The Poipu Beach Athletic Club is awesome. Background: We were staying in Kauai with our our group of 8 which consisted of 5 adults and 3 kids. We had a rental house in Poipu about 5 minutes from this facility. One of the perks of our rental was we had access to this facility for the duration of the stay. Our kids are twin 11 year olds and a 7 year old. I was a bit worried about not having the hotel facilities (pool) while staying in a rental house. That's why us having access to this place was so huge for our trip. We weren't here everyday, but having it as option was huge. Facilities: They have a pool with a waterslide, sandy beach area, gym facilities, athletic courts, and their own restaurant/bar. They also have poolside service for drinks and food. We ate at their restaurant the night we flew in as we were tired from the travel day. We let the kids swim then had dinner. Very convenient and the food was decent. Service: We had great service at the pool and restaurant/bar. Food/Drinks: Large selection of the usual tropical drinks. Decent selection of food. Food is good but not great. For the atmosphere though it will definitely get the job done. Prices are very reasonable for drinks. Think 11 or 12 where if you were at a resort probably closer to 20. Food Prices decent also. They had a great special on Mimosas on Saturday and Sunday during the day. Final Thoughts: This place definitely enhanced our trip immensely. We still hit the beach daily and did some activities around the island, but having this as an option was great. I would rent the same house again just because it came with access to this spot. read more

Then we spent time at the pool pool was super nice a little bit chilly great loungers they have a little sandy beach area and then we had lunch at the restaurant on site fantastic way to spend an afternoon. Enjoyed seared tuna tacos which was recommended to me by my server. I got two large tacos, which certainly filled me up, and the server was excellent checking in to make sure everything was OK and that I was happy. I love the very casual outdoor seating area with the roosters being shooed away. While dining, I watched people playing pickle ball and dad's and their son practicing soccer which made for a great afternoon. read more

We took advantage of the athletic club located just across the street from Kiahua Resort, where we stayed for a few days. Its prime location, a short distance from the beach, made it incredibly convenient. Kids loved the slide and a jacuzzi. The pool area was a favorite as well, with top-notch service and well-crafted drinks, though on the petite side. The food menu catered to diverse tastes, but it was the seared ahi tacos that truly stood out. Kids enjoyed chicken quesadillas and chicken strips. On certain days of the week there is also live music at the restaurant on the property. The place is well kept and seemed clean and tidy. read more

I really enjoyed my stay at the Poipu Beach, Athletic Club there was available and free parking, a check in area for your entry to the club, merchandise to purchase, if you would like, towels for the pool or if you're going to get a good workout in . Theres a nice kid friendly and adult friendly pool with a mini sliding tube, beautiful and tidy bathrooms, tennis courts, a space to play volleyball, and a four sectioned gym/fitness center. The first warehouse featured all equipment and machines with one bench press and one squat rack. The second section was a studio with mirrors, yoga weights, and mats. The third section was more for all of the treadmill's/walking/running/cycling machines. The last section was More like CrossFit and weights and miscellaneous workouts with generic grass. I worked on pretty much all upper body from push to pull days and all of the equipment and machines that were there were more than what I needed. I even took a dip in the pool and tried out the sliding two, and the cabana bar and grill was really cool as I was there During happy hour so I got two dollars off my signature cocktail drink. There's also live music as well after 5 PM. I'm looking forward to coming back here! read more

