It was my birthday, and before heading out for the day, we decided to order a handful of donuts from Donut Fantasy for a quick breakfast. We ended up getting a maple bacon cronut, regular glazed cronut, blueberry apple fritter, apple-stuffed bear claw, cinnamon roll, chocolate old-fashioned, and a chocolate bar. Normally, donuts are donuts unless you're going to a truly standout place, but something about these donuts genuinely made me want to leave a review afterward. The cronuts were excellent, especially the maple bacon version. Even later into the morning, they still seemed to have a pretty good selection available, which was nice to see. But honestly, the biggest standout by far was the chocolate bar. I'm not exaggerating when I say this may have been the best chocolate bar donut I've ever had. What's even more impressive is that we ordered through a food delivery app, so this wasn't fresh out of the display case. It had gone through delivery and sat for a bit before we ate it, and it was still unbelievably soft and pillowy. The chocolate itself also stood out. It tasted richer and more real than the typical frosting you get at most donut shops. Oddly enough, it even tasted different from the chocolate on the chocolate old-fashioned. I can't fully explain it, but it just tasted higher quality and more flavorful. Everything we ordered was good, but that chocolate bar absolutely stole the show. One thing I noticed is that they probably offer even more items in-store than what's listed on the delivery apps, likely because inventory rotates throughout the morning. I was hoping to find a chocolate French cruller on the app, but no luck this time. Overall, if you're looking for really solid donuts in Fresno, especially if you want delivery, Donut Fantasy is absolutely worth trying. And seriously, don't sleep on the chocolate bar. read more

I love this place! So many donut options. Moreover, their breakfast sandwiches are fantastic for a great price. The owner is friendly and tends to each and every customers needs. These donuts and the variety of unique donuts they offer is incredible. I had no problem spending $14+ for 6 donuts. They are really huge compared to most donuts I have had at other shops. I like that they had a price chart showing exactly how much each donut costs before you have them pick it up for you and I really like that some had little descriptions of what the donut was. We came in here on a late tuesday morning. Every time we pass by we come at a time when its closed so we caught them at the right time. All around the parking lot you can see pictures of the fun and unique donuts they offer. When we went in there weren't that many fun ones to choose from. Went here recently when visiting family. Very cool donut place. Parking is pretty easy. Theres a parking lot that it shares with nearby businesses and most spaces were empty when we got there. The people working there were really nice. I really enjoyed the creativity of all the donuts and also the prices! I saw the When Pigs Fly and it was a wrap. You know your boy loves Maple. Been wanting to come here since I moved back from Orange County to Fresno a few years ago. There's a lot of places like this down in the OC but glad Fresno has a cool insta spot like this. I came in yesterday at about 2:00 in the afternoon and to my surprise they were still open. When I walked in I imeadetly knew that they had changed owners because the old owner would close as soon as they sold out of donuts. They had a few new items on there menue lots of sandwiches which they never had before so I decided to try the Roast beef croissant sandwich and it was bomb!! [Review #196] Whenever I visit my relatives, we typically eat out at least once... usually my aunt's favorite dim sum restaurant. En route, I noticed a new donut shop, Donut Fantasy, that I haven't seen before & tagged it so I can try it on my next visit. When I finally had the opportunity to try them on a late Wednesday afternoon, I wasn't sure if I was in the right shop because the racks were empty. :-O Then a guy came out & said he was planning on closing up (it was almost 4:30 PM) because they're mostly out. I asked if there was anything left & if you combined everything, it barely made 2 racks. Since I'm a newb, he took the time to describe the donuts that I was interested in & I end up picking 5: 2 Blueberry Fritters, Banana & Nutella Crodough, Gummy in our Tummy, & Hostess Cupcake. While I was getting ready to pay for my treats, I noticed a calendar with their "specials" & Wednesday was "Joke Day." If you tell a joke, you earn a free donut. I ended up telling one of my LO's knock knock jokes. LOL =) She was super happy to hear that I earned the "Gummy in our Tummy" donut with her joke. And she loved it even more because it has gummy bears. I liked their changeup on the classic apple fritter, using blueberries instead of apples. This was my favorite of the 4, it had good flavor & texture. The Banana & Nutella Crodough was flat... probably because it was the