He also knows how to deal with high pressure situations and manage everyone's expectations. His hard working ethics has definitely carried over to his career as a real estate agent. When selling our apartment, I was very impressed by the photos and videos used in his listings. We had a relatively short deadline to sell our place that we were renting out. But Brett worked with our property manager, staged the apartment very quickly and was able to sell our place well before our required deadline. My wife and I later decided to purchase a single family house through Brett shortly after. We initially were looking for a townhouse but after looking at multiple places with Brett and his team across the island, we were very fortunate to find an affordable single family house. Even though I know Brett is extremely busy on the weekends, his definitely made time for us in his busy schedule to look at numerous places for weeks. He definitely didn't pressure us into purchasing a place unless the place seemed ideal for us. I really appreciate that Brett and his team seemed to prioritize that we found a good quality place that fitted our lifestyle rather than how some real estate agents will try to sell you something fast without really spending the time and money to make sure it's a good fit. Another good quality of Brett is that he strategizes throughout the entire selling and purchase process. He is always considering the costs and benefits throughout the process and always considering our available options. Our previous real estate agent 5 years ago never strategized on pricing when we purchased our first place. As a result of all of our strategic planning, we were able to sell our apartment at a higher price than expected and purchase our new home at a price lower than expected. We were probably fortunate to be able to get these results, but I appreciate that Brett works hard to get the best price he can. Overall, I highly recommend Brett Aka and his team (Kandace Izumi and Katherine Martines) for anyone considering selling or purchasing a place. I appreciate that they all kept in touch after the closing transaction and assisted us in coordinating any repairs/renovations of our new place. During the entire rental that spanned over two years, they did everything in their power to avoid required maintenance. To economize, Honolulu City Properties replaced appliances with used appliances. We were without a kitchen sink for more than six weeks and forced to order takeout and eat out. They had no consideration for the inconvenience and added costs that we incurred. The replacement appliances were in such bad condition they would break soon after being installed. Resulting to repeating the entire replacement process. Something was always broken! Debbie Kim kept all of our deposit even though we hired professionals to clean the unit and carpets. Do not do business with Debbie Kim or Honolulu City Properties. She is very difficult to work with. You've been fair warned. There are honest realtors out there!

She represents the owners' side very well and takes excellent care in managing their properties. I have also been a service provider for Honolulu City Properties working on many of Debbie's property management accounts. She cares about the tenants and strives to keep the properties well maintained , balancing expenses as to try to not cause property owners to have to raise rents unnecessarily. On one of the properties she managed, I made a huge error in assessing a leak under a very long driveway. My crew was unable to locate the leak after several attempts and quite a bit of labor. We ended up having to recommend a pipe replacement that would be painfully expensive for a young owner with a brand new family serving in our military. He requested a second opinion and apparently, by the time this company had arrived, the leak had worsened to where it was immediately located and repaired for a couple hundred dollars. That potentially saved the owner thousands of dollars had they had our company replace their pipe under their driveway. Of course, I felt horrible and embarrassed and completely understood when Honolulu City Properties could no longer, for the sake of their owners and tenants, use our company in good conscience. We lost Honolulu City Properties as a good client but still remain good friends. My mom lives in our rental unit so we don't utilize them as our property manager at the moment but Debbie would be our absolute first pick when we decide to rent our property out again and we continue to recommend them to our friends who are looking for a great property manager. Side note: I have had recent conversations with other clients who manage properties and have learned that good property managers are easy targets on social media for unhappy renters. Being on both sides of the business relationship with Honolulu City Properties, they are a top tier company with integrity second to none.

Unless I caused it which his own plumber hired for the job denounced. But nope, owners is in Korea so that would be too much of a hassle. You pay it and get money from insurance. That was his only thinking the entire time. Even forget my lease ended beginning of jan, it was beginning go Feb once leak was fixed. Only then did he decide to do the leave inspection. Causing a sht storm bc instead of ext im not exiting bc I would never continue to do business with such disgusting business ethics. I replaced the shower head, so I told him that and he instead of offering possible knowledge that me doing so had zero to do with a plumbing leak, he took that as me saying I did it. And never once let up. You are a piece of **** and you probably thought I forgot about this or just brushed it off. Yeah right, when you owe me over $10,000 half of which stems from the negligent management of my ledger with bogus charges. The rest is deposit you took also when I left the place spotless, and I have pics/docs to prove this. Which are on public display at the BBB, less than 10 min ago.
