Visited for brunch on a Sunday with my friend. We had made a reservation so got seated right away. The dining room was tucked back behind a front room which had some high tops and bar area. It was cozy space. They had a lot of drink options - cocktails, n/a drinks and coffee, although I just felt like water today. Our server was attentive and shared a few specials. So many things looked good - we wanted to start with the French toast sticks and continue looking, but our server asked that we order our starters and meal at the same time which was fine. After having a great time having dinner here few months ago we wanted to try their brunch. Once again they did not disappoint! Try their duroc sausage, so good! The scrambled eggs reminded me of French omelette, moist and fluffy. Their cornmeal pancakes were tasty; it comes with goat butter and I think the pairing is good. Tiki for Breakfast cocktail was delicious with an espresso infused cream of coconut! Sangria for two had subtle sweetness and also very good. My Americano was strong, but in a good way. I've come to Kiddo a few times now and am very pleased with their pasta deal during happy hour (served at the bar seats and high tops, I think) as well as their full menu. The main dining room is charming, with lots of art on the walls and low lighting. It was a great spot for birthday dinner. My one recommendation - trust the server. Our server made great recommendations and kept us from ordering things that would've been too similar. I came here for dinner on a Saturday night after an active day and left so full and satisfied! We split 5 dishes in total - two that are regular menu items and three that were specials that night. For smaller plates, we did the Mycopolitan mushroom fondue with poached egg and sourdough croutons. This was probably my favorite dish of the night - the depth of flavor in the mushrooms was incredible. We also did two of the special small plates - one was small stuffed peppers filled with a smoky gouda and breadcrumbs, and the other was a halloumi dish served over navy beans and topped with a berry jam. I was already pretty full heading into the main courses, so we ended up taking the majority of those two dishes home! We got the Cavatappi (with long island cheese squash purée, smoked cheddar, chestnut mushrooms, breadcrumbs, and pickled shallots) and the special pasta which was a cacio e pepe style fusilli. Both were delicious, but the fusilli special really hit the spot! The staff were attentive throughout the meal, the ambiance was warm and relaxing, and the food was delicious. Finally experienced Kiddo and really wish I hadn't waited this long. Phenomenal food and service from beginning to end. The mezcal sour cocktail was perfection and so unique with the cold foam top. The blueberry spritz mocktail was so refreshing and not too sweet. We really enjoyed the gem salad and broiled halloumi appetizer. They were both packed with unique and fresh ingredients. The ravioli was like eating little heavenly pillows of cheese- a must order in my opinion! The pork entree was exploding with flavor and just the right amount of acidity. We licked the plate! Was too busy enjoying the food and drinks with amazing company to take any pictures but I definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who appreciates a good (mostly) vegetarian menu. The server didn't do the best job at explaining the best method for ordering (how many dishes, should we share, etc) so we just assumed family style would be easiest. The 4 of us split a few dishes - mushroom fondue, broiled halloumi, gem salad, green garlic ravioli, pork porterhouse, and the wild nettle risotto. It was the perfect amount of food! Two of us are not big mushroom fans but the mushroom fondue ended up being our favorite dish! It's less cheesy than we expected but extremely flavorful. The halloumi is a pretty small portion, we probably should've ordered two of them. My only complaint is the service was a bit slow, especially with cocktails. Took ~20 min for drinks to come out each time we ordered. Between the 4 of us we tried most of the cocktails and mocktails, the old fashioned and martini were both standouts. We came to celebrate my best friend's birthday and had a great time. Its a rather small and intimate space so great for our party of 4 and quiet enough that we were able to catch up and enjoy the food. Staff were all extremely kind and attentive. They checked in about hunger levels and food ordered, since we were sharing everything and not too hungry. We were able to try quite a few things and I thought everything we had was delicious. I love root vegetable chips and thought the ones they had with the beet hummus were so light and crisp. The mushroom fondue was probably my favorite dish, super rich and savory and I just wanted more bread to soak up all the sauce. The best part is that most dishes available were vegetarian so we were able to load up on a ton of different things. Overall, kiddo was a great dining experience and definitely would return. After two visits to Kiddo, I can confidently say this is a great, trendy place to bring both out of town