Had a 7am tee time. We were a groups of 3. The price for cart, club rentals and tee time were reasonable. Considering where we are. Watch out bc there will be chickens on the course lol! We had a really nice experience. The gentlemen helped us with our cart and gave us some helpful advice on the course before we set out. There's a gps in the top left corner we kept hearing buzzing and it happened everytime there was an ad.. so that was annoying. There are condos and house located right on the green! So a carefully! Nice course , front 9 pretty flat and greens were large, but needed some help. Looked like a disease hit areas of the green making it tough to get a good read. The staff was great to work with. No coffee shop, but a Mexican restaurant. Took my wife and it was fine her game. read more

Course and greens is in great condition. The restaurant is open 7 days a week now so you can order food and drinks on the course. Still the only negative is that there isn't a bar cart on the course so make sure if you want a beverage you have to grab it at restaurant window before you head out on 1 or before hole 10. read more

I have played this course several times on my annual trips to Koloa. The course is beautiful and well maintained. The staff is welcoming and helpful, they definitely embrace the Aloha spirit. My brother and I got the twilight rate which is a great deal. The rental clubs are brand new Callaway Elytes. This golf course is a gem. read more

We played 18 holes here one day for free due to the fact that we had been given coupons for doing a time share presentation-- it was a decent course but honestly we were disappointed at the lack of ocean views during the course. it's not right on the water- you can see the ocean some from a distance but it's not often. we wouldn't pay the price tag to play here- it was free so it was worth it for us. we did enjoy having lunch there after the first 9 holes at the taco place. the taco place has good prices and a fun environment. the food was pretty good- we are from texas so we have high standards. they do give you free chips and salsa which was nice, just like home. the service was pretty good- had to get attention some times but overall good service. the staff at the golf course were super helpful and friendly. we overall enjoyed ourselves, just wish there were more views. read more

Golf course review: Worth $120 with cart included? Debatable. I'm an 11 handicap who plays 3X / week. Been swinging golf clubs since 1989. My habit is to play public courses that cost no more than $50. So paying 2.4 times more raised my expectations that the course would be super impressive. But, it is not. Kind of a boring layout. Lots of wide open fairways. Few trees. Some lateral water. Mildly undulating topography. Sand bunkers are clean. Sand was wet during my visit. I landed in a few and the ball required a mighty whack to get out. Putting greens are smooth but slllloooowwww. No more than a 6 on the Stimp scale. Gasoline engine golf cart. In kind of beat up condition. Range balls are the rattiest I've ever seen. The employees are nice. Cancelled my second tee time. Played Wailua for $48 and enjoyed it much more. read more

I love this place. Always about Aloha. Oftentimes the fastest greens on the Island. Shorter hitters can score easily when the wind is down. Shotmaker's course especially if you can work your driver or know the course well. No bar cart so load up before one and 10. Staff is awesome. read more

I have played Kiahuna several times since 1981. Of all the courses on the island this one has gotten worse over the years. The range and practice green are in awful shape. Range balls are in terrible condition. The green fee with range balls and cart (2024) was over $150, and definitely not worth it. The course was for sale for many years, and it is obvious that the owners have no intention to make improvements. read more

We had a great day golfing. We are not the best golfers, but thoroughly enjoyed the course. The welcoming starter, Steve, was very friendly and had our nice rented clubs on our cart as soon as he saw us. Since we were a foursome we did let 2 twosome play through which made it a little longer, but a great day. For our level of play it was a great course read more

First the bad part: Had a late morning tee time and my wife and I played the front 9 holes in a very reasonable time. No one in front of us until we came to #10. We noticed a 6th some on the #10 green and we had to wait for them to clear. Assumed it was two groups that would slit up but never happened. After 3 more really slow holes I called the pro shop and asked if they allowed 6 players and they were hesitant but said that they would send out someone to look into it. Never happened. We waited and waited on every hole. They drove their carts right up to the fringe of the greens and never made any attempt to pick up play or even consider letting us play through. Now all the other groups behind us are all waiting too. Now the good part: accidentally got a cut on my arm that was bleeding. When the beverage cart came by asked if she had a band aide. She said no. A short time later she came back with an antiseptic wipe and a band aide. What great customer service. read more

I can only review parts of this place but I really liked it. We had met Matt who used to be a golf pro there prior to COVID and now still teaches around there on the weekends earlier in the trip and set up a lesson. Having not planned on golf for the trip as we are really just beginners we brought nothing. For us this place was great. We rented clubs and each got a bucket of balls for the driving range. Price was great for those two things combined. The gentleman in the pro shop along with another employee who I believe was dealign with carts and overseeing the driving range and balls were both super friendly and kind. The grounds looked super clean and only saw people coming in and out that seemed to be stoked to be there. We stuck to the putting green and driving range for our lesson. We belong to a nice club back home and half to say the putting green here seemed larger with more holes available. The down range portion of the driving range is slightly neglected but lets be honest do we care? The hitting portion of it is well managed for a live grass one. I see now how the upkeep of that must be and why so many places install mats for the driving range. All in all and nice place and we look forward to playing it next trip. The price of 105 with cart/gps included is a good price for the island and will be on the agenda next trip. read more

