I was surprised to find that I hadn't yet left a review for KG Performance on Yelp. I've been coming to Kevin and Floyd for all of my car repairs ever since I had a horrible experience with another local shop. Kevin and Floyd are always up front, honest, and set realistic expectations in terms of time and cost. They have proven time and time again that they are a trustworthy shop that does the job right. I love that KG Performance is up-to-date with their technology. When you bring your car in, they will enter it into their system and send you an email with the results of the initial inspection. They will then send you another email with their recommendations, including a list of GOOD, BETTER, and BEST (OEM) replacements to help you budget. You can approve and pay for the maintenance right from the email, and you can even chat with the service manager if you have any questions. When the job is complete, you will receive an email notification that your car is ready for pickup. I love KG Performance and trust them with my Dodge 2500 diesel workhorse and my wife's Durango SRT8. I would even take my SRT to KG instead of the dealer. P.S. KG Performance also sells some really cool pens that have a screwdriver fitting on one end. They have a phillips head on one side and a flathead on the other, and they also have a ruler and a level. It is really difficult to find a high quality German independent shop. I am fortunate to have discovered KG Performance. The SRS light was flashing on my 2006 Mercedes-Benz SL500. Having only recently acquired the car, and the fact that it is out of warranty, I needed to find a really good, honest shop. I texted Kevin through his website. He immediately responded and told me the good and bad of what the SRS light could be. I made an appointment and brought my car in. Kevin immediately identified the problem as a faulty relay. He also identified a cracked drive belt, a bad pully, and a potential flaw with the roll bar sensor. Kevin was transparent with the repair costs, both in terms of cost and timing. Throughout the entire process he was polite and not pushy. He merely explained what needed to be done and gave me the option. Kevin and his team at KG Performance & Auto Repair are outstanding! They are friendly, efficient, and honest. My wife has been taking her Toyota Prius to another shop in town just out of routine and habit - never exploring anywhere else to have her car serviced. On her most recent visit she was told that some work needed to be done, which I wasn't too sure about since they'd serviced the same issue not too long ago. Knowing Kevin, we decided to take the car in for him to service the issue since we've been meaning to switch over to him as our primary car mechanic. I'm so glad we have finally done that!! Kevin took the time to review the issue previously told to us, he identified that there was no issue (all tested good), and that he'd rather save us money than doing the job just for the heck of it. When picking up the car, Kevin also helped me reset a prompt on my Toyota 4Runner since I'd been having trouble resetting myself. He didn't have to do that, but he cared enough to. I was referred to Kevin/KG through a mutual friend when my car died on the freeway on-ramp. The engine shook the entire car and left me stranded. I was sure my engine seized and was expecting a very pricey repair. Kevin assessed my vehicle quickly and discovered the issue was a sensor, not my engine, which resulted in a repair bill under $500. The most HONEST (ethics & cost wise) repair shop Ive ever had the pleasure of "accidentally" ending up in! I drive a 2014 BMW X3, and one twin engine turbo went out while I was camping alone on the Pacific Coast Highway. Dealership quote 10k+ (?!?!), but Kevin quoted me around 4k. After getting there he was able to reduce the cost by almost 1k and I ended up with a 3 year warranty on the part! The shop is immaculate, the area has everything you need if you get stranded. I recently had the unfortunate experience of having my turbo break on my 2017 Honda. After taking the car to the Honda dealership where the Honda team caused more damage to my engine by performing an unnecessary flush, I was left stranded with a broken car, $800 in the hole and my car still broken. I found this repair shop by chance, since I was actually next door getting my smog certificate done. I needed to get my parking lamps replaced on my BMW and was referred to them by the Smog Check Only shop. I believe it was the owner that helped me out and he was very nice, courteous, professional. They were able to do the job in just s few minutes at a reasonable price (half the price that BMW dealer wanted to charge). My truck needed new shocks so I requested a bunch of quotes via yelp. KG estimate for parts and labor was the best Price. I couldn't find another estimate anywhere near it; so I was a little hesitant. Especially since there are no reviews for this shop on yelp and not a whole lot anywhere else. I decided to go with kg performance after I talked on the phone with them. I set an appointment for the next day. That morning I brought my truck in around 9 and they had finished it by 11. First off, I took my car to Firestone