They had availability so did a first visit for my toddler a few months ago and everything the doctor said (forgot his name, he was very tall) came true a few days ago. So I definitely trust that particular doctors judgement. The place was small but clean and everyone was friendly. The staff at the front were really nice and so was the hygienist but unfortunately the dentist went straight to IV sedation with no other method of talking about anything else. Also when we asked for our records and chart records, they tried to charge us $45 after we had already paid for them just to get second opinion at another dentist, we won't be going there again and I would never recommend it to anyone. Also, when we went for a second opinion, we found out my son had an infection in one of his teeth which they never even told us about. read more

We brought our kids to this office a few times. The first couple of visits were ok. But our most recent was not. Dentist said our daughter had a cavity. We went in to have it filled and we were to parent could not be in the room. This made my 6 year old daughter very upset and caused her to refuse treatment. Dr suggested sedation then said it was policy to not allow parents in room. When I questioned it I was lied to and told it was illegal. I called several children's dentists and all confirmed that there is no law making it illegal. We took my daughter to a different office and took new x rays and I was shown the ones this office took and there were a few other small cavities that needed to be filled that this office neglected to tell us about. My wife and I have been taking our kids to Kids Dental Smiles for two years now and can say without a doubt they are the best in the business. They are always friendly and courteous and our kids love the staff. Dr. Engels is always nice and patient with our kids (7 and 4 yr olds) and has been outstanding even with the more difficult procedures. the environment is welcoming and fun and our kids never complain about going to the Dentist. Both Dr G and Dr Engles are great with the kiddos and my main issue with the cedar park location is the dental assistants. They could have better bedside manner and be less intimidating. Glenda doesn't even bother to smile or speak to my child. Both she and Jasmine had a stern demeanor and could be more gentle and friendly as they are dealing with kids. Glenda also didn't do the most thorough job in cleaning that Dr Engles have to follow through. I have been to different dental clinics with wonderful dental hygienists/assistants and I'm disappointed to see the attitude shown by the dental assistants at kids dental smiles. I really love this office. We bring all 6 of our kids here and they love it. Who'd have thought? The office staff has always been very friendly to us in the 6+ years we have been coming. We normally are seen within 10 minutes of arriving and the waiting room is setup to give very little and big kids something to be distracted by. There are lots of blocks and toys, and even little gizmos on the walls for the kids to spin and flip and generally amuse themselves. The kids also have a room with a retro arcade machine and a few wall mounted iPads. I am certain that no one has ever been bored here. There is a parent waiting room for you to sit in after your kids head back for cleanings, etc.. That said I have never been told that I couldn't go back and sit with my little ones while they get a once over. As for the actual dentistry, I have no complaints. We've gotten cleanings, X-rays, some help with one of our children who was a long-term thumb sucker (which they helped us get resolved). I was reading through a couple of the other reviews and was bummed out to see other folks talking about inattentive or uncaring doctors and nurses. In my expieirience everyone has been super willing to accommodate my kids quirks and eccentricities when dealing with things being shoved in their mouths for half an hour. My 3-year-old recently couldn't handle the X-ray film they have to put in her mouth and the nurse gave it a good try and tried to play some games with her, but didn't push it when it wasn't working. She just suggested we do it the next time we come in. Sounds reasonable to me. We have dealt with Drs. Gudapati and Engels on different occasions and both of them have seemed pretty laid back and in no particular rush to push us out the door. Dr. Engels spent 15 minutes after one of our appointments just describing the way teeth come in and how the depth of grooves in baby teeth could affect my kids dental health. Fascinating - and it really seemed like he cared that I understood what he was explaining. Overall, I can't think of any medical facility I'd rather spend my time in. read more