friends or your partner for a nice date night. The menu changes even week to week based on seasonal produce (even the flavor of jam accompanying the goat cheese fritters was different across my 2 visits!) I personally enjoyed the food during my March 2024 visit more than my July 2024 visit. The bucatini I had in March was unreal, and the pork was not as salty as the version I had in July. Overall, what I would order again are the goat cheese fritters, the duck breast, the bucatini, and the pork. The variation in the menu certainly keeps you on your toes but is an amazing way to try out amazing, inventive, vegetable forward dishes. The noise levels in the back / main dining room can get a bit loud during peak hours but the great service and food more than makes up for it. I look forward to coming back and hope to try their dessert and brunch selection next time! read more

Loved dining in Kiddo's corner restaurant in Midtown! With friendly, timely service, delicious food, and a more-relaxed atmosphere due to the city emptying out for Memorial Day weekend, we greatly enjoyed a relaxed brunch experience. Definitely recommend ordering the buttermilk biscuits with apricot jam (4 to an order), which we devoured too quickly to photograph. I loved Kiddo. We came for HH that starts at 1600 -1800 weekdays. We were very impressed I started with a 10USD cocktail, Michael had a 10USD Vinho Verde Wine. For starters we had a stuffed squash blossom and root vegetables with beet hummus and gratis thick sliced bread. Afterwards we shared a a well seasoned salad (from the small plate dinner menu) For dinner we had HH Fusilli and HH basil raviolo. Everything tasted delicious and presented beautifully. Almost empty restaurant when we came for Sunday brunch - weather was nice so we were quickly seated outside. Unfortunately the neighborhood has very limited parking so we had to park about a 15 minute walk away. We tried the fried apple fondue, the biscuits & jam, and the fried goat cheese salad. Food was pretty good! I liked the apple fondue which I kept going back to. The fried goat cheese salad had grapes and was super interesting - unique but I didn't expect it to be cold. Another amazing culinary experience in Philly at Kiddo. Our son, now a Philly resident for the last four years, selected it. Kiddo was in a quaint, homey setting with a bar at the entrance and then an adjacent dining room area. The dining room was a bit noisy but we could still hear each other fine. It appeared to have a neighborhood crowd and there was great eclectic art work on the walls. We had impeccable service. Our waitress was helpful in making some selections and our food come out quickly, with every course spaced out perfectly. We started with the goat cheese fritters and the cheese plate. There were 5 fritters sitting in a delicious blueberry jam. When we bit into them, the goat cheese just melted into our mouths. The cheese plate had 4 slices of a delicious toasted bread, and I especially loved the black truffle cheese and pickled onions. They gave us the leek snack dish as an added bonus! We split the Kennett Square mushroom fondue which was delicious with the restaurants's amazing homemade bread, the malfadine pasta with asparagus, (the crunchiness of the walnuts in it was SO good), the Egyptian spring onion crespelle with ricotta salsa verde and the duck breast. The duck breast was cooked perfectly and we loved the side salad with farro that it came with. We ended with a plate of four cookies: a snickerdoodle, a strawberry shortbread cookie, a sugar cookie with grapefruit icing and a double chocolate cookie. They were delicious but we were partial to the snickerdoodle cookie and the sugar cookie with grapefruit icing. We were all satisfied with the amount of food we ate without feeling overly full. We loved the atmosphere of Kiddo. We had fast and courteous service and the meal was simply amazing!! read more

Wow! What a wonderful surprise Kiddo turned out to be! We are in town for our son's graduation and Kiddo is one of his and his girlfriend's favorites so we had to check it out. Let's start with the service ... top notch! Very attentive and very accommodating. A table side visit by Wyatt only further elevated the experience. But then came the food and wow was it amazing. We enjoyed the Guinea Hen dish, the Risotto, and the Radiatori with brown butter. And "enjoyed" is absolutely the only way to describe our experience. We found each dish's flavor well balanced, savory (not salty), and soft to the mouth. Just wonderful! Topped off the night with blueberry & raspberry pie, salty-vanilla ice cream and affogato. Overall an A++ evening filled with great food, wonderful service, and awesome conversation. Well done Kiddo!! We'll be back! BTW... This new restaurant in the old Pinefish space is the perfect place for a date, girls night, group hang, and you could even bring your parents here. It's a small menu and vegetable forward, but there were 2 meat entrees when we were there and the duck was excellent. They have a small drinks menu and I really appreciated that they had a non-alcoholic section- love a shrub mocktail