Love it here! I actually looked forward to working out on vacation. It's I door/outdoor with big roll up doors. 3 big rooms to work out in, 2 full of new equipment ranging from cardio to circuit, dumbbells and more. Plus an outdoor TRX area, volleyball, tennis, pickleball, basketball, cornhole. They offer classes although I didn't take any. Nice updated restrooms and changing facilities. I really enjoyed myself coming to this club, there's a pool, hot tub, a 3 section gym (with more construction to add to it), basketball, soccer, pickle ball, shuffle board, tennis, pretty much anything you can name they have it. The pool has a water slide, a bar with food and drinks or pool side service to order. We spent a lot of time here because the kids really enjoyed it. You also get gym and pool towels upon arrival, I was even able to walk there from the air bnb, and right down the road there is Little Fish Cafe with breakfast and coffee. My physical therapist had recommended that I look into membership here so that I could use the pool, so I went to check it out. I think for a certain clientele this is probably a great athletic club, but I'm not that clientele. The first thing we noticed was that the check-in desk requires you to walk up stairs. There is literally no way to check in if you have mobility issues except to shout to get the clerk's attention, and the two staff members who were there just looked at me for a while until one of them eventually came down the stairs to give me a piece of paper with the membership information when I continued to call out my questions. The pool and the area around it are beautiful, and the monthly membership fee isn't ridiculous, but my husband and I didn't like the fact that they require a one-year contract and a $300 "initiation fee." Not everyone can afford that kind of financial commitment at the get-go, so we didn't like the elitist feel of it. It probably prevents a lot of residents from being able to afford it. Not to make any global generalizations about the membership as a whole, but on the afternoon when we visited every single person we saw there was white. In a racially diverse community like Kauai, it was pretty noticeable. That made us uncomfortable, too. I also really didn't like that they gave no option to try the place out before making that $2,000 commitment. I wasn't sure if the pool would be a good fit for the type of stuff I wanted to do, or if I would even be able to get in/out of the pool safely with my mobility issues (and the inaccessibility of the check-in desk didn't bode well on that score), but there was no way to know for sure just by looking, and no option to try it out. I ended up joining the YMCA in Lihue instead, which has much more of a friendly vibe and local community feel. read more

On the first day we got pickle ball paddles, it was so easy because we are staying at the cottages and all I had to do was say on last name and we rent it out for however long we wanted. We used Poipu Beach Athletic Club when we stayed at our vacation rental across the street. t seems like most of the clientele here are tourists staying at a nearby vacation rental. We found this club to be clean, family-friendly, and full of amenities. They have a pool with a waterslide, exercise gym, weight room tennis courts, basketball courts, pickleball courts, locker rooms, and showers. There is even a restaurant and coffee shop on-site. Tip: Do not leave food unattended. The staff is friendly...but the roosters here are not. read more

I loved this place. We spent the whole day here before we headed to the airport to go back home. They have a perfect pool for kids/babies and plenty of shade or sun whatever you prefer. Nice place to work out and relax. We went to the club because we were required to pay for it with our condo rental. We weren't sure what to expect but were pleasantly surprised. I went to the open studio and did some mat work while the hubs was in the weight studio. The equipment is clean and there were plenty of items to choose from. The staff was very nice and friendly. The pool area looked really nice but we did not end up using it. The women's locker room is nice and clean. I am not sure why the fee was mandatory with our rental and since we only used it once in 10 days it costs us $ 75 per person for our workout. However we would not have tried it otherwise. I'm glad we went because it was a good experience. read more

this has nothing do do with swimming instructor she was great. However I paid 100 something for two half hour swimming lessons for the kids. Also spent 20 for three coffees from their restaurant. we thought we might be able to stay around the pool to reinforce the lessons and enjoy the slide for about an hour but we're promptly asked to leave after lessons because we weren't members. Not a good way to treat kamaainas. will not be continuing there for lessons again. read more