After a few disappointing visits with other dentists - when I told my kids it was time for their check up's - they were less than thrilled. We visited Kids Dental Smiles for our first time last week. Amazing service. The office is brightly colored and interactive for kids. They are fully staffed which meant my 2 kids could get x-rays & cleanings at the same time which saved me so much time! The hygienists were amazing and kind. My son was quite afraid of getting work done but they put his mind at ease and made the visit a breeze. Kids left smiling with balloons & tooth brushes in hand. So I have a kid that delights in being the "last kid to earn a behavior star in class" and begins his day talking and sort of generally vibrating (and stays that way). So getting him to sit still while someone is in his mouth for 15 minutes is dang near impossible. We just finished our second six month checkup and have had a chance to have both Dr Engels and Dr Gudapati; both are Ahhhhhmazing. This office is completely set up to motivate, distract and cajole children to sit still and LIKE the dentist. Every single person, from the front desk to the hygienist to the dentist are patient and helpful. Every detail is handled from the fruity tasting gloves to the bubblegum floss to the movie playing above his head. It is a painless experience. And I think we can all appreciate a painless dentist. I am giving this review 5 stars because I agree with how Yelp describes what a 5 star review should be, especially in this case, "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" My youngest daughter, as much as I hate to admit this, had a cavity. This was my first experience with a cavity for a child, so I didn't really know what to expect. Well, that's not completely true. I knew exactly what to expect, since the office made sure that all of our questions were answered at the time of scheduling and then, again, before the procedure at the office. My fear was a bit more about how my daughter was going to do with the medication and how she would do during the procedure. But, it turned out that I had nothing to fear and there was never a point in which I felt that I could not be by my daughter's side. As a matter of fact, she tired of the movie that she was watching and got a bit fidgety before they could finish putting some sealant on her teeth, so they asked me to come back to where she was and see if my presence could help get her to sit still for just a bit longer. My presence didn't help, but they were never uptight or frustrated about it and eased my concerns about not getting it done. Once it was over, my daughter was all smiles and mentioned that she was not in any kind of pain. She loved getting a treat from the treat machines (I think she got a rubber bouncy ball) and a balloon. Honestly, the only disappointment I have with Kids Dental Smiles is that Dr. Gudapati and Dr. Engels don't work on adult teeth. :) This dentist is officially Mom approved! read more

Place is a joke. I have nothing but issues with this place. Dr. Ingles cut sons lip with a drill tried to tell me he bit it. Also went back for tooth bleeding and oozing after a crown was put on just told be told it was from gum inflammation due to crown.....crown was out on two weeks ago. Took son to another dentist to get confirmation that he DID in fact have a infection as well as abscess from the crown and needs an extraction..also dr tingles said he filled my other sons cavity....I took my son to a new dentist to find out in fact he did not fill it.i would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Dr. Gudapati is fantastic with my 8 year old son. We have used this dentist for our son since we moved here nearly five years ago. The office is very clean and kid friendly. The staff does a great job putting the little patients at ease. There is also a parents area in the back where I can wait in quiet and have a moment to myself while they take care of him. I have only had positive experiences at Kid's Dental Smiles, and the dentists and technicians are very sweet and attentive. The office is as close to a wonderland for kids to make them feel comfortable there, so we really love that. I will say that we've had some billing issues with them- they did sealants on my son's teeth, and when I called to make another appointment, tried to offer sealants again. I had to talk to three different people between calling and arriving to convince them that he had the procedure already. It was slightly off putting. I do wish they would stop trying to urge parents to hide out in the parent cave because there is no way in Hell I'm NOT going to accompany my kids into the exam area. At our first visit, I made it clear that I wouldn't be participating in the parent retreat, and they've never pressed it since. I don't care who you are, DO NOT test a mama bear that way. Please stop trying so hard for us to relax and enjoy a coffee while our kids are being worked on. There is no amount of video games, stuffed animals and cool toys that will make a kid feel 100% at ease at the dentist. I've been bringing my kids here for years just recently their insurance changed and I gave the office ladies the information at our last visit.. however when I walked in 6 months later for their checkup (which was few days ago) I was told my insurance was not accepted..? I never received a phone call prior letting me know even though they had my insurance information from our last visit..pirr costumer service even though I've been bringing my children there for sometime now.. it was not easy getting my kids ready as you can understand, brushing their teeth Etc very disappointed with this facility. Great experience here. My older kids are treated well, my 3 year old, who is very shy and scared has been treated amazing by Dr. Engels. Based on a friend's advice I took my 3-yr old to Kid's Dental Smiles for his first dental visit. My intention was to introduce him to the whole dental thing, get him comfortable, have the doc just take a look at his teeth. When I arrived I filled out the forms and sat down with Mav. I waited and waited and then after 25 minutes after my appointment I asked what the problem was.. the said I could go in shortly and I did, 25 minutes late. I took off work that day to do this so I wasn't too happy about the delay. Also, the clerk at the front was telling me I should do some fluoride treatment thing to my son even before I went it.. Not sure why the front-desk clerk feels qualified to give out dental advice, especially before anyone has even seen my son's teeth. I went in and the doctor was trying to be nice, but he was in such a hurry his was freaking my son out. In about 6 seconds it was "Hi Maverick, I am Dr. Blah Blah, here lay down under these strange, bright lights NOW!" I thought a kid's dentist would have a nice way with kids?? What was I thinking?? Maybe the Doc was making up for all the time he lost earlier on Mav? With my help he looked at my son's teeth. He then went on and on about what he wanted to do and I had to stop him and say "You haven't even asked me what I wanted when I came here today".. Doc says, "OH".. I think Dentists in general somehow think Americans are a bunch of stupid cows than have no ability to decide for ourselves what dental treatment we need.. Needless to say, I am not thrilled by this dentist but willing to give them one more try. read more

