We found this casual cafe en route from NY to CT and needed a meal and pitstop. Its located near the I84 exit at a small roadside mall and is clean , bright with plenty of seating. The falafel, served with tahini sauce was delicious, moist, and fresh. Also enjoyed the lamb and chicken schwarma which were seasoned well. read more

This place is so amazing! Has a open ambience which is nice and gives the place plenty of natural light. As you enter you have choice to sit either in tables or booths which is always nice. A nice open pastry counter the wraps around to the registers and kitchen. The menu has so much to choose from and honestly you really can't go wrong with anything. I've had many things from the menu either eat in and take out. The meals are so good and definitely will fill you. A bit pricey but worth the price. Slow service but again worth the wait. I don't get why this place has such a high rating. The concept is cool - kind of like a Panera Bread for Middle Eastern food - but the food is just ok and the price is high for the portion size (also kind of like Panera Bread!). For the most part, the food is either portioned in small pieces, or put in plastic containers, so even though it seems inexpensive, unless you have a small appetite or are on a diet, you're going to leave hungry. They also are pretty skimpy on the pita bread - come on guys, that stuff isn't that expensive last time I checked. The people are friendly and the layout kind of reminds me of a clean, fun, cafeteria: bright colors, cool murals, and open space. Kibbe just like back home in Lebanon and variety that I havent seen yet in the US: lentil, potato, pumpkin... Do yourself a favor and try them all. The tabbouleh is authentic as hell and the spicy falafel are a must. Dang. Mixed reviews lead to temptation... would this be a five-star surprise or a total disappointment. Well, it's pretty much smack in the middle, as it goes. I go easy on places offering any kind of Middle Eastern cuisine - maybe I shouldn't - but this was a fairly drab offering. I got the beef shawarma pocket combo, which was a dense, vaguely spicy beefburger patty (shockingly similar to a McDonald's burger with added spices) on a thin pitta with a layer of hummus, a gigantic pile of lettuce and tomato. That's not shawarma. Shawarma is shaved meat. The chicken and lamb shawarma seemed to be the same deal: weird burgers. We also had a falafel combo which was apparently decent, if under-seasoned. The decor is weird, it's like one of those relaxation/meeting areas you get at the entrance of a supermarket, or, as other reviews have said, an airport lounge. Very bright and airy, it looks like they should be selling coffee and cake (which they DO, confusingly - the coffee is Turkish and overpoweringly strong, we didn't try any dessert stuff but they sell truffles and baklava and stuff). It's a weird combo - and it's cafeteria style too (order, pay, take a number, sit down, wait) which sort of takes away some of the exoticness of the food. There's no ambience whatsoever, though on the other hand it is extremely kid-friendly - and the staff are all genuinely lovely and helpful. I'll give this another go sometime, but visit #1 was a very mixed bag. Very good hummus (honestly, the hummus added a star to this review), decent coffee, decent falafel, everything else seems to be a wildly inauthentic stab in the dark. I LOVE Kibberia! It's such a great place to go to relax for a bit and eat great food, without being bothered or rushed to leave. It's a cafe setting, where you go to the counter to order, but the staff will deliver your food. It's so pretty, warm and inviting inside with bright colored walls and furniture. My favorite order is the spicy falafel with a side of hummus. It is absolutely to die for! The tabbouleh is a great side order alongside to cool your palate between falafels. The lamb kibbe pocket is great if you're a bit hungrier. Another major plus...the tea selection! They have an entire binder of great varieties. My go to is a wonderful apricot black tea with honey, it's amazing. Try not to leave without getting some fresh walnut/pecan/any kind of baklava! read more

Really deserves 3.75 stars. Good middle eastern fast food joint. The food is a bit on the expensive side, especially if you are like me and like to sample around, but quite a bit of fresh air in a city that has every fast food joint around and very little outside the American or Italian options on the take out side. The falafel isn't the best I've had, but it is perfectly respectful and you can't go wrong with the spicy falafel option. Several types of hummus are also available and quite delicious (although really, have you ever found bad hummus?). I've also sampled many of the pies offered and can't get enough of the spinach and feta pie. They offer several flat breads that look delicious but I haven't gotten around to sampling any of them yet. My biggest complaint is definitely that they stopped making the stuffed grape leaves. So tasty and I don't know anywhere else around to get the fresh hot variety. Sure, Whole Foods sells them, but they are cold and no where near as good. I also do t like the way they cut their chicken up for certain types of salads. It taste delicious but looks like cat food. read more

