Like many other Yelpers I grabbed a Groupon for laser hair removal for 6 sessions at only $100. Such a steal. I arrived on time and was taken back to the room shortly after. The woman asked me a few questions about my skin, hair, and shaving routines (I was getting treatments on my underarms). She explained the process and what I should expect. The process was very fast and I was out the door in probably 10 minutes or so. The pain was very tolerable for me. It's been 2 weeks and I am already seeing results in hair growth and the darkness under my arms. The Art of Natural Beauty Center is in a great location in Cobble Hill with plenty of public transportation nearby. This place was as natural as a bear naked in the forest. Ashley was a delight and a pleasure; I felt like my best friend took care of me as I underwent my European Facial and then my Body Wrap. Ashley: "Is it alright that we do the facial first then the body wrap? You're not in a rush are you? I enjoy giving facials!" Bubbly, knowledgeable, and comforting throughout my whole 2 1/2 hour visit; I closed the place since I was the last appointment of the night. Facial: Every step was explained and soft music that reminded me of Japan played in the background. The room was spotless and cool enough to keep me comfortable. I totally lovedddd the scrub that she used (I would use it for my T-zone type once a week) but I forgot to get more details about it afterward. All products are available on site, and I wasn't pressured to get anything at all. Wrap: In my sleeping bag cocoon for 30 minutes, I sweat alot on the lowest possible setting with my seaweed coating all over my body. Ashley checked on me frequently and I decided to keep the heat going so my skin would be baby bottom soft and smooth after. Results: It's been over a week later and my skin is still gorgeous and lush! I went in for cheek and chin fillers for the first time ever having fillers not knowing what to expect and very excited for cheek fillers. Having done research, I was very excited to have chosen Khrom. Now one side of my face visible larger than the over and with minimal cheek and chin changes. I had such high hopes and felt very comfortable with the NP but I'm down 4k and with very minimal results. My face look wider but my cheeks are flat and chin still receding. I recently had a European Facial done by the aesthetician Katie. She was very knowledgable, and sweet. I felt that I was able to talk through my appointment comfortably. The extractions were not painful. You can tell that she really takes pride in what she does. The spa itself is nicely decorated, and clean. For the first time, I wasn't offered a robe wrap like all of the other facials I have had during my lifetime. The blankets were soft, and comfortable so I did not mind this. The music was relaxing---some spas do not add music, and this is disappointing. I am a person that loves to talk, and it's professional to have the aesthetician talk you through the experience. Nonetheless, I probably would have liked to do less talking, and more relaxing. Why is this spa receiving three starts instead of five? The price. I do not mind paying for good quality services. Nonetheless, $65-70 (including groupon, gratuity, and tip) is fair for the service. I feel that $95 for the European facial when they use Dermalogica products is a bit high. Also, it's the day after and the past two facials I had elsewhere, I had a day after glow. It seems that this isn't happening today. I am also noticing some places that could have been done a little more. The massage with the facial should have some more pressure around the neck, shoulders, arms and hands. Again, Katie is very sweet, and doesn't go to attack your face. Nonetheless, if I had paid $100+ total, I would have been very upset. We have so many spas in NYC, and the business is very competitive. I have been eager to find a salon in the area to go have my monthly-two month facial. I understand that rent may be high because of the location. Based on my experience, I feel the service alone shouldn't be more than $70-75 before tax and gratuity. Last but not least, it's called NATURAL BEAUTY. Dermalogica is NOT natural. I went to this med spa for preventative Botox. This was only my second time getting it done, but this treatment was waaay more painful than the last time I had it done. The esthetician said I was most likely crying because of hormones or my period- which I wasn't on. I followed the post treatment advice regarding my my skin. Several days later Spock brow took form!! I called the Khrom office they said I had to wait 10 days. I could only make an appointment for a follow up 2 weeks after the treatment. I completed the feedback prompt from Khrom reporting my bad experience, and no one has reached out to me. It will be 10 days tomorrow, and I doubt this Spock brow will magically disappear by then. This is kind of a long story, but I ask that you follow along because I was put into serious danger at Art of Natural Beauty. I purchased six sessions of laser hair removal to laser my upper lip. It was my first time doing laser hair removal, but they had a decent deal on the sessions and it's nearby my house so I decided to give it a try. My first couple of sessions were fine, nothing notable whether good or bad. By the third session, they called to reschedule because their laser technician called in sick. They rescheduled for the next day, but unfortunately at short notice, I wasn't able to make the appointment either because of my own schedule. I lost that session entirely as I was a no-show. This was just a minor note in the next series of issues... Partially my fault, partially theirs. Anyway, for