It came with a side of grits which was large enough to be a meal unto itself. She asked for hot sauce and they brought some over- they make it in-house (and you can buy it to-go if you want it for home). It had delicious authority! Hot but still very flavorful. I got a grilled cheese with spinach- it was delicious- very cheesy but also very spinachy and not too greasy from the skillet. The highlight for me was the maduros (plantains)- they were just the right combination of crispy from the carmelized sugars and soft but not squishy, and zero charred taste (which can happen if you are not careful). If I still lived locally, I would be in here frequently- we both left very satisfied and the portions were large enough that we brought home some omelette and some maduros for an afternoon snack. While I'm not a fan of corned beef hash, it looked exactly like how my mom and grandfather like it, with a little bit of crisp to it. I miss those days, and even though this is a breakfast-midday-spot, it makes me feel nostalgic when I am served the food that used to fuel me from those all-night-late-night Philly diners. Eggs, perfect hash browns, sausage patties (not links) hot sauce and ketchup on the table. Lots of breakfast items on the menu and I had never considered it before but I saw a couple order orange juice to blend with their byo champagne... so if you are inclined.
