Beautiful! Very classy coffee shop. Way better than S-bucks. Tucked off the main highway/street just across from Invermere Brewing. The inside is just lovely... so well organized and decorated... and efficient. They have some lovely nibbles (which we sadly did not partake in) to choose from. The coffee is very tasty. Husband got the drip... light roast. I got an iced vanilla latte with coconut milk. (Their alternative milks - which are not listed on the menu board - are coconut milk and oat milk.) My latte was strong and tasty! Had me buzzing a bit and probably was not a good idea to then sit for about 2 hours in the car as I was hopped up like a spider monkey once we got out of the car in Banff. hahaha! read more

I've never been to the cafe but I ordered coffee from the website which I wouldn't recommend doing. Somehow it seems that I didn't toggle on beans instead of ground coffee (even though I was sure I checked off beans) and now I am getting $100 worth of coffee grounds I can't use. I recognized the error right away and talked with the AI chat bot and called the toll free number 10x but nobody answered. Too bad, good coffee but horrible service. read more

We enjoyed a delicious breakfast sandwich with a coffee. The service was reasonably quick and the food was great. It's an order at the counter and they bring the food to your table... I thought the server could have pointed out the napkins etc to us as they were on the other side of the cafe from us. Other than that, we enjoyed our visit to this lovely spot! read more

Excellent coffee shop/cafe that we found on our way back to the States from Banff. The coffee was flavorful and the chicken sandwich was tasty. Everything was new and well appointed in the cafe. Sparkling clean restrooms and there was even a DJ playing soft rock music for the lunch crowd. They had forgotten a coffee we had ordered but they made it right away and gave us a free coffee because of the minor inconvenience. We spoke to the general manager who told us that they spent a lot of time making the cafe right during the last three years. It shows. Highly recommended. read more

Kicking Horse was an oasis during my visit in the snowy winter; a caffeinated haven I sought during a stop in Invermere during my road trip from San Jose, CA to Edmonton, AB. Talk about winter, 0 to 100 real quick! Whenever I travel, I always seek local roasters and cafes. Enter Kicking Horse! After browsing the short and sweet menu (espresso staples and coffee and tea), I settled on my standard cappuccino and my boyfriend opted for a mocha. My cappuccino was admittedly on the bitter and not-so-smooth side. The mocha on the opposite hand, was quite sweet and exceedingly smooth, perhaps due to the sheer volume of milk. I lost the oomph of espresso in it, though. The space is dark yet open, bright, and colorful. Kicking Horse has a penchant for clever, punny names of the a$$ variety (smart, kick, half, etc). They have a large variety of beans for sale, travel mugs, carafes, as well as other goods like the Airscape container which I wish I had bought but did not. I still think about it today. Though I wasn't particularly impressed with my first visit here, I would definitely give Kicking Horse another try in the future, should I find myself in its neighborhood again. read more