For the out-of-state price ($120 weekday early morning) I was extremely satisfied with the golf. I would argue it's the nicest course on the island compared to what you would be paying at higher-end places. There is a restaurant at the golf course with some of the best Mexican food I've ever had - Paco's Tacos has a great menu and an even better burrito enchilada style that you can modify to your liking. I pretty much agree with all the reviews of this golf course. It's a muni, in pretty good shape for the amount of play. I was a single but didn't get paired with anyone despite it being a busy Friday. So that kind of sucked, but at least I was in control of my round and groups were pretty accommodating to let me through. Course knowledge a MUST here - a few blind shots, tricky greens (need to know where to aim and where to avoid), but overall greens were pretty good. The customer service wasn't great but what do you expect at a muni with a lot of play? Probably will skip this on my next trip - for the extra money going to a resort course is a better experience. read more

A member of the staff said "F*** You" to us and lectured us on "proper golf etiquette" after a member of our group was not wearing a collared shirt. We had already checked in and payed the steep price of $500 for 9 holes of golf for a group of four players and a ride along (five people are not allowed to play golf). During check in, no staff members addressed the fact that one of our group was wearing a non-collared shirt. We are on vacation and didn't all have collared golf shirts. We are a group of seasoned golfers who have never been treated with such disregard for such a minor mistake. Although collared shirts are recommended at private golf courses, it is NOT a rule across ALL golf courses in the world that you must wear a collared shirt - especially not public golf courses. When the staff member mentioned the mistake in an extremely condescending manner, this led to a heated argument. While I do not deny that a person in our group used unsavory words following the staff member's condescension, the fact that a customer service representative served it right back is disgraceful. I have worked in customer service for years and the answer is never to raise your voice to a customer. If the staff member been more tactful - that would be one thing. It's completely different to raise your voice against a paying customer, cuss them out, and charge them more money to buy a shirt from their store. We took our business elsewhere. We do not recommend this golf establishment. If you want more background into the corporate culture of this place, check out the Google Reviews for this location. You will see the owner of the club has no interest in customer feedback. I attached some brief examples I stumbled upon. UPDATE: A member of their team has sent me a message, which I thought would be to rectify the situation. Instead she messaged me in a private note with a subject line titled "Liar." She accused me of lying in an attempt to tarnish their name. I debated including the messages in this post, but I'd rather drop the issue. The bottom line is that they do not listen to their customers, they resort to name calling, and they have no interest in bettering their company or their staff. The people that are running this place just pulled a bait and switch on me regarding the green fee price. I played here a number of times over the last 5 years and was always provided a military veterans rate. I called 2 weeks to confirm the green fees and verified that the veteran rate would applied. I just called yesterday to book several tee times and was told that the rate now only applies to retired and active duty military. I told them that I was told otherwise to 2 weeks ago. They could care less. So I called to speak to the owner (since that is who I believe I talked to 2 weeks ago) and without even a conversation he said that if I don't know him I shouldn't be calling him. I was only calling him to discuss purchasing a package of tee times for my stay, just not 10 as they advertise. It never got past him screaming at me. You would think they would want people playing since ALL THE TEE TIMES ARE OPEN. If you don't get people on the course if will go down toilet just like several of the other course on Kauai. What a horrible experience. read more

Pro shop staff was nice. The cart guy was a little rough around the edges and can be perceived as rude but he probably is just that way. Told me to count my clubs to make sure there were 13 I told him I did and he said count them again. It didn't come with a 58 or 60 lob wedge. Ultimately the rental set is the callaway apex chunky game improvement irons and the driver is the callaway epic flash 10.5 driver that's regular shaft 55 grams. If you have a fast swing speed, these rentals will be tough for you to get used to especially if you're used to playing players irons. The course was worth the price and would play again. 5 stars for the course. And 2 for the cart guy and 4 for the pro shop staff. read more

When you rent the clubs, you get half a dozen Calloway balls. It was a challenging course on this windy day. It was an okay day of golfing, figuring out how to hit the ball when the wind was coming from all different directions. If there were a way to give ZERO stars, I would. Drake, at the pro shop is incredibly RUDE, CONDESCENDING, and overall, a terrible human to deal with. We are here on vacation, and our family loves to golf there. Unfortunately, due to a series of unfortunate events, one person cannot Drive, and they won't allow for our minor son to drive. So a child, a disabled man, and an able body man... his response "have one walk behind..." Whom shall that be? Disabled man, or child? In all the years past, they have accommodated, but unfortunately, one bad hire, and here we are. If he weren't so rude, and so awful, it would be no problem, of course- Honestly though, if they are able bodied to play, that should be celebrated, not punished, and sometimes, accommodations need to be made. read more

