Very good product. But the customer service is lacking to be kind. I have been in more than once when they had more than one client, and more than one person behind the counter. I was not acknowledged. Today, one clerk went in the back to wrap a cake. Clerk #2 came out from the back, stood and stared at me with no greeting or acknowledgement, then turned and went into the back. I left. Kia never disappoints. She did my birthday cake a couple years ago. The cake looked so amazing (I didn't want to cut it ). It was so good that of course I decided to go with using her creative skills for my private / intimate wedding. Rachel and I came up with an idea of fusing 2 different cakes since I couldn't decide on which one I wanted. The outcome was better then I could have even expected. This place deserved a 0 star!!!! We have been a strong supporter for this establishment before, the owner herself was able to obtained Kia's shop. Regretfully, the customer service is so terrible!!! I will no longer continue to support this establishment. The sad part is that, I want to support my community and especially black own businesses! Kia's has a lot to learn, it is so important to treat your loyal customers and your future customers right, especially if she want to see this establishment flourished and continue to grow. She can start of by hiring more friendlier staff and please do respond back when a customer is calling you! It is so unfortunately, that we live in Lansdowne and will no longer care for Kia's cake. I've used Kia's cakes for several occasions. She can make elegant or whimsical fondant sculptures, lovely wedding cakes, fun cakes, etc. The important thing is, her cakes taste really good. The buttercream icing has actual butter in it - you can taste it. It's not like a typical bakery cake, it tastes like a real homemade cake. I also enjoy the cafe, the coffee is great, the environment is lovely, and they stay open so you can go before or after work from the train station. What Kia and her colleague Zoe made was a SHOWSTOPPING MASTERPIECE better looking than any of the "inspiration" cakes I'd found. If you live anywhere near Lansdowne, you cannot beat the quality of her Real Ingredient, high-quality, baked goods. I've served her cheesecakes, pineapple upside-down, and cupcakes at parties and ALWAYS get asked where I got them. Oh, and go have lunch in their chill, clean, sweet-scented store. So good! We ordered cupcakes for our 4 year old's 3-day social distancing birthday weekend. Kia's cupcakes were so good and EVERY guest asked for the name of the bakery and asked to take an extra cupcake home. My 4 year old who only ever eats the frosting on cupcakes gobbled down the whole cupcake and announced "I love Kia's cakes!" The strawberry cupcakes with vanilla buttercream were amazing and the lemon cupcakes with cream cheese frosting were out of this world. Kia's cakes are sooo delicious. I have been to the place atleast twice a week just to sit, eat and enjoy the ambiance. The music is nice, the atmosphere is soothing and relaxing and her blueberry muffins are to die for. If you want delicious cakes and cookies, coffee or tea, and a great experience you should come by and give it a try. The service is welcoming too. Delicious taste no doubt unfortunately poor service. We had one poor experience pre-Covid. And another one this weekend. We have stopped in many times. And ordered twice. Both orders have been epic failures. The first time we came to pick up our order. Much confusion and back-and-forth we had to wait over an hour and the order was not correct. The delicious taste brought us back... Called Friday and left a message regarding what we would need to pick up Saturday. Call Saturday morning left another message asking for a return call. Stopped in Saturday morning because we had not heard back. QUOTE....If you don't hear back from us your order is not confirmed... How are we supposed to know that. They did not have the items we requested. The girls seem to very annoyed and not willing to accommodate or even try to compromise also no apologies. She needs to do better. I placed an order and paid in full, a week in advance and was told to pick it up the following Wednesday. I called to get the time for the pick up of my order and the panic began. I was asked, "Who did you speak to? Did you pay in full? Do you have the receipt because I do not have a record of this transaction?" What! So if I didn't have my receipt she would have claimed or accepted no responsibility for my order that I paid her business for in full, a whole week in advance? I had my receipt. After that was established, then I was told, "Well we can get that started for you right now." Really? I am disgusted and disappointed. You are professional while taking and charging for an order. That you can professionally do. However when it comes to delivering the order at the prescribe time, professionalism is dead, you have no knowledge of the order therefore it won't be prepared at all. I initially gave her business two stars however while writing this review I changed it to one star. The cake that I ordered was tasty. However her unprofessionalism left a bad taste in my mouth. And as a minority business, I feel certain that you do not treat your non minority patrons in this matter. Dear, do not underestimate the power of our patronage. Going forward, treat all your customers with the same level of professionalism. We may be your skin folk and even if we were your kinfolk we are not obligated to patronize you.