It was so great to visit the home base of my favourite coffee. The shop is dark but bright, they offer lots of merchandise, and a full coffee menu. There are treats to have for a desert or a light lunch. Seating is outdoors and indoors. Coffee was delicious and served quickly. For any Canadian coffee fan, a visit to this Invermere, BC based roaster and cafe, is akin to a religious pilgrimage to whatever your respective homeland. Surrounded by the serene mountains and calm lakes of the Kootenay area, you can truly feel at peace before beginning your coffee journey. You enter in and the beauty of the the regions natural surroundings flow right in with you - except with a coffee bean twist. High ceilings in forest greens, and walls filled with roasted coffee beans - It's like a BC coffee version of Willy Wonkas factory - oh joy! Rapture!! I could wax on about the decor but I'd rather you peek at the pictures and visit for yourself, because what you're really there for is the coffee, and surprisingly enough - their amazing food and baked goods. Hailed as some of the best around, I did my best to sample as many as I could during my short stay in Invermere. The one constant through each of my visits was their espresso based version of the Americano, aptly named "The Canadiano." Cute right? It's the EXACT same thing, pulled espresso and hot water. However, the difference being this is made with freshly roasted, ground and pulled espresso. The verdict: I'd gladly travel clear across Canada for just a sip of this Canadiano again. It was... wait for it.... The. Best. Americano (Canadiano). I've. Ever. Had. EVER. Hot, clean finish, with a rich full taste and the perfect balance between espresso and water so to not water down the caffeine. Perfection - A religious experience (or maybe that was me just waking up after being super groggy). Good news, you won't need to travel all the way to BC for a cup of their coffee, they're beans are so popular that you can buy them all across the country specifically at your local Longo's, Grocery Gateway or Metro!!! I have a bag in my cupboard as we speak! As for the food, I had items over my 2 visits; The Breakfast sandwich (made with ham, cheese and egg), The Breakfast Burrito AND the piece de la resistance - The Espresso Brownie. Both of the breakfast items were hearty and every ingredient fresh. Certainly several steps above your standard fast food breakie. The burrito was my fave between the two and an absolute MUST when warmed up! But folks, that ESPRESSO BROWNIE is the reason people believe in a higher power. Seriously. The tiny little chocolate brick weighed about as much as one yet was soft and easy to pull apart. The espresso was merely an accent flavour to the rich chocolate of this brownie. YES, I'll say it again - BEST Brownie I've ever had. And local friends echoed my opinion. One brownie however is too much for one person, so just be sure you have someone(s) to share it with. This is the place to be in Invermere. I was visiting with my family and happened to see the sign for Kicking Horse Coffee. I love my coffee and knew I had to stop to take a look. This is the roasterie as well as a cafe. The decor is very similar to its coffee package - very black and very sleek. I arrived in the middle of the day and there was a line up with probably 15 people ahead of me. It was busy! I scanned the menu and decided on just a coffee while my hubby got a cold brew. We both enjoyed our drinks very much and loved the atmosphere. The workers there were clearly very passionate about the coffee. The cafe also had a lot of random knick knacks for sale including mugs, shirts, toques and chocolate. We went back the next morning. Still 15+ people in line! I'm saying this is the place to be in Invermere. I had a mocha and my hubby tried the other cold brew. Both delicious. This is a gem in Invermere and a must-visit for a coffee lover. read more

Had no idea the Kicking Horse Coffee was started in Invermere BC and the Kicking Horse Cafe was where they roast and produce their coffee. An incredible story and a great part of history, which makes a great visit a place to go when in the area. The coffee taste great and the atmosphere is nice and vibrant. A trendy spot for locals and obviously young tourist. Always a busy coffee shop every time we go. My husband and I stopped here on our way through Invermere after finding it on YELP due to all the good reviews. We definitely weren't disappointed, the atmosphere is fantastic. We felt we could have just stayed there all day dreaming of the ski town life while enjoying the smells and the modern decor. The history on the walls was fun to read, and we enjoyed some people watching too. The only thing that kept it from being perfect was the mocha I ordered was very sweet, I love bitter mocha's and had asked the barista if their mocha was really sweet and she had said not super sweet, but it was very sugary. It still tasted good, just a matter of preference. We would for sure go again when we're next at Panorama. read more

I'm not a coffee drinker, but since my cousin has worked here for so many years I figured I should check out the cafe. Walking in I was pleasantly surprised. Not only because they could make me a London Fog, but also because my aunt was there so my wife and I had some company while we sipped a hot beverage. The cafe has a decent amount of seating, but on a long weekend you might find it hard to find a table. They have some baked goods, the full range of coffee drinks, and some tea options. The staff were on their toes trying to clear the massive line and got the food and beverages out in good speed. Side note: Don't be shocked if you see local Calgary celeb/former Dragon Brett Wilson coming in for a coffee. read more

I drink decafe most of the time and it is hard for me to find a decent Decafe blend, however, this one smells earthy and rich which is the flavor that I learn towards. It is $$$, however, worth it, therefore, make this a sometimes treat for me. Customer service was good when I inquired about local distribution. They're regular blend is extremely rich and flavorful. The blend reminds me a lot of the area...only packaged with nice beans. A local independent coffee shop here was serving this brand which prompted my attention to write a review. Normally I don't write reviews on coffee brands simply 'cause I don't ask about what beans are used unless on display but I am a huge fan of the flavor. read more