with all the fixings, makes a girl feel special! We got a snack (brussels), salad (chicory), pasta (lumaconi-like a fancy mac and cheese), and the duck (perfectly cooked) and we barely had room for dessert (so we got one to go and split the zeppoli). Service was great and all the food we got was delicious, interesting, and beautifully presented, but not pretentious. Kiddo has taken over the location of the old Pinefish. Outside a similar layout, you'd probably wouldn't make any connection as they have done an amazing job renovating. Now I do miss Pinefish, however, Kiddo should do well. First, cocktails. I loved walking in and passed their bar with the exposed brick. Maybe being seated at the bar wouldn't be such a bad thing. I'm not normally one to rave about a vodka drink, however, did very much enjoy the Foot Traffic. As for food, you can probably get away with a pasta and main or a pasta and a few apps. Their mushroom fondue was a great way to start things off. Then came the Pork Chop, which was very filling. The menu is on the smaller side, but there is no shortage of quality. I believe they rotate the dessert menu, so not sure how my ranking of the Pear dessert (very good) will influence your selection. Needless to say, they have some decent desserts for you to take your pick. Overall, IMO, you should check out Kiddo. Reservation recommended. read more

This place was surprisingly amazing. Love what they did with the place. Very inviting colors and decor. It's both laid back and elegant. The staff is amazing. They really have a family feel. You can tell that the staff likes the management, as no one seemed stressed. The chef Wyatt was so nice and he came out to the tables to check on everyone. Love when I come into a restaurant and feel the warmth and cohesiveness. The server, Bo, was awesome. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and had a good sense of humor. Our drinks came out quickly. It wasn't very busy, but was starting to get there. My wife and I sat at a high top table in the bar room. It was very nice and cozy. There is another dining area on the other side of the bar room. It's the same quaint ambience. To start we ordered the cheese plate which was delicious. I would recommend they raise the price of this option and add a third cheese. Just more yumminess. The cheeses and condiments were excellent. The sourdough bread was delicious. The Texas toast that comes with the cheese plate was very tasty. The bread seemed freshly baked. The goat cheese fritters were perfect. Lightly battered and lightly fried. The sunchokes came in such a delicious sauce that I needed to ask for more bread to dip. The pasta dish was excellent. The romanesca was the star of the dish. Perfectly cooked. This place really does wonders with the veggies. The star of the meal, however, was the duck. Just perfectly cooked. And for whatever reason I'm that lazy B who just doesn't cross Broad Street. Maybe it's the NYer in me who didn't voluntarily go above 14th street for years or even cross from the West Village to the East. But I finally made the (WALKABLE) trip for a lovely birthday dinner. The cocktails are creative and delicious and their wine list by the glass was solid. They even have mocktails that are unique. The menu changes often with the season but here's what we had: Goat cheese fritters Mushroom fondue Sunchokes Cavatappi pasta with mushrooms and cheese Pork main Bbq butternut squash main This was more than enough for three people and we took some home. Everything was absolutely fantastic. My favorites were probably the sunchokes and the pork main but it really would be hard to rule any of them out of the running. Fresh, delicious, unique, and creative dishes all reasonably priced for what you got IMHO. The staff was welcoming and helpful and the ambiance was cozy and comfortable. And kiddo is even kiddo friendly...they were perfectly friendly to my 8 month old who came with us. I will most definitely be back and highly recommend! I often find that restaurants with really inventive food leave me flat, or hungry at the end of the meal. Not the case here, really great! The only negative was I ordered a martini and they recommended their house gin, I can't remember the name, but it was really bad. Our dinner last night at Kiddo was one of the best meals we've had all year. Seasonal, vegetable forward, playful food that was well-executed. We started with the tempura apples with mornay which was a witty, umami-infused play on the time-tested snack of apples and cheese. The ricotta and spinach crespelles (pictured) were a highlight, with an unexpectedly delightful crunch from the granola. We also enjoyed the mushroom "fondue" which was really just a lot of mushrooms in a savory broth, and the ravioli were good as well. I was charged $20 for my cancellation and when I asked the owner about this charge because it did not match the policy that I had agreed to, his response was that is was a reasonable to protect their restaurant. I'm so incredibly disappointed it the complete disregard for their customers. I regret ever suggesting this place to my friends and colleagues. read more
