I've been going to Kiddy Kastle for 20 years and my family has been coming for around 37 years. My mom and I are the only ones that still go simply because of distance reasons, but it's really hard for me to trust my hair to anyone other than Charlene or Jody because I've never had a bad experience with them. We've brought all sorts of kids here for their first hair cut, my autistic niece included, and things have always gone really well. For a kids focused business the ladies here are not the most friendliest people. My son's haircut must have been the worst he has ever had. We had to trim the parts of his hair that she missed. A waste of $20. We will never go back. She went so fast and missed so much. read more

My husband calls this place ahead of time and asks if they have an opening, they said yes and when he got there he specifically told them our 3 year old son does not stay still and will cry because he is afraid of the machine (I forgot the name). We wanted a certain haurcut since summer is here and wanted to make sure they were able to get the job done despite my sons reaction to getting his haircut. The girl who cut his hair said its fine she CAN get the job done as long as my husband can hold him down. The girl "finished" his haircut and charged him $17 for the most crappiest/choppiest haircut my son has ever had. We will not be returning to this place EVER! read more

I want to start off by saying that my son is terrified of haircuts and extremely difficult to cut his hair. We usually have to hold him down to do it while he screams and cries. We thought going to a place specializing in children's hair would help but it was ten times worse. I am not sure what our stylists name was but she was rude and impatient majority of the time. I get my son is difficult but I expected a little patience. She also aggressively kept shoving my sons head around to get to the back of his hair making him scream and cry harder. I asked her to please not buzz cut his hair, and she argued with me about how that is the only way she could do it because he moves a lot. Of course the noise of it terrified my son even more. At the end we noticed he had random stray hairs around his ears that were very long and the back was lopsided. Because of the treatment up to that point, and because I know those are hard places to get to on a 3 year old, I said not to fix it (I fixed it at home with no tears from my son). once we left, I noticed behind my sons ear was scratched from her being so rough. We will not be coming here ever again! And instead will be going to the hair dresser where we were taking him before, where she cut his hair evenly and gently. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! Took my son here awhile ago (forgot to post the review). This was his first time here, but his second hair cut. He just turned 1 years old. We first went there without an appt and they were booked. Funny thing, no one was there. Gave them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were waiting for their appts. So we decided to come back another day and make an appt. FIRST IMPRESSION- the place is old, dirty and the people are not warm and friendly. The lady who cut my son's hair didn't even introduce herself to us or my son. My husband asked for a certain style and she answered very rudely that at my son's age, it is impossible to do that due to his hair line not being established. We didn't know that and felt like she thought we should know that. HAIRCUT - My son is sensitive and takes time to warm up to others. Otherwise, he will cry. Like I said earlier, this was our first time here, but his second haircut. His first cut he didn't cry at all!! This haircut he cried his heart out. It was so heartbreaking. The lady didn't try to comfort him and/or us. She made a comment that she would not be able to finish. Really?!?! Wow!! But, she did. OVERALL - I thought this was a place of professionals who have cut many kids hairs of all ages and know how to handle all challenging situations. I took my son here a couple times, and the first experience was great, I was impressed, the lady's name was Charlene that did his hair cut and she was very good at keeping him call and he loved the boat. I went back a second time and he got his hair cut by the owner I believe her name is Jodi, she did a great job as well and quick. Each time I had gone I never made an appointment and was always done right away! The last time I went there about a month and a half ago, there was a different girl at the front desk, she was younger w/dark hair I want to say Elise. She did not have a smile, she seemed very unfriendly, and immediately asked "do you have an appointment"? When I told her no she said "well you have to wait until one is available". I was totally fine w/ that but than I felt like she didn't want me to wait I felt very un- welcomed and decided to come back the next day and MADE AN APPOINTMENT since it seemed now mandatory. And she so happened to be there again! So she cut my son's hair and did an awful job, it was not even at all, she was not talkative, friendly or happy to do his hair one bit. I was so disappointed. Since than I have not returned and don't plan to, because of that experience, call me sensitive but I think that is awful customer service! I've since found a new hair salon. read more

Okay we were excited to go come here for my sons (3 years old) first hair cut. We called to make an appointment and got one the very next day which was nice. So we go the next day and arrive on time and everything is going good until they call my sons name. Once he here his name being called (by Allysa) he bolts towards the exit and starts to cry. So we proceed to calm him down with "some success" and get him to sit down on my lap for his hair cut. Our biggest issue with this place was the lady that was going to cut my sons hair Allysa. The whole time we where there she never showed any kind of emotion towards my son. Allysa never tried to anything calm him down or reassure him he was okay or anything like that. I was expecting more from a place that advertises themselves as a "kids haircut" saloon. Allysa seems like she hates her job with a passion. My advice if you do try this place is avoid Allysa. I will not be going back to this place ever again. Allysa ruined a moment that was suppose to be special for us and a moment we cant get back. read more

