Sushi love boat with soup, salad, edamame, a tempura dish of some sort
    Amanda C.

I went here for my birthday dinner this weekend and let me tell you, IT WAS WONDERFUL. The service was attentive and friendly, the food was to die for, the prices were very reasonable. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant too; a smaller place with a few table, but a nice little intimate spot for dinner. We got the sushi love boat to split, and it came with salad, soup, edamame, and a tempura dish. We also ordered a Sapporo and some sake. Definitely a huge bang for your buck! Lots of food and plenty to share with another or several people. The love boat came with tuna and salmon rolls, and the rolls were made beautifully and it was clear the ingredients were high quality. All delicious, fresh sushi. We had to get a box and we both have a full lunch tomorrow! Couldn't recommend this place enough. It was a wonderful experience overall, and if we were locals, we would come here regularly!

Takeout sushi that is not fresh as we'd expect despite what the store keeper says. Felt my stomach gurgle a little bit later but nothing too serious. Ordered some torch sushi rolls for $20. Generous soya sauce, great/efficient service and complementary miso soup!

Yam tempura + spicy salmon rolls

In my hunt for sushi while in Toronto, I kept seeing Kibo Sushi pop up everywhere. Being so popular I felt like I had to give it a try, and managed to find a time to do so on a Monday around lunchtime. We arrived at this particular location which is near Rogers Centre and there was only one other party seated inside. They have a small section for takeout items, but we were seated at a booth (in total there were only around 3 dine in tables). The menu has SO many options and it was so hard to pick what I wanted. I almost went for the three roll combo but ended up just sticking with two -- the yam tempura and spicy salmon. I actually ordered the spicy scallop but I think I was misheard but I didn't really mind since salmon is one of my favorites anyways. This was my first time also trying a yam tempura roll which I was really excited for. The rolls were quite generous in size especially given the price, and the two were more than enough for me! The yam tempura was perfectly cooked with a soft middle and crunchy tempura bits, along with a drizzle of eel sauce. It also came with additional strips of yam tempura on top! The spicy salmon was really fresh and was also topped with tempura bits and a nice sauce. I'm so sad I only got to come here once since this was probably some of the most delicious, fresh, and affordable sushi I've had! I'll have to be back again when in Toronto to try more of the rolls :)

You can really tell there's a lot of care behind every course. What stood out to me most was how calm and focused the whole experience felt--it made it easy to slow down and actually enjoy each bite. Definitely a place I'd come back to when I want something a little more special.

There were three add-ons (toro with caviar $25, uni with caviar $35, and caviar sushi). I opted in for the toro and uni add-ons. It was strange they give you the add-ons before any other nigiri. Everything was very good and fresh. Standouts for me was the appetizer, all three cuts of bluefin tuna, the lobster (by far my favorite), and the hotaru ika. I would've appreciated knowing that the omakase included or not included toro and uni before I decided on the add-ons but I don't regret it. It was a splurge night after all. Service was very attentive. Note that the dining space is very small. 12 seats around the counter and two tables. There was a very loud gentleman two seats from me who never learned to use his inside voice and totally ruined vibe. But that's not on the staff. Another note is that gratuity is automatic on the bill.

We were seated in a separate room from the regular sushi counter. The chef carefully prepared each course in front of us. The Kaiseki portion was served first, and after each course was given to us one of the servers described each dish and its elements. The sushi courses were served afterwards followed by some desserts. They also gave us an extra dessert for the birthday celebrant. Each dish was really thoughtful and tasty, and the fish was really fresh. The highlight was definitely the A5 Wagyu beef course. The beef was so buttery and melted in my mouth. They even explained the quality of the beef and showed us a certificate of the beef's grading. It was worth the splurge for a special occasion! The meal was amazing and the restaurant itself was welcoming and not pretentious at all.
