At first Alexus did a good job, but over time she started making cuts/ trims in ways I did not like and had not told her to do. Each time I told her I do not like these weird cuts. After several haircuts/beard trims, I think I finally got through to here and the last time I was in which was 5 weeks ago, she did a good job. I am always early so today (02/07/2026 as I was sitting in the parking watch as I am always early for my appointment at 10:00am. She took a new customer in at 09:43am. So I went inside at 09:55, and she was working on this customers hair, she did not greet me or say sorry I am running late, not a single word. I sat and waited until 10:10am then I walked out. Thinking that she must not want to cut my hair or trim my beard anymore as she has screwed up so many times before. At 10.22am, she starts calling me, but I was driving and don't talk on the phone when driving. At 10:33 she sent me a text, saying she assumed I was not going to get my haircut. Then went on to say sometimes she runs late, not knowing I was sitting in the parking lot and know what time she took that customer in, Had she not done that she would not have been running late. Then she told me that because of me she has a gap in her schedule and if I want her to cut my hair in the future I have to pay her for today. What a joke, trying to blame me for something she caused! I live 20 miles away and so I drive there just to get a decent haircut and beard trim. Not sure if I will find another stylist at at Grit or take my business somewhere else. MAYBE THE NEW OWNERS NEED TO PAY ATTENTION TO HOW THERE STYLIST ARE DOING AND CUTOMER TREATMENT!!!

A friend posted on Facebook a picture of her hair, which had been cut by Maren. I was excited to have a consultation with Maren and she discussed what she would do. I went back a month later for my cut/style. She was meticulous, taking her time, cutting what seemed to be just a small fingerful of hair at a time. She washed it, conditioned it and applied a gel to soaking wet hair. Then, using a wire lifter, she dried very small sections at a time with a diffuser. The end product was hundreds of well-defined curls. I love the cut and style. I felt dowdy before but this is a perky, bouncy style, the BEST cut in my entire life. I went to get a perm the other day, and while the curls themselves turned out nicely, the service…read morewas extremely unpleasant. To start out, my stylist was 20 minutes late to our appointment. While my hair was processing, she left cotton soaked with perm chemicals around my head which caused burns on my skin, of which I'll include pictures. I told her about this and she ignored it. Then, when she was washing out the chemicals, she failed to put a towel behind my neck causing my entire back and clothes to get wet and making them smell like chemicals. She brushed this off by saying that perms are messy, but there is absolutely no reason why my clothes should have gotten soaked during a hair appointment. She also kept spraying the hot water on my burns regardless of me telling her how much it hurt. Throughout the 4 hour process, she stopped whatever she was doing to take NUMEROUS phone calls and kept me waiting way longer than was necessary. The appointment easily could have been 3-3.5 hours if she wasn't so distracted during it. This is not to mention that was was very aggressive when brushing and washing my hair. Regardless of me saying "Ouch" when she pulled on my hair with the brush, not being gentle at all, she just continued. I was extremely uncomfortable the whole time and just wanted to get it over with. I was clearly in pain and discomfort the whole time, even verbally expressing it, and she didn't care. It was also unnerving to have her discuss wild conspiracy theories about Covid-19 & phone tracking during the appointment. She even took off her mask/shield because "she couldn't see through it" regardless of the law's requirements. I couldn't recommend more that you avoid this place.