end of the day. The concept & flavor (banana & Nutella) combination was a good idea, but didn't have the crispy & flaky texture of a fresh 'cronut.' The Gummy in our Tummy is just a frosted cake donut topped with mini gummy bears. Cute, but overly sweet. The least favorite was the Hostess Cupcake; DF's donut version was a hot mess. :-( Their interpretation was a yeast donut filled with buttercream & decorated with chocolate icing; there was so much buttercream that that's all you taste. I think a chocolate cake donut with a small dollop of buttercream would work better than a yeast donut pumped to the hilt. TIP: DF has weekday "Happy Hours" from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM with 1/2 price donuts! But if they sell-out, they will close early. Donut Fantasy is situated in the back of the plaza of a busy intersection. Its large windows gives customers interior views of its fantasy & plenty exterior views of the busy parking lot. While there is an abundance of parking spaces, it is also home to Dutch Brothers, Baskin Robbins, Me-n-Ed's On Tap, Kumon, etc. so you may be competing for a spot. And there's indoor patio-type seating to enjoy your donut(s) right away. The employee I encountered was knowledgeable & provided friendly customer service. While presented as a gourmet/specialty donut shop, I feel Donut Fantasy's execution is not on par to be considered as gourmet, & for some reason, they remind me of Psycho Donuts in Campbell, CA. :-O It seems to me that DF uses a donut base, adds various toppings, & voila! here's your "gourmet" donut. A gourmet donut uses quality &/or seasonal ingredients, housemade fillings & toppings; infuses flavors in both its base donut batter & toppings to tie it together, or similar flavors that are complementary. For example, to elevate DF's Nutella Crodough to gourmet status, add some hazelnuts or hazelnut flavor in the crodough, or top with roasted hazelnuts to tie in the Nutella theme, even better they make their own fresh Nutella instead of using the jar. It's always a hit or miss here. I agree with the others that you need to go early for the specialty donuts! That's a given, and honestly I think everyone would benefit from them dialing down their conventional offerings and amp up their unique creations. Some are great and some are a stretch, but this is definitely the place to go when you want to excite people who haven't been here yet. The raspberry cheesecake is one of the best ones(on a good day) as well as the Bavarian creme and Hostess cupcake imitation. I've been at all times of the day, most recently about 11am, and usually about half the time the donuts are on the stale side. I've yet to figure out why but when they're fresh they're so delicious. I went in at about 10 AM on a Saturday and there were tons of things to choose from. I was in a rush so I got the cutest glazed donut I saw, called "Puppy Paw" ! Great tasting donut! I also got a small coffee, they had 2 types to choose from , a hazelnut and one other regular coffee and only had coffee mate creamer single serve liquid things so coffee is not their thing but the donuts more than make up for it ! I'm a big fan of Donut Fantasy. I'm a regular for sure, and I'm not officially from Fresno. I'm from San Jose. Those cool unique flavors and combos of donuts you see on social media using colorful toppings and such--you can find here. If that is what you are after, come here. A bonus is Dutch Bros is in the same plaza. I've had several of the unique flavors, such as fruity pebbles, jolly rancher, the hot cheetos, bacon on maple bar, just to name a few. I honestly enjoyed them all except this one on an old fashion donut--I believe a rocky road. I just don't like old fashion donuts in general so that might be a bias. But all the other donuts are tasty. My favorite is the fruity pebbles. The donut itself even before all the glazing and toppings have a nice soft consistency which is very important in me judging a donut. I've never had a stale donut here--unless you save it for the following day--which goes to show everything is made fresh on the day of. What I love about this place is being able to order custom donuts. The letter donuts were a hit for my daughter's birthday. Surprisingly not many places do letter donuts--I can tell you it's hard if not near impossible to find a place in San Jose where I'm from. So many designs to pick from. I feel the prices were fair.This is certainly not just a regular plain jane donut shop and I can understand being priced a little bit more, but still felt it was a good price especially compared to what I'm seeing in San Jose. They're quite delicious, but many of them I feel cross the line between donuts, and cake. Specifically the poop emoji, has a big gob of buttercream frosting in the middle and it's covered in a thing chocolate shell. Donuts definitely blur the line of having cake for breakfast, but some of these completely over step the line. I'm not saying they taste bad in any sense, but as a breakfast donut place?