my fourth (third overall) session, I went in at my scheduled time, and laid down on the table. The tech turned the machine on... and you could hear a weird noise coming from the machine, and then something started to smell like it was burning. She noticed and turned it off, not thinking much of it, but certainly she was confused. She waited a couple minutes, prepped my face, and turned the machine back on. Within 5 seconds, the laser EXPLODED in the machine. The machine made the loudest BANG, a bright light flashed, and the machine was covered in black soot and there was smoke in the room. The technician covered her face and took cover in the corner of the room, shocked at what had just happened. But--the machine was literally still smoking and sounded like it was amping up to explode again, so she crawled behind the machine and unplugged it from the wall. I kid you not, had that laser been in her hand it would have blown her hand off. Worse yet, had it been on my face, it would have KILLED ME. We both walked quickly out of the room, both in shock and terrified by what had just happened. The technician was very apologetic--and they said they'd have to reschedule (obviously, their machine had just exploded). They cancelled all appointments for the day and likely for the rest of the week (with some people already waiting in the lobby), and ultimately had to get the machine replaced. The technician said they'd be happy to make me an offer for lost time and also the fact that I was nearly killed, and the manager would reach out and let me know next steps. Ultimately, the manager never reached out, so I called them to see what was going on. The manager said "no, the technician isn't qualified to make offers to clients." I further explained to her I was in a room while their machine exploded--and she said she'd call back shortly to let me know what they could do. Twenty minutes later she calls back to let me know, that if I PURCHASE Botox at full price, they'll offer me a free 15 minute facial. Obviously, this simply added more insult to injury as I could've had my face blown off in their office and the manager had nothing to say but come back for more on your own dime! Honestly--I'm shocked at this response. I'm shocked that the technician feels comfortable going to work after this. I can no longer do laser hair removal because I'm terrified of what might happen. I understand that a faulty machine is not necessarily their fault--but it is absolutely their responsibility to take care of their clients and make them feel comfortable--I was not even offered so much as an apology, but I guess I have a free 15 minute facial if I decide to give this business more of my money. I should also mention, the laser hair removal didn't work. What a joke of an establishment. read more

I'm sharing this review as a warning to patients. I came here to see the dermatologist regarding issues I was having with hair loss. She requested lab work so I immediately went to the lab. Several days went by and I hadn't heard back. I was calling them asking if they had received my results, was put on hold forever, no one seemed to be able to even know my patient history. They asked me if I was sure I was calling the right place?! I finally called the lab myself and had them send me the blood work directly. I took my results to another dermatologist and an ObGyn to review. Several weeks later I finally get a call back from this place saying I'm iron deficient. I had the actual blood work already, and my results showed my iron was HIGH. Higher than normal. Had this been a more serious issue, it's completely unacceptable to wait that long to deliver information to a patient, especially when it was available within days of the bloodwork being taken. Secondly, and more importantly, the dermatologist completely misdiagnosed me! I had already been to other doctors who were telling me to keep an eye on overdoing it with iron! She prescribed drugs that could've been harmful. If someone had blindly trusted this dermatologist, she could've done major damage and lost her license. Always do your own research and ALWAYS request that they send you a copy of your results. Anyway, my review is that this place is disorganized and has potentially dangerous practices. Went there on Sunday for a birthday massage. The staff were friendly and pleasant and that's really the best I can say about my experience. There were wet, dirty towels by the door to collect all the snow from the storm the day before, which just made for a wet floor everywhere that people could have slipped on since no one seemed to be cleaning up after where people walked. The room was cold and although I think there was a space heater in there, it didn't really do anything, or maybe at the end. The therapist was friendly, but I'm not convinced that the people working there are licensed massage therapists, even though that's what the Center claims. I had to ask the massage therapist three times to adjust the face rest because I kept moving around the table. Twice my face was pressed into the metal bar at the end of the table. She didn't even notice I was in the wrong position until my shoulders were close to the edge of the table. I had to fill out a sheet before going in and wrote that I had a hip injury. I mentioned it to the therapist, who hadn't read it. Even with me telling her, she didn't adjust to accommodate the injured area. She also did some moves that I think a therapist shouldn't do without a full intake because some people could get injured. I bought it through Groupon and while $39 is certainly affordable for a massage, it's not worth it when I have to worry when I'm trying to de-stress. read more