in Thousand Oaks to get an oil change back in March and they told me I would need to get 2 new tires next time I came in. The low tire pressure light has been on in my car ever sense then so I returned there to get them to give me the 2 new tires. After making an appointment- I waited for 2 hours there and only got quoted. This time it was for 4 new tires and a hub cap replacement for the amount of $1,200.00. This was outrageous!!! So angered by that experience I took to yelp for answers and found this amazing shop! The owner (Kevin) replied to my message online very quickly and helped to set me up with an appointment to take a look at my car. An hour into my appointment my car was ready to go and didn't need any of the things mentioned by Firestone's team. Instead he replaced 2 of the tires studs and adjusted the tire pressure in the cars wheels for the wonderful pricing of $130 in comparison. The car sense then hasn't shown any other signs of issues to require additional maintenance and I'm thrilled. The work here is honest, hard working, trustworthy, & dependable. I saved so much time, $$, & energy coming to KG Performance and I couldn't be more thankful for the experience. You don't feel like you're getting screwed over into paying some ridiculous labor costs that will put you further into debt & the team there are happy to explain what exactly is necessary for your car- which is great! I will also add-- they worked on my car which is a Subaru Impreza so if you have Subaru -- don't hesitate taking your car here for maintenance because they know exactly what to do! You can't see the shop from the streets but it's behind the AT&T on Daily Dr. Mr Floyd and his team are so professional thought I was in a different place, everything was performed by communication through emails given you a complete diagnosis of your car on email and payment too. I bought a Toyota Tacoma from a private seller and it's was a lemon to say the least. So I took it to k and g performance and they found a new engine for my truck and installed it in about 2 1/2 weeks. They went though the new engine and replaced all the seals and used every from the old engine they could to save me money. I haven't had any issues since. I can not recommend them enough. I went for an oil change and was quoted $150. That is a ridiculous amount for a simple oil change. I instead went to a nearby mechanic shop and paid a lot less $57.47. If they're dishonest about the cost of an oil change I wouldn't trust them with any other service in fear of getting ripped off. read more

I had purchased a 40 year old Volvo with over 290,000 miles on it right before the lockdown. When things inevitably started going wrong with it I found KG Performance. I was certain I needed at least a clutch and engine mounts among other repairs. After looking at the car KG called to inform me that neither the clutch or engine mounts needed to be replaced, and other repairs were simple and inexpensive. This experience showed me that KG is an honest and reliable shop. Since then I bring my car here exclusively and have had a myriad of repairs done from Freon conversion to ignition and belts. Every repair has been quality, but service is where KG shines. The owner/main mechanic talks to customers clearly and politely. The people who work here all talk to customers like people, not as dollar signs. I would recommend KG Performance to anyone looking for a reliable and honest mechanic that you can trust. read more

Dishonest and clearly didn't know what he was doing on this one. First, I called the shop thinking that it was still Swedish Performance, who had always done excellent work. When I found out that it was a new shop, I should have stopped there. Anyway, I asked for and was quoted a price to do a torsion bar adjustment on my vehicle. I confirmed that this was the price for an actual adjustment, not an inspection, so I brought the car in. The next day I received a call saying that he (Kevin) looked up the specs for the adjustment, but that he wouldn't adjust it past this amount. I told him to go ahead and adjust it to the specs and he told me that it was going to cost more than the original quote because it was more involved than he thought. This amount was over five times the original quote, and this was not based on parts or other work other than just the adjustment. Kevin quoted me for work that I knew to be unnecessary in order to perform the adjustment. At five times the original quote I didn't authorize him to do the adjustment. When I picked up the vehicle, I asked Kevin if he had measured the part that needed the adjustment as the specs were dependent upon the dimensions of that particular. He told me he had not, so I asked him how he knew what the spec was. He didn't, he simply told me a spec for a part. Kevin still charged me despite having actually performing no work on the vehicle, misleading me with the original quote and making up a specification. In fact, the invoice states "This job has a lot more involved than we originally anticipated" although it was a straightforward standard adjustment for this type of vehicle. In the end, a big waste of my time and money with no actual work performed. read more