Really enjoyed playing pickle ball with my family at the Poipu Beach Athletic Club. The staff were super friendly and helpful while being very laid-back at the same time. Great morning yoga with Stefanie! Would recommend for all levels. The indoor/outdoor facilities appear to be built for pandemic times. Open air flow keeps air very fresh. As a certified instructor myself, I'd highly recommend taking a class with Stefanie! Her class was very balanced, plenty of advanced level cues, wonderful sequence & perfectly soft background music. Pretty cool place to spend the day. And if you stay at the Kiahuna Plantation you have free access to the facility. They have the following: Pool Free towels Clean bathrooms A slide in the pool Bar Tennis courts Basketball courts A yoga studio Waiters/waitresses by the pool Covered lounges near the pool A child friendly 1 1/2 ft deep "beach" pool with real sand ...... And probably more but that's what we used We were a little disappointed that the pool was as small as it was, and that at its deepest it was 4ft. It is a great place to escape the beach for a day, and both days we went we had no problem getting a lounger of our choice. The mai tais here are fantastic!! Great spot for several reasons. For us, very close to our VRBO on Kiahuna Plantation. Could not have been more ideal for a little time with our grandchildren to play on their "sandy" beach and then stroll into their little wading pool... all while our Pina Coladas were being delivered. The food from the Cabana Bar & Grill was excellent (Mahi Mahi Burger and Sweet Potato Fries please!) Nice hot tub, fun slide for the slightly older kids and if you wanted a work out, the facilities looked impressive. Great staff at the Athletic Club, which thankfully was part of our VRBO rental, and great staff, as well, at the Cabana Bar and Grill which was open to anyone, not just PBAC members. My fiancé and I were excited to find this place while we stayed in Poipu! We like to continue our workout routine even while on vacation and this athletic club was the perfect spot to do it. It had a nice selection of machines and weight room. The grounds were always immaculate and bathrooms were clean. The girls at the front were super friendly and remembered us after only visiting a couple times. There were also yoga classes, water aerobics, and a neat looking bar adjacent to pool area. I am truly disappointed with this company. We have been extremely loyal users, spending a ton of money as members and using all of their services. My husband was deployed in the military in the middle of COVID, because of this I am unable to bring our two small children to the club. I asked Tanya if she could pause our membership until he comes home from deployment. She so callously told me it's business not personal, we do not pause memberships. My husband is serving his country so I would think if an exception could be made it would be in this situation. I paid $299 for a membership fee and find it appalling that I would be expected to pay that again when my husband comes home from deployment. Besides that Tanya has always been rude, doesn't respond to e-mails, no customer service whatsoever!! We supported them during COVID by not canceling our membership and still trying to support the club in any way we could, using the child care services, promoting their business on social media, and to friends and family. We also went to the Cabana bar and grill often. I am truly disgraced by their actions!! Tiffany should run that entire club herself, she is amazing! Tanya should be fired, I have heard so so many stories about her drunken behavior at the club, and complete lack of customer service! Truly a shame, they could've had a whole family for life, now they will have us telling people this story over and over again! This place is a new and awesome option for me. I stay about 2 blocks away and I have to say, the classes are great. Day one, Aquafit. This was a good work out, and I loved it was me and 5 regulars who live on the island. I laughed, worked hard and really enjoyed the people in the class. This is a rare gem. Go get your work out on. This place is small but has just enough equipment to get in a decent workout. No, you can't do any Olympic style lifting here, but it's more of a place to maintain your gainz. The cardio room is adjacent to the weight room, but both are what I would describe as being in an open air environment. There is a swimming pool that is catered more towards children at the entrance to the Athletic club, and there is an outdoor bar/restaurant between the pool and weight room areas. There are also basketball courts, tennis courts, and an open field which can be used for any sort of sport activity such as a football scrimmage or maybe a few volleyball nets can be set up there in that area. read more

We have a place on Kauai and visit often. During this trip the gym at our condo was undergoing repairs so I decided to check out this club. Although they don't allow short-term memberships, all of their fitness classes are available to the public. I downloaded the club's app which made it super simple to sign up for classes. I took four yoga classes, one with Whitney which was awesome and a bit more of a cardio challenge and then, I was fortunate to make it to three classes taught by Linda Espino. Linda's classes were some of the best I've ever taken. Although the pace is not fast, Linda's classes require strength and focus. She provides the perfect balance of meditation, stretching and strengthening. I'm looking forward to taking her classes whenever I'm on island. Aloha and Mahalo! read more