You got kids, they got hair, then you need Kiddy Kastle! If you have special needs children there is no better place on the planet for a hair cut. My 11 year old child with Autism HATES HATES HATES getting his hair cut, BUT he will "tollerate" a cut from here. He is a bit sad that he can no longer fit into the boat seat, and has to sit in a regular barber chair, but he is getting over it. We usually use Allysa or Charlotte, but have used others and all have been FABULOUS!!!! I've never been unhappy with his haircut even though cutting his hair is like trying to hit a moving target. I am certain that hog tying is easier, bear wresteling too, but that is another review. Walk ins are accepted, but I don't recomend it. Cut is $16 and worth every penny. read more

I took my niece to get her hair done for her birthday and at first i was excited to take her. Once i got there i wasn't very impressed with the service. You would think because they deal with young children the stylists would be friendly and happy but it was the total opposite. I asked the stylist to leave his hair longer in the front because he has curls. She said she would. I showed her a picture of what I wanted. I took my one and a half year old son here today for the first time and was very impressed with the woman who cut his hair, her name is Jodi and I just have to say that she knows exactly what to do. I told her what kind of hair style I wanted for my son and she knew exactly what I meant. She sat my son in this cool chair shaped as a car and quickly gave him a basket full of small toys. I have a two year old son that hates going to get his hair cut. I have taken him to several places and all he does is cry and cry and cry, along with kicking and yelling, I hate taking him to get his hair cut. We were waiting at Cool cuts 4 kids and they were so disorganized, staff didn't know what they were doing, etc. I called Kiddy Kastle and she told me she could take both my kids in 15 mins. I took my daugter here when she was a toddler and I now take my son who is 18 months. This place is decorated very cute and has many toys to keep the kids entertained. Staff is pleasant and friendly enough. I really like this place but gave it 4 out of 5 stars because the last time I was there my son's haircut was done by a younger girl. I think she was new and she kind of messed up my boys haircut. But accidents happen and I will continue to take my kids back again. read more

I was hesitant to take my son to a kids salon because I had read horror stories about germs and cleanliness. However, this salon is clean and my kids have never had any issues. We use Jodi and she is amazing at cutting kids hair. He never cries and even when he moves around she just goes with it and his hair always comes out great. The only downside (for me) is they only take cash or checks. I dont carry cash (and who writes checks anymore haha). But because Jodi does such a good job I will make an acceptation. I highly recommend this place and have referred several people. read more

Website says to just come in or make an appointment. We walk in kid in tow. The place is dead except one stylist, and one client. The lone stylist doesn't even smile just asks if she could help us. We tell her our baby needs a haircut & visibly annoyed she snaps "Do you have an appointment?" We say no & she says "Yeah I have nothing until 12:45. Do you want to wait?" Still no actual enthusiasm to help us. It would be a 45 minute wait, but honestly who wants to wait around and pay money to be treated poorly? No thanks! We have been taking our son here for years with okay results. This weekend was a disaster. Thought we'd get his hair cut for the holidays - they cut off his sideburns completely on one side, buzzed way too high over the ear, the other side has a sideburn and hair down to the ear - it's like two different hair cuts on each side. We have been going here for quite some time now. My son has high-functioning Autism and absolutely hates getting haircuts (sensory issues). Ms. Charlene has been THE only person who can cut my son's hair. It was difficult the first few times we went, but Ms. Charlene was very patient and has been very understanding and accommodating of my son's needs. Staff is not friendly right from the start. It was my daughter's first time getting a haircut at the age of 1 and she was nervous and crying. I have 3 kid, all with a TON of hair. My daughter is 10 and LOVES the fancy braids she gets at Kiddy Kastle. My twin boys are 7 and have Autism. We have been bringing them here for the past 4 years. They always do a great job, they are patient, and quick. My boys don't mind getting their hair done now, but when the were really little they used to throw a fit. My 18-month-old son was a little timid (first haircut), but the stylist cut his hair quickly while I held him. It looks great! Came here a couple of weeks ago to get my toddler's 1st haircut. This was a our first visit. The staff lacked professional customer service. The woman with the long black and gray hair (I didn't catch her name), became frustrated with my husband and I when we simply and concisely requested to keep our son's hair lengthy on top. She threw up her hands and loudly exclaimed, "You need to show me pictures of how you want his hair, and need to figure it out because we don't grow hair here, we cut it."