I had to downgrade this to one star today. Any roaster that tries to sell a bean glazed with oil and dark brown as a light roast coffee is missing the point or needs to recalibrate their Agtron spectrometre. The "light roast" Peruvian is at best a light French which in the specialty coffee industry, darker than medium. This takes me back to my first experience which you may read about below. How could they get the roast right on the money with the Moca Yoho yet fail to even come close on the Peruvian and Pacific Pipeline is beyond me. Light roast never has oil on the bean, ever. Kicking Horse sent me a bag of their Moca Yoho to try. What Yoho and coffee have to do with each other baffles me. However, except for a very minor freshness issue, this was a good coffee, not very good but all the same good, and certainly worth buying at $14.00 per pound. It was a blend of Ethiopian and Sumatran coffees. Choclately overtones with a hint of fruit and full body is a good descriptive. The bag states light roast but it is more like a slightly to the dark side of medium roast. Light roast does not have droplets of oil on the surface, this does, plus it is a darker brown rather than light brown to cinnamon typical of a light roast. It was a pleasing cup, definitely among the best available at a supermarket but it is unmistakenly not speciality coffee. My first experience with Kicking Horse Coffee was a bag of Pacific Pipeline purchased at Safeway. Their website states medium roast as does the package labelling; it is a blend of Indonesian coffees. This coffee is saturated in oil and darker than a Calabrian Italian Roast which is Italy's darkest roast profile. In the cup it is reminiscent of a Starbucks black lava. The Moca Yoho falls a tad short of specialty coffee status, but it is close and definitely good coffee. However, their market place is your large grocer and that they cover well. Specialty coffee is superior and it costs more. Specialty coffee your can find in stores that sell 49th Parallel, JJ Bean, Caffe Artigiano, Phil & Sebastian, Terroir coffee beans or the Roasterie in Kensington. Excepting Terroir, all these coffees are roasted by Canadian based microroasters. Sammy Piccolo is a world class barista champion. His brothers own 49th Parallel Roasters and their coffee is between $14.00 and $18.00 per 12 oz bag. JJ Bean is similarly priced and Artigiano is a little more expensive but not much. The Roasterie is more reasonably priced. In most instances these coffees are never more than a week or two since roasting and, except for the Roasterie, they publish their roast date. I have to state that Kicking Horse Pacific Blend is among the worst coffees I have had the misfortune or purchasing. The Moca Yoho is the best I have tasted that is a supermarket sold product, go figure. The wonderful fruitiness and spice of Indonesian coffee has been roasted out, their medium roast is darker than a Starbucks dark roast, the coffee was stale, and it was too dark even to have the chocolate profiles that most darker Indonesians show. By contrast the Moca Yoho preserved most of what I love in Sumatran and Ethiopian coffees. If your on a tight budget the Safeway Select Colombian, in the 2 lb bags only, is usually no more than a month since roast and is $13.99 a bag. Coffee review gave this Safeway Coffee an average of 85 points over the years which means they felt it was good to very good. This is not award winning coffee by any means, just cheap coffee that is quite drinkable. Moca Yoho would be my second choice at double the price. You have to grind coffee yourself. If you grind it at the store or buy it preground, then I am sorry, you have not yet had the experience of good coffee. Coffee is stoned cold dead within an hour an hour and a half after grinding. Nothing can preserve ground coffee. read more

We love this place with a great atmosphere and great staff! The outdoor and indoor seating areas are great. The bathrooms are clean and neat. The mocha muffin is delicious! The vibe here cannot be replicated as it is so good! The lattes are great as is the hot chocolate! Both to die for! The saleable merchandise is a decent quality but a bit pricey considering you are advertising. I can see why the Italians bought this company! There should and could be more Kicking Horse Cafes across Canada. Why keep this secret to the East Kootenay! read more

Every time I go to Invermere I go there at least once. The coffee shop has very limited seating but if you go there during the summer, you can take your coffee and walk around town... during the winter, well, you're kinda stuck in there, or take it back to where you're staying... all in all great place to go to with friends or on your own. read more

My usual order is a Canadiano and it's always done to perfection. Their Newfoundland Fog is seriously the best I have ever tasted. The breakfast sandwich on a homemade bun is to die for. If I'm in a vegetarian mood the breakfast burrito is always an excellent choice. Great sandwiches and salads for lunch too.
