Tbh, was very hesitant to come to this store due to so many bad reviews. We are from Boston. We first heard of this place from my mom. She had a friend who gave her some Xi muoi and kho bo to try and she loved it. As a good daughter that I am, I am here to fulfill my duty and came here to get her some. The place just opened when me and my fiancé came by. The lady helped us was very kind and helpful. I told her my mom wanted the sweet and sour Xi muoi. She let us sampled some and we instantly felt like it was the one my mom would like. Excitedly, got 2 lbs. I asked her what were the most popular kho Bo items. She said it depends on the customer and the customers usually sample before they buy. She encouraged us to sample and offer generously amount for me and my fiancé to try. The employee was very helpful and kind. She was never pushy. Everything was packaged very nicely. Don't hesitate to come!

You must visit this little shop that is located in the Hong Kong market. It offers a wide variety of candies and snacks, but the real treat is their wide variety of Asian jerkies. You can sample, but to avoid being reprimanded in Vietnamese (or broken English), let the workers get the samples for you. I tried the beef jerkies that range in flavors from sweet to salty to spicy. Everything I tried was good. I was surprised by how much you get in a 1/2 pound order, but I'm sure it will go too fast. Your order is sealed in air tight packaging to keep jerky from drying out, and that is perfect for travel.

Kho bo!!!!!!! Half pound honey flavor and the other is half pound houston special!

Shut down your store. No point in having a business if you push your customers away from buying.

They have high end stuff I couldn't touch: birds' nest 燕窩, ginseng 人蔘, ganoderma 靈芝and exotic herbal medicines. Whenever I need anything for my house, I come to Hong Kong Seafood City because all merchandise is imported directly from the sources. I am never disappointed with the friendly staff's recommendation. They helped me decide for each occasion. The prices are always competitive and products are always fresh. Don't be misled by the category, this "seafood market" sells dried, frozen or canned seafood. Don't expect fish tank here.

The seafood manager told us it would be over $60 and we said that was fine. He picked one for us and handed it to a worker to clean/prep. While we were picking blue crabs nearby, we saw the worker struggling. My mom politely tried to explain how to clean it properly (she wasn't being rude -- she was trying to help because the worker looked lost). The worker responded with a nasty attitude, brushed her off, and kept ignoring her while chatting with a coworker. Then the worker handed us the bag and said, "Next time I'm not even going to clean it for you -- get out of here!" I've never had an employee speak to my family like that in a grocery store. We were so upset we didn't even take the bag and walked away to finish shopping. At checkout, the seafood manager came over with the same worker and asked why we left it. We explained what happened. Instead of apologizing or trying to resolve it, the manager got rude and accused us of leaving it because we can't afford it. That's not only unprofessional -- it's insulting, especially because we agreed to the price from the start and were prepared to pay. And to make things worse, while the worker was chatting with his coworker during the prep, I overheard him saying words like "chinos" and "pinches." I'm not fluent, but I know enough Spanish to recognize when someone is talking about customers in a disrespectful way. It's disturbing to hear that in a store where a lot of customers are Asian. This wasn't a "bad day" situation. It was outright hostility from an employee and a manager who escalated things instead of doing his job. We only took the turtle after demanding an apology, but the experience was already ruined. I won't be returning. If management cares, they need to retrain or replace staff in seafood -- because nobody should be spoken to like that while spending money in your store.

The fruit quality is usually okay if you can parse through everything. There's usually a lot of bruised apples and some potato that's on its way to the grave, but I'm generally happy with the produce. The precut fruit area is super convenient too! The meat area has tons of shabu meats to choose from as well as parts you may not find as easily at usual American grocers. Chicken feet, rabbit, goat hooves-- go wild~ The seafood section has packed sashimi as well as a poke bar as well. The sashimi has been pretty good the few times I've had it. You can find salmon heads, fish collars, etc. here too for your recipes! I like perusing through the frozen section-- lots of fun finds like trending desserts (fruit shaped ice cream right now), dumplings/buns, Asian street food snacks. Overall, this Hmart is a convenient place to shop when I'm in the area or need to stock up for a recipe. Happy it's here!

The prices are similar to others, but the portions were generous! They told us to buy shrimp from the store's seafood department and they cooked it for $7. The salt & pepper shrimp had a slightly sweet taste that the guys really liked. The beef & flat noodles had a great wok sear. The chunks of roast pork were big and went well with the fried tofu. The Singapore noodles were especially delicious as the noodles had a good amount of curry, were dry yet moist and there were plenty of meat bits - it was better than a couple of favorite restaurants I can name in Chinatown! The fish could have used more salt, but it was a good sized dish. The eggplant was also a generous serving. We're coming back this week with 20 of our good friends! This market is one for the largest Vietnamese markets I've ever been to, offering a wide variety of fresh fruits, frozen foods, dry goods, imported sauces, sweets and more. I particularly love their extensive rice paper selections. My favorite is the "no water" rice paper, which doesn't require dipping in water to roll up like traditional ones. Unfortunately, this type of rice paper is available at every asian market so I'm happy Tan Binh has them. They also have a nice section dedicated to ready-to-eat and hot foods. You can grab and go with options like fried fish, tofu, and cooked meats. Customer service is usually pretty friendly. Just like anywhere else, you should check the expiration date of every product before buying. My cousin forgot to do so and bought two boxes of solar dried bananas that were expired.