I'll start with positive... The pediatric dentists are really great with the kids. This is year two with overbilling. It has to stop or my family will use someone else. I have run my own business before and I know how to read a EOB. I can see overbilling a mile away. You can't tell me that I owe you $250 one day and then a year later try to tell me that I have a balance of $50 when I shouldn't. I have a cleared check statement and a EOB that shows such information. Then they go on to tell me that they don't know why they never sent the statement. Questionable billing to me. If you don't know why it was never sent and you can't explain the amount due then you shouldn't bill it. PEOPLE WATCH YOUR BILLS. This place loves to take you for a joy ride with your hard earn money. Let me add that the when I asked to speak with the manager nowhere to be found. I called all (3) locations. All (3) locations stated: "She's not here she's at a different location." Questionable business. take your business else where. read more

I bring both my 7 & 6 year old here. They have been here for a lot of work :( the staff has been nothing but nice and concerned about my kids and them having a good experience. We are seen very promptly. My only problem has been a rough spot on a filling in my sons mouth. They got him in very quickly and fixed the issue. My kids love coming. They get to watch movies while getting the cleanings and work done. They don't have a problem with me going back there if I want. read more

This is the coolest little dentist. I wish this existed when I was little cuz it would have made it much less stressful and scary. My baby has been coming in since her 6 month checkup and is put at ease by the ambiance and staff demeanor. Everyone is super nice and it's beyond kid friendly. Like, to the point of being a place they might want to go to just hang out. There's an arcade for older kids. Baby stuff in a little nook. A parents retreat where you can hide for a few while they check out issues. Love the Charlie Brown theme. It's always clean and quiet. It's just perfect for kids. They are quick and thorough and make sure you understand your child's needs if anything has changed. I just wish all businesses were this awesome. Wouldn't that be a change?! read more

I took my two girls to this office for their first dental visit and couldn't be happier! This office is extremely busy and we were in and out of there quickly. Everyone was so knowledgeable and efficient, not too mention the nicest bunch of staff members I have ever encountered! The visit was thorough with all of my questions answered. The place is so kid-friendly and truly fun for the kiddos, something I would never expect from a dentist's office. Whew, was in and out with my three kids pretty quickly. I downloaded the forms for first time patients and had those filled out when I arrived to help speed things along. The front desk, techs, and dentist were all very friendly. The ladies who cleaned the kids' teeth were especially nice. The entire visit was a little speedy, but seemed thorough and they did answer my questions. Apparently they are very booked in the afternoons and have to stay very on time. We homeschool so I think I would choose a morning appointment next time just to not feel rushed with questions (since this was a first visit, I had a few). Thanks for a good visit! read more

Horrible service! No regard whatsoever for long term clients. I was with this office since 2008, I referred many friends and family and it took 3 days for my 5 kids to get dismissed as patients. I get that they have a 24 hour in advance cancellation. They kept calling my kids dad to schedule appts. And he kept making appts for my kids without asking me. And I couldn't make it. My son has a medical condition and was being tested those days. When I called to reschedule the original appt. they said the dad had rescheduled 2x, making our family ineligible to be patients there anymore. Even if I didn't m ke of these appts. Fine. I will take my kids elsewhere, but just know that I will put my story out there. To whoever listens. Because we remain loyal to our physicians and they never cared to begin with. My pediatrician recommended we come here after my son (two years old) broke his front two teeth. They tried to do the most conservative process first, and refunded us when that didn't work. We ended up having to have caps put on and even though I was terrified, it was a smooth process. Yesterday, My twins had their first office visit with a cleaning. They are two and everyone was so nice. My twins didn't cry at all and were so excited to get a balloon and treat after we were finished. I'll start with the one positive... The pediatric dentists are really great with the kids. I have tolerated the business side for 6 years but had enough... I won't bother with the small items in this review. The big item was that my kids saw the dentist in mid-December. After the visit, I asked my balance and was told that my insurance would cover it. I responded by telling them that one of my children had 3 visits this year and I'm sure I did owe something. I was told that I was receive a bill if that was the case. In January, I received a call from the front office stating that they just received the explanation of benefits from the insurance and i owed $32 and needed to pay it immediately. It was stated in a way that I was delinquent in my payment. I asked for the manager to call me to discuss my many issues with the business side of the practice and for the bill to be mailed to me, as i was driving at the time. Not only did I not receive a call, 5 days later I received a letter stating my balance was past due and threatened my credit score. I never once received a bill. I went ahead and paid my small balance but cancelled all future appointments. I am the practice administrator of medical practice and would never treat my customers in this manner. The dentists need to find new management. read more
