Kung Fu Tea x Pokemon team up for 3 epic drinks! - Z-A Royale Milk Tea (inspo: Tepig) passionfruit, coconut, green tea and honey boba. This one was my personal fav out of the 3; I thought it was going to be a normal milk tea; i wasnt expecting the thick coconut or the passion fruit taste. I added pudding as an additional topping and it blended so well with the coconut and thick creaminess. The boba was spot on and just the right amount of chewyness and sweetness. -Prism Town Punch (inspo: Totodile) a tropical punch with blue curacao, citrus lemonade and aloe jelly. This drink was not really my cup of tea but it tasted very similar to a mountain dew baja blast LOL -Mega Evolution Matcha (inspo: Chikorita) "creamy buttery matcha with brown sugar boba" .. This one was the worst one, in my opinion. I love a good matcha latte but this was not it. It tasted like grass, I couldnt have more than 3 sips. My friend and I finished the other 2 and thought we'd give the matcha another try; it was worse this time than the initial tasting. I have no words.... truly just not great. The boba-ristas were nice and allowed us to switch out our straw toppers. We got 2 pikachus and 1 pokeball straw topper; they are super cute. The Oreo drink is so good. Actually come to think of it, have enjoyed probably the entire menu. Whatever drink you are thinking of, they certainly seem to have it. This type of variety is rare. I've gotten everything from way undercooked to overcooked, a strange mix of both in the same cup, and today's giant clump of overcooked and all-stuck-together. It's rare to get a good batch. We wanted to try the new Kirby's Fruity Flurry with Berry Crystal Bubble. I was also able to add a free topping from the app so I chose Strawberry Jelly. It was like a slushy; fruity and refreshing, but very sweet. I loved the slush but was a little disappointed you couldn't really taste the marshmallow at all, maybe I just didn't get enough fluff in mine but it overall I still really enjoyed it! My friend ended up getting the same thing minus the Oreo and really enjoyed his. The space is still cluttered from what some other folks have posted but they do have high table tops and chairs to sit at while you wait or to chat. The staff was also very kind and fast when making the drinks, I didn't wait for more than 5 minutes before I got my drink even though there were about 4 people in front of us. Ordered one medium and one large rosehip milk tea through the kft app. Both of the drinks were half tea and half milk skim/ foam, basically air. Pretty dissatisfying as I know kft is better than this. Not sure if the workers realized that it's easier to make one portion to split between a large and a medium, but they miscalculated the volume and tried splitting that into two drinks. I could have probably gotten one medium cup and split that to get the same amount as the two half cups they gave me. I feel like I was ripped off. Paying close to $10 for basically one drink. Still a solid four but after patronizing this spot for almost a year, I've learned a few tricks of the trade. Underrated go to order: Wintermelon Milk Tea Zero Percent Sweetness Red Bean Pudding All of the milk options are dairy free which is awesome. Original milk tea is made with powdered milk but if you get a WOW milk they use Lactaid which I feel is a little bit healthier since it has a shelf life. For those watching your sugar they do blend the powdered milk with sugar so even if you get zero percent sweetness it's still going to be pretty sweet. Service here is hit or miss with how you're greeted and treated by the cashier person. Sometimes it's super friendly and sometimes it's very dismissive. But the rating of 4 stars is more around the boba and other selections. Probably more of a 3.5 star rating. The KFT is pretty standard for the chain. The quality of the drinks have been pretty consistent for me. Table availability is hit or miss depending on whether the place is overrun by students or not. It's nice that they're open relatively late compared to other places in the area. Can't complain too much about the drinks but I'm just used to the selections available at other boba places especially places like NYC or LA. They really know how to set the trend and provide a spread of boba choices! Boba here scratches the itch. I'll typically rotate between winter melon tea with boba or regular milk teas with boba. Pretty basic but the winter melon one is appreciated since the other places I've been haven't provided that. read more

Overall, Kungfu Tea is not bad of a place for bubble tea. It is nice that they are sprouting up everywhere. Most of the stores are pretty flexible and will make reasonable adjustments like substitute a topping for another of equal value (except for the Tyson's corner mall locations). They will make things right if they mess up an order. Unfortunately, I had some big disappointing experiences with their app. I was such a frequent customer that I was at their black belt level at the time. Someone was able to breach their security and hijack my account and ordered gift cards for themselves. My credit card flagged the unusual expenses and I had to get a new credit card. I did reach out to kungfu tea support about this incident and all they did was get me a new account. I lost my status and was reset down to a white belt. I also missed out on my free birthday drink reward. All this headache because of their security breach. Its left a sour note every time I go now and see no point in trying to maintain any belt level. read more

We were disappointed in the egg pudding in our Kung Fu bubble tea due to the texture. We were reassured that it was a mistake and one time thing. (could be because it wasn't fresh batch or maybe it was shaken up and broken to pieces by a newbie) The manager has reached out to refund us, very happy with their customer service. I waited for the hype to go down a little bit and stopped by one evening at 9:30pm (they close at 10pm) and it was still popping! The wait is approximately 5-15 minutes for drinks, depending on what you order. From milk tea, specialty tea, coffee, slushies, and other flavorful drinks, you get to choose how much ice you need in it and how sweet you want it to be. Oddly I like this Kung fu bubble tea location a lot more tasty than their Rockville location. I ordered their mango smoothie and their taro smoothie. Those are two flavors I truly recommend. They are super sweet so I suggest you get the less sweet versions. Instead of the 100% sweet level get the one below that level of sweet. Aka get the 70% sweet level. My sister got the iced milk tea. This is another flavor I highly recommend. It's delicious and it doesn't get sickening. For this one get their 100% sweetness. Their iced bubble teas are less sweet than their smoothie bubble tea. Their bubbles are very soft and bouncy. It's warm and a perfect contrast to the cold and sweet tea. They are very generous with their bubbles. Their pudding is also a delicious addition to your bubble tea. Plus, it's only an additional 50 cents to add the pudding, so definitely ask for that. read more

