I needed a licensed contractor for basement repairs after Hurricane Ida for a FEMA appeal claim. I contacted Khan and he agreed to give me a written estimate to submit with my claim. After nearly 6 months of back and forth with FEMA I was finally given a small award that couldn't cover the cost of repairs. Khan (the company owner) responded within minutes of my call for a free estimate. He showed up within 15 minutes and we discussed the project thoroughly. The original estimate was slightly higher than I had hoped but we were able to agree on a reasonable and fair price for the work that had to be performed. Khan Home Improvement started work and completed the job on days ahead of schedule and I was truly amazed that it looked like the home had just been built. The interior finishes were amazing and all the work was done by professional craftsmen. They used the proper tools and equipment, cleaned the site at the end of each day, and did a final cleanup when the work was completed. My home appraisal has risen dramatically (three time what the work cost to complete) so it was worth every penny and I can market my home for tens of thousands more than what I was told by the bank just a few months ago. Called MR. Khan to give me an estimate on a bricks waterproofing and roofing. Mr. Khan replied that he will charge me to come to my home in Brooklyn just to give Me an estimate. I haven't heard anything like that before, especially when it comes to give you an estimate. I called him because he has some good reviews online. How can you charge to someone just to give you a simple estimate. When I asked him why he is charging me for an estimate, he replied "I have to come to your house." Thank you MR. But he sounded intelligent about what I needed, so I made an appointment. $150 cash to come and see what had to be done in my apartment. Did not show, and when I called, the person I talked to sounded sleepy and said he would get there later. I called it all off. They could have done good work, I don't know. I personally think this company is one of the best construction company I've ever hired. They've done everything to ensure the client is happy and have his or her interests met. I had window lintel and wall demolished and replaced. Mr. Khan did charge for an estimate, but later deducted it from the proposal when I hired him to be my contractor. He has his reasons for charging certain estimates for certain things but from my standpoint he is very fair and does not cheat. Would hire this company any day regardless of who says what. read more

A re-pavement of both sidewalk and drive way, all whilst giving tips on how to best care for, and protect was everything I expected from an experienced Contractor. I usually don't write any reviews and I admire people who have the courage to put pen to paper and expose themselves to many. It has been my experience that part of the problem is bad contractors often look and sound like good contractors at the start of a job but reveal their true nature once the work is underway, but Khan Home Improvement was the exception to that rule and I feel compelled to take the time and write this review about Khan Home Improvement. I am so very fortunate that I found Khan Home Improvement and hired them for the job to completely gut (complete demolition), renovate the entire second floor apartment (including foyer that leads up to apartment) of my two family historic Brownstone in Windsor Terrace, Brooklyn, NY and restore the house to its former historic glory. From the moment I telephoned Khan Home Improvement, the owner and workers treated me and my family w/ the utmost respect and most importantly, as with my property. I interviewed Khan Home Improvement along w/ other contractors and I chose Khan Home Improvement because the contractor exhibited the set of characteristics a good and trustworthy contractor has. Khan was very willing to show us proof of his insurance, license and provide references to the quality of his work. He worked with a contract that clearly defines his responsibilities as well as mine. He pointed out the importance and necessity of permits and building inspections to verify the work has been done according to industry standards and local building codes. He didn't ask that we pay for a job upfront but required 40% as a deposit to begin work, 35% in later installments and final 25% at time of job being completed. He used quality materials as called for in the contract and didn't try to substitute lower quality goods. He invited us to join him in shopping to prove great quality materials are being used. He showed up at the job site each day and supervised his workers and sub contractors. He, most importantly, treated my home and property w/ great respect and welcomed all the questions I asked. Khan once mentioned to us that he treats all clients and their property as if they are his own and I now see that he was not at all kidding. I was NOT over-promised, then under-delivered...as is often the case when dealing with other home contractors. My project was carefully and professionally planned and expertly accomplished within the time-frame promised and within the budget I set. There were no additional charges or hidden fees. The gutting and renovation of my second floor apartment involved upgrading the electric power from 30 amp service panel (two 15a fuses) to 100 amp service panel circuit breaker, a newly created open concept kitchen (cabinetry, backsplash, plumbing, etc) & living space, new wood floors, ceilings, insulation, walls, doors, crown molding (around windows, doors and ceilings), baseboards, new framing/layout of the apartment, worked professionally and courteously with the HVAC company that installed ductless air condition & heating (HVAC) and the company that installed the new windows. The companies hired for the HVAC and windows worked side by side with Khan Home Improvement without any issues. Each company respected each other and the HVAC Company and Window Company greatly praised the owner of Khan Home Improvement on his and his workers professionalism, courteousness, quality and beauty of work. The great quality work, attention to detail and cleanliness we expected from a professional company really showed with the finished project. I used Khan Home Improvement to construct brick steps for a back door and to stucco around the foundation. I was very happy with the results. The estimate was accurate with no surprise charges and the cost was reasonable and within an appropriate range of cost of similar work. I found Khan Home Improvement after a web search when local contractors were not responsive. Mr. Khan responded to my email the same day and was responsive to all of my communication with him. He started and completed the job on schedule and without delay. I was very impressed with the work ethic and attention to detail of Mr. Khan and his employees. His workers were very meticulous and Mr. Khan was present to supervise the work every day. We had an opportunity to select the brick color and the granite steps and they look great. The stucco work was very labor intensive including removing and cleaning the original foundation to get down to the bare stone and then applying two coats of thick cement over a 10 day period. Clean-up was thorough and I am very happy with the job. My neighbors also remarked that they liked the work. I recommend Mr. Khan for any work you need and I would use him again without hesitation.