Wow , what a treat. We played Poipu twice, then played here, no comparison. This course is a gem. Well maintained, friendly staff, gas carts, great layout and wide open fairways. It was so peaceful and quiet , we took our time and still finished in under 4 hours . For locals the price is right . Will return, lots of aloha here!! read more

Played here today, went off early and played as a single and did a sub-3:00 round. Love that! I read the older reviews about bad customer service/humandom from at least one pro shop employee, but I was met with aloha from the 2 older gents in the pro shop/starter area and the lawn dudes out on the course. A+ for that. Course was in pretty good shape, and being able to get a round in so fast is awesome. There are some distant ocean views, but it is more of a nice resort course surrounded in many places by homes, which are set back enough that you don't feel you're playing in someone's backyard. Front nine is wide open and easier than the back nine. At $99, I would say Kiahuna is priced fairly for Kauai. You get a cooled, damp, minty towel at the end, which was nice. This is probably the sweet spot of golf courses on Kauai for price/quality/location -- definitely if you are staying in Poipu. read more

We've been staying near Kiahuna and have now played 6+ rounds at the course. We've always played as a family foursome with our two boys, aged 11 & 13. First, I'll comment on the course. With the exception of a couple of greens, the course is in excellent condition. The variety of tee boxes provides great challenge for beginners (my kids are improving fast and loving the red tees at 4,900 yards) and more seasoned players (the gold tees at 6,900 in the wind are a test for me as a low handicapper). Speed of play is awesome - the four of us have always gotten around in under 3 hours. Second, the staff. Most important to me is that the staff have always been kind and welcoming of my family, especially my kids. My 13 year-old is there almost daily at the range and putting green, and always greeted cheerfully. And as others have noted, Cheyenne in particular is delightful. If they had personnel issues in the past, those appear to have been resolved. I'll admit that based on previous reviews, we were a little nervous about making Kiahuna our home course for our time in Kauai -- so glad we did! Really good course, solid value, great team. This course has got some bad rep, but I stayed close to it and decided to give it a shot after having already played some of the big name courses. It is a great course and the staff was super friendly. I played from the tips and found it quite challenging. Lots of unique features. If you are lucky you will get paired with some amazing locals like I did. Paco's Tacos is also great, which is on the property. read more

Fun course, definitely challenging for me. Nice staff all around. Lunch was tasty, but incredibly slow. I would get a hot dog or sandwich to-go next time instead of eating at the restaurant. The cart is included in the green fees and that's great since I would not want to walk this course. It's not particularly hilly but it is spread out and would have taken forever to walk. I'll definitely play again next time I come to Kauai. read more

Kiahuna Golf Club is located near Poipu on Kauai, in Hawaii. Kiahuna is an incredible gem of a course: fun layout, nice staff, reasonable rates, and an absence of crowds on the course. It seems that everyone who goes to play golf near Poipu goes to Poipu Bay - with its higher greens fees and booked-solid tee times, because Poipu Bay hosts the PGA Grand Slam of Golf. But ask any local where they play, and they'll tell you Kiahuna. Kiahuna cost 45% less than Poipu, and offers really solid island golf. The course was designed by Robert Trent Jones II, and was a fun day of golf. The risk/reward for every hole offered lots of different strategies from the tee. The fairways were as tight as some of the greens back home in San Francisco, and the greens were stellar. The staff was friendly, and the on-site restaurant was a great place to eat whether playing a round or not. My wife, son and I walked to Kiahuna from the Kiahuna Plantation condos, enjoyed breakfast together, and then they went back to the condo while I went out to play alone. And I mean ALONE. Mid-June, mid-morning and there were only two other groups on the course ahead of me. I had the place to myself, and enjoyed a fun, relaxing round of golf with no pressure from the group behind me and no group ahead of me to slow me down. I played 18 in under 4 hours. On a resort course during the high season! I rented clubs, and they were some of the best I've played: Ping G5 set, all with graphite shafts. The cart had GPS and a monitor, and wasn't cart path only. There are only two downsides to Kiahuna: the houses have been built so close to the course on some of the holes; and the course wasn't built right on the water. But the greens fees were extremely reasonable - I got the round, cart & rentals for $50 less than the greens fees alone at Poipu Bay, the staff was friendly (!) and the course is beautiful, offering great views of the ocean and mountains. read more