It was a perfect combination with the tea because the pudding does not over power the tea. Their bobas were soft and perfectly chewy. I like how their bubble teas are not super sweet because you can actually enjoy the tea flavor. Their interior is relaxed and very crowded. There's so much to choose from, its almost overwhelming. The selection ranges from slushies, coffee, yogurt, punch, milk tea, milk strike tea, etc etc. I cop out and get the classic milk tea. MAJOR KEY: You can customize your drink to any topping, sweetness, or ice level! I'm not huge into super sweet, so I bump it down to 50% sweetness, with no ice (unless its super hot outside, the drink is cold enough), and Nata Jelly (jelly derivative of the lychee fruit). Who doesn't love bubble tea? This place has everything! All sorts of combinations and flavors. The line can get long and I tend to go when it is not busy. My favorite is taro with nata jelly or pudding or any kind of milk tea with boba. I have tried their winter melon milk green tea, honey tea, lychee punch, milk tea, taro milk green tea, oreo milk tea, oolong tea, slushies, wow milk tea. All of the flavors are great. You can request to adjust the sweetness on some of the drinks which is awesome because some drinks can be too sweet. The boba has a nice texture and very chewy. The herbal jelly is also good because it's not too sweet. The pudding is also good because it has a soft custard like taste. The mung bean and red bean reminds me of the tapioca desserts you get from chinese restaurants. I've only ever gotten the slushes from here because I know I'd probably inhale just a plain drink. My favorite of all time is the mango snow. We came around 8:45pm, and a HUGE line formed after I got inside (once I saw the large groups of asians approaching in the parking lot, I knew I had to hurry inside). Either way, luckily I got in before the rush because I had a lot of questions for the cashier since I've never been to their other locations. She tried to help me as well as she could, to order a drink I'd like. I settled for the Taro Green Milk tea with boba. A large cup was $5.04 exactly. The cup was OK-sized, and it's kind of pricey for just a drink. The Taro Green milk tea was WAYYYY too sweet. I do notice they let you adjust the sugar levels, so next time I'll try "70% sweetness" instead. My friend ordered the same thing, and he agreed he doesn't want diabetes. The boba balls were chewy and a good consistency. Overall, in surrounding areas, including Falls Church, there are a TON of boba places. You gotta be really great to stand out. After my visit today, I left with an unpleasant sugar high, but I may return in the late, late future after they establish themselves. read more

Hubby and I were doing a lot of cleaning / organizing and I decided we needed a break, perhaps even a cold sweet treat. Kung Fu Tea had been on my radar and this seemed like the perfect time to give them a try. While I am certainly not a boba expert I have consumed sweet treats with tapioca balls at a couple other NOVA locations and it was something I had enjoyed, it was a whole new world for hubby. I went with the coffee milk with bubbles (I was deciding between the coffee milk and the coconut milk and asked the woman ringing us up which to pick). It was a great sweet treat! I really enjoyed the bubbles! They were softer than ones I had at other locations (less of a chewing challenge) and had their own flavor. I think I detected honey that provided a nice contrast. It was an enjoyable sweet treat. Service is quick and the place is always clean! KFT will always be a classic and the drinks are always consistent. For first timers I typically recommend the Black Milk Tea with Bubbles or the Wintermelon Milk Green Tea. All my family members love the wintermelon milk green tea when I first introduced it to them. The taste is similar to caramelized melon with milk. If you aren't a fan of milk teas, try their fruit drinks! One of their newer drinks is White Grape Oolong tea and it's AMAZING! My family and I stopped by this KFT for a cool drink on a very hot day. After ordering the drinks we grabbed a cool table with seats that could move around a bit (great for socializing if your party was sitting across two tables) and took in the clean restaurant and fun decor. The staff was nice and our drinks were ready in a jiff. From downloading the KFT app on his phone, the hubby had a $4.00 credit he used for a Matcha Red Bean slush. The drinks were tasty, as always. I really enjoyed my almond milk tea, it was light, and the bobas were delightful! The hubby also enjoyed his Matcha Red Bean. What can I say..I pretty much frequent this location being that it's the closest one. Put it this way...this is the new hipster college hangout if you don't have time to wait don't bother unless your stopping by during some random hour which is a Sunday night or some random other night during the week. If it's Friday or Saturday Night expect the line to be to the door and backwards. It literally will wrap around the store. Anyway....enough about the ridiculous lines. They have a extensive menu with any and every combination of bubble tea,coffee,tea juice,slush. Minus the option of flavored jelly other then herbal and Nata but with all the flavors of tea and slush why do you need flavored jelly? That's just being greedy. My go to is always the peach oolong with bubbles but recently I tried the yogurt grapefruit with bubbles it taste like that frozen yogurt dessert you find in the Korean market. Um..can I say it's oober delicious love it! I've also tried just the grapefruit tea at a location in Houston,TX another refreshing option so put it this way. There is real juice in there stuff.
