepper chicken with Teriyaki sauce on it. To make matters worse, we ordered a second cup of coffee at 1:30. They close at 2:00. The manager refused to allow the waitress to make a pot of coffee because they were going to close in 30 minutes. Good grief! How expensive is a pot of coffee? They lost regular customers today. Such a shame. read more

The Old Stage Grill is located in rural Yadkin County (lovely drive in the country to get there) and is housed in a building with an attractive wooden interior adorned with, albeit sparsely, an antique themed hardware decor. Inside you will also discover a friendly staff serving a largely local crowd a tasty Sunday breakfast. The eggs over easy were perfect and the sausage was flavorful as was the pork tenderloin. Also very good were the grits and home fries, which had a seasoning that was different and delicious and a mystery to me. The coffee was good, and the biscuit was decent especially when compared to my other biscuit experiences. read more

The food and service from the waitresses have been awesome every time I have been to this restaurant. It's always clean and presentable. However, last week I went to speak to the manager about getting BBQ made for a wedding reception. While I was there, he was on a phone call, but the waitress gave me his phone number so I could call him later in the day. I have called 3 separate times to speak to him about this BBQ. I have yet to get an answer from him or a call back. This may not seem like it should affect the way I review this restaurant but it looks like poor management to me. read more

Some of the best meals we have ever had were at places we found by "accident" after finding that our first choice was closed (or too busy). Today we set out on a trip to the mountains and planned to stop by Jason's Deli in Winston Salem for lunch. Traffic at the exit to that area of town was lined up out into I40, so we just kept going and searched Yelp for something else. We love family style restaurants so even though this wasn't right on our way we gave it a try. Let me say that I know a bit about country cooking, so I don't throw out unwarranted compliments. This was some of the best food we have had in a long time. Delicious, crispy fried chicken cooked perfectly. Potato salad, fried okra and green beans were also really good. Cucumber salad was extra vinegary but we like it that way. And in addition to the usual roll or cornbread option they had Texas Toast! Coconut cake for dessert topped off a very satisfying meal. This grill is off the beaten path, and we actually found it while out in the county looking for real estate a few years ago. This is my wife's favorite country restaurant, and I'm also fond of it. The prices are below average and the food is always awesome. I love their catfish, stewed potatoes, & fried okra ... mmmm good. For your bread you can choose hush puppies or rolls, and they split the rolls and warm them up on the grill. I request blackberry jam to top off a delicious, warm roll. Went here over the weekend with my family. Was a little saddened that fried chicken is only served on Sunday (I wasn't the only one). Seeing as its a request by many and a good seller, maybe they should think about making it a regular on the menu. The service was good as usual. The ladies that work there are always so sweet. My husband and I ordered the bleu cheese burger. It was a nice size burger but I will have to say it was probably the sloppiest burger I've ever had. It could do without the A1.. maybe use blue cheese dressing instead (kinda like Wendy's does) it was still quite delicious. I do think their ice cream is over priced. The Old Stage is back as a great country restaurant. It had gone down hill with the last management, but the new management knows how to cook good food and provide great service. If you arrive before 11 AM, you cannot get lunch - Only breakfast. Most breakfast selections do not include toast (which cost $1.25 for two slice of bread toasted) or bread. Read the menu very closely to determine what is included or what is usually the cheapest meal of the day could become more like the price of lunch but less enjoyable. read more