This place is really good. I had the Kibbie combo, 6 different types. I choose beef, chicken, potato, and pumpkin. They were all delicious. Though my favorites were the beef and the potato. The humus was delicious and creamy. The tabouleh was delicious, really really delicious. Very fresh. I am putting this on my list of place to recommend. The pita that is served with each meal comes in a thin plastic bag to keep it fresh. If you like middle eastern food, you will like Kibberia. read more

This is a great place that offers a quality that is found in a home kitchen. Fair pricing and exceptional service. FREE WIFI (not a big deal anymore, but it got your attention). Nice Vegan Options (I'm not a Vegan but I play on at Tito's). The owners are very nice and the place is clean, hip, and retro. I great stop before or after visiting Trader Joe's, which is only down the street. I hope that this might convince some yelper to try them out. You wont be disappointed. read more

I don't get how a few reviews say the portions are small. In regards to just the salads they are around 6.99 and you get a HUGE portion in a giant pita bowl. My favorite is the cabbage and lentil salad. Even when I am starved I can usually only eat half. The platters are also very large. As a good Greek girl I can give the stamp of approval that their hummus is awesome. The staff is super friendly and the food amazing. I really liked the idea of Kibberia. Panera-like setup for Middle Eastern food? Count me in! Sadly, the food didn't quite live up to my expectations. Don't get me wrong, it was not bad, just not exceptional. I had the spicy falafel combo platter, which came with a side of hummus and tabbouleh. The hummus was really great, the tabbouleh and pita were decent. I thought the major downfall of my pita was a mealy tomato, but it is hard to get good tomatoes in January, so that might have been beyond their control. If we lived closer, I would easily go back for a quick falafel fix, but I'm not sure I'd make the trek back to Danbury just to return. However, I do want to add that I thought the service was fantastic for what is essentially a cafeteria-style place. The young men they have working there are really on their game and super helpful to boot. read more

Stopped here for dinner on my way home to meet up with friends for a day trip and was seriously disappointed. I love kibbeh and have had it in different countries and this was sub standard. The service wasn't helpful when I asked a question and the hummus and pita were some of the worst I've had. The "hummus" tasted only of tahini and nothing else. I have gone there twice and been impressed both times. Both times I got the Chicken Shawarma Pocket Combo. The chicken shawarma is fantastically garlicky and delicious. The tabouleh is very good, with lots of tender parsley and tomatoes. The hummus is good and so is the baba ghanouj. Servings are generous and prices are very fair for what you get. Denfinitely fresh food! Update (year later)- I have continued to eat here whenever I am in the Danbury area and still love it. Both the chicken and the beef shawarma are delicious. The tabouleh is the best I have ever had and the spicy baba ghanouj is a nice change from plain baba ghanouu. I usually get the shawarma pocket combo; with tax it is less than $10 and plenty of food. I tried the backlava once but wasn't that impressed. The piece I had was a little stale. The desserts are also a little pricey. read more

Stumbled across this gem a couple years ago when I got lost in Danbury trying to find a dinner spot. Some things are just meant to happen and when I stumbled through the door of this cafe I knew I had stuck upon something special. Kibberia has some of the most delicious things I have ever tasted, especially the lentil soup! The owner and staff are beyond nice and courteous. I haven't been in a while but I used to have a business near by and went a couple times a month. Great fresh tasting food, clean facility and quick service. The Kibbe in a pita is a nice option to replace a burger with something a little healthier. I always left feeling full but not bloated. I'm not sure how many definitions shawarma has but though it was good it wasn't what I expected. Also the espresso like coffee (Turkish coffee? Saw them driving home after school recently and stopped in to try it out. I've been there a couple of times and tried the hummus (they have several flavors like olive/oregano, artichoke etc) which is savory, rich and great on the fresh pita bread. There's definitely more in it than the traditional recipe. No more supermarket stuff for me. The baba ganoush is smoky with smooth, thick texture that isn't watery. The tabouli was fresh with parsley and lemon flavors. They make the kibbe and falafel fresh to order which they say (and I agree) makes a big, big difference. The spinach and Feta, Meat pies were great - and a cheese pie which reminded me of a very small Lebanese calzone. I thought the kibbe soup was good but salty. It's very pleasant inside - starting with the young lady taking my order. She was very helpful and patient as I asked many questions about how the food was prepared. this is at best 3.5 I dont understand why you cant rate a restaurant as 3.5 Hope yelp or trip advisor will change thier scoring system so people can rate restaurants as 2.5, 3.5, 4.5 and so forth this restaurant is rated as 4 overall by others, m sure many would have picked 3.5 if there was choice.
