The best Margaritas I've ever had. Unbelievable atmosphere. Next to a Winery. Great place. Great, friendly staff. Outdoor section has farm animals to pet, a giant playground for kids, and a bunch of picnic tables. I didn't try the food however it smelled fantastic. Tacos and Burritos galore. Great big menu. I have to be honest here ladies and gentlemen. Yes, the ambiance is good with the setting. Covered porches, picnic tables and a true cantina feel earns 2 stars here. Service was handing me the food, not earning anything there. The margaritas are good but for $18 for a jumbo, they better be decent. Nothing AMAZING. The food was bagged chips and a small cup of queso I had to pay for, where most good Mexican restaurants provide chips/salsa and just charge for queso. KI Cantina was fine... I mean, it's on an island in the middle of Lake Erie, so expectations were appropriately low. The tacos were what you'd get if your very Caucasian grandma decided to make tacos for lunch--zero percent authentic, but she tried her best. The real star here is the margaritas. Go big... literally. The giant ones are great, with plenty of flavor options to keep it interesting. It's a solid place to drink, chill, and pretend the food doesn't matter. This would be a 5 star review but I am giving it a zero besides the food and that earns a 2 stars because the food was actually very very good. But what ultimately makes me most unhappy with this is this, I walked in with my wife and my three year old and 11month old boys and my 80 year old grandma. And we ordered our food and I was in the ordering area and overheard very loudly a staff member yelling curse words such as "f*** this" "why can't people mind their own g** d*** business" "s***". This instantly made me feel very uncomfortable especially with having my babies with young innocent ears who are sensitive to people yelling. My wife took the kids outside and I confronted her and she did not care one bit, another worker told her to stop and finally she told me sorry but it was not a true apology. The level of unprofessionalism ruined this experience for me and my family and I am EXTREMELY disappointed in this if I already had not paid we would have walked straight out the door. I am making sure this review is on this platform and I hope that the manager sees this so this worker can be talked to. When I just about anyone go somewhere to spend money professionalism goes a long way but this put a very bad taste in my mouth for this place and I will not be bringing my family back even if the food was good. read more

This was our favorite meal on the island. We stumbled upon it while golf carting around and I fell instantly in love with the idyllic, pastoral location and colorful skull signage. The menu and service are both abbreviated due to Coronavirus but we didn't mind the casual, self service vibe. Food was tasty and good quality. Location is ideal for kids with a vast green lawn to run and play, plus cute goats in the back to talk to and feed grass to! Such a great addition to the Kelley's Island food scene. read more

Not a good restaurant if you like to sit down and order a meal, or eat your meal hot!! First you wait in line to order your drinks. Then go to another section to order the food, they have a few taco selections, a big fat burrito, and a few appetizers and that's it! What the menu doesn't tell you is all the food is cooked in the morning and served cold in the afternoon.... when I return my fresh out of the refrigerator burrito and ask for it to be heated I was informed they don't have a way to heat up the food and no returns on their nasty cold food!! The place does look run down but the outside atmosphere is lively and festive but if your like me and expect your food to be warm this is not the place for you!!! read more

Worst food you can imagine. You say no jalapeños and they blatantly ignore you and add jalapeños to every. Single. Thing. You order. Save ur money and go to Taco Bell once your back on USA main land soil. This place was shit. I couldn't say worse things about it. eat the pizza at caddy shack instead and save your money. Hands down the best margaritas on the island!! The Cantina is set up for outdoor enjoyment. There are picnic tables and patio area options. If you are looking for a casual, relaxed atmosphere... this is your place to spend the afternoon. It's not located in the downtown area, so you will most likely need to drive there. I suggest renting a golf cart, but do so early in the day. If you wait too long, you will find that all carts are being used and you will miss out on this place and their margis. Delicious food, cool location (not on the water though). Their margaritas were very creative - ordered the Spicy Mango and it was tasty, not too sweet. The food is a walk-up window where you fill out a checklist - we got our food quickly. I ordered a barbacoa salad with almost all the toppings - it was very good. Tender shredded meat. My husband got the chicken and it was also shredded, maybe even better than the barbacoa. There is a table full of hot sauces to top your food with, ranging from mild to Dave's Insanity - it was greatly appreciated! We only had margaritas here, and they were amazing! We had the cayenne pepper margaritas, and enjoyed them immensely. My only suggestion is the barmaid needs to learn how to make more than one of the same drink at a time. The place literally only had 6 people in it, and we waited quite a while for our drinks. Which were made separately, even though we ordered the same drink. Sigh. The quality was great, and the flavor was incredible. Very friendly young lady behind the bar. Okay had to give 3 stars here even though I reaaaaally wanted to give 4. The little "shack" itself is so cute and colorful and the marg selection was amazing. I had the watermelon my husband had the jalapeño and we were both intrigued by the mango cayenne but planned to head to the winery after so that would've been too much. Again, both margs were refreshing and tasty and worth the price. However, we shared a steak burrito and there were probably 6 shreds of steak, no exaggeration. So much lettuce and cheese filler that the cheese didn't even get melty so the burrito itself was cool, not hot. I also attribute this to the fact that again, there was hardly any meat hot off the grill. We also got chips and guacamole and the chips were clearly from a bag, fine. Like I mentioned, it's a small place so I understand not frying them up fresh. But the guac was flavorless. It was like they mashed an avocado in a bowl and served it up. I'm not a hot and spicy person, but I know guac needs some chili powder or cayenne or fresh jalapeños or other hot peppers for some flavor. I'd return for drinks and drinks only. read more

I am on Kelly's every summer and have never eaten here. I really enjoy the cocktails but decided to try the food this year. It was awful, I was served a burrito where the chicken was crunching so hard in my teeth that it was almost painful. When I took it to the kitchen and waited for acknowledgement I began counting the flies I saw around the bar. After I reached 100 I looked at the food bins and noticed there was probably 200 more. It was disgusting, I was refunded my money and left. The "chef" examined my chicken and stated it was not acceptable, I asked how he could serve it and was offered no explanation. I have been to all of the watering holes and restaurants on the island... This one is the best for the price/quality ratio. Not the cheapest, but worth the price. Very good quality food. Fast and VERY friendly service without the drama of the docks. Very young group, which was refreshing on how good their attitudes were! Highly recommend this place! read more
