Came to KDT to check things out. It was an afternoon and there was no one in there but the two ladies working there. Never was I greeted, they were just too extremely busy to bother to even muster up a 'hello'. I was walking around and one of the ladies was hurriedly putting clothes on racks and a couple of times I guess I was in her way as she was trying to rush by us hang more clothes which she seemed to annoy her. So I went by the counter where the other lady was standing behind and stood there and waited for her to ask me if I needed any help...I just wanted to ask what their procedure was for selling items. So when I realized she wasn't going to address me, I was the one who had to get her attention. I asked her about their buying procedure, and instead of coming closer to the front of the counter, she was shouting from all in the back of the counter. I told her I couldn't understand what she was saying and had to ask her several times to repeat what she said. She repeated once again, but I still couldn't understand. So instead of asking again, I just left it at that and just left. Poor, poor customer service...why would I want to give my business to these rude a$$ people? I love children consignment stores and have been to quite a few (shopaholic!). I came here looking for something to beat out the Children's Orchard's prices and selection (been going too often lately and no new clothes are showing up), needless to say this fell a little short. It did have a few pros that I liked: 1) There is an enclosed play area for your kids to play in while you shop (my son's too scared of new places for me to take advantage- all I kept hearing was "mommy come with me" and after 6 attempts to sneak out I had to endure 30 minutes of pretending to eat pizza he cooked up. There is no way to shop while you are in this area) 2)The boys and girls sections are separated- hell yes! So much easier! 3) The toy section is also separate and closed off so you can avoid this area all together. 4) It is roomier than Children's Orchard but not by much (at least in the section I was in) Now for the cons: 1) The prices are higher than Children's Orchard. I've been sheltered I guess but if I can buy a Ralph Lauren shirt for $5 why would I pay $4 for Old Navy? (I dunno but I did- like I said I need variety in my life!) Don't get me started on the raggedy pj's they had for $5! 2) The clothes here are not as "gently used" some like I said were a little raggedy to say the least. And the toys fo-get-about-it! They weren't cheap enough to begin with but dang can you at least make sure they aren't broken or dirty? I almost bought a toy for $15 til I noticed it wasn't complete and I would have to take it home and clean the marker off. (I could of probably found it new at Toys R Us for this price!) 3) The shoe selection was WEAK! Hose them down at least- dang!! 4) I found brand name stuff (Old Navy, Circo) but nothing designer =o( (I like to pretend I got money SOMETIMES- lmfao- but I'm not kidding) All in all it is better than a Salvation Army- the prices just need to be lowered, products need to be cleaned and for goodness sake if it has a hole in it or the fabric needs to be shaved- don't try to sell it to me!! read more

Love this place! Being Grandparents and not wanting to spend a whole lot on toys for our grandbabies playroom, this was the perfect place. We bought a sheep rocking chair, 2 Melissa and Doug puzzles and a large dump truck for $38! The rocking chair alone is $50 @ Home Goods. The toys were in good condition and they have so.... many toys to pick from. Will definitely be coming back again. read more

While Children's Orchard may be better for clothes, Double Time is a treasure trove of toys. Most are in a gated room, which is nice if you have a kid in tow and you don't want him or her pulling down loads of clothes from their hangers while you shop. But don't miss out on the matchbox car and wooden railway bins that are in the main room. I like classic, wooden toys and I can usually find several great pieces if I take my time. Prices seem to fall between 25% and 50% of the original sticker (i.e. they're 50-75% off). The staff is nice, and will hold items you plan to buy if you want to continue looking hands-free. As other reviewers have noted, the store is messy. However this is partly because your kid is allowed to explore and try out some (not all) of the toys. That may be a contributing factor to the mess, but you'll also discover like I did that your son really likes putting dolls to bed rather than stacking blocks. read more

Every time I need to get something for my daughter, the first place I think of is KDT! I have their number saved on my phone and I have become good friends with both of the workers there! If you are looking for reduced prices on slightly used items for your children, this place is absolutely perfect...there is a place down the street from me in Hermosa Beach, but I choose to go out of my way to drive straight to KDT! The two women that work there are extremely kind and they are always working hard. Every time I am in there I never see them sitting, slacking, relaxing, or chilling! The items I get from there are in excellent condition and I have spent about $300-$400 there in the past 2 years!!!! The place is organized and even has a little spot to drop your kids off to play while you finish up your shopping! They have an entire room dedicated to toys to buy. They have multiple bookshelves of books, DVDs, VHS, music, etc. They always have great items for sale! They even have someone who makes bows and tutus, and they sell the homemade bows and tutus right in the middle of the store! The two women are very friendly and take time out of their busy lives to make sure you are having a good shopping experience. This man came in the other day and desperately needed to find the right size helmet for his grandson or nephew. The woman that worked there went out of her way to explain the sizes they have and the different choices available. I needed a bottle warmer, but wasn't sure if the one they had worked. I also didn't know if the bottles I had would fit! They have so many bottles for sale there, she grabbed the kind I had and showed me that they would fit! She also plugged it in for me to make sure that it works. She said, "If there are any problems at all, bring it back!" This place has SO MANY DANG CLOTHES, I'm shocked that not every person with a kid in the south bay is in there and taking all of these items off of KDT's hands! The only cons of this place: ---The store is small, with how many clothes and items they have! ---Some items and toys haven't been fully cleaned. But let me tell you my opinion about that...these women work their asses off to make this awesome store possible! I wouldn't be surprised if only a couple items in the WHOLE shop were just a little tattered! Also, if you are buying USED items, they will look USED! (SHOCKER I KNOW!!). If you are buying these items for a discounted price, you should be thankful that they are at a discount and you can grab a Clorox wipe and wipe it down yourself if it's that big of a deal to you! ---They have an old register and receipt system. The "office" space that they have is this super tiny box in the store. It is always overflowing with items that they are getting ready to put on the floor. I feel so bad for the women that have to work around each other in that tiny box! I would feel so claustrophobic... ---A little unorganized. When I first walked in that store two years ago, I was overwhelmed and it was unorganized. Over the past two years of me coming back, they have GREATLY IMPROVED their organization methods of that store! It still needs some work, but it is way better than it used to be! ---Needs more traffic! I believe that if the owner created advertisements, events, raffles, etc. to get their name more out there they would definitely have more traffic! They could put big signs out front advertising different items or sales! Overall, this place is absolutely amazing! The staff is knowledgeable and kind! It's a great second hand shop for kids. You can find some great little outfits of toys for a good price. If your getting bigger items check the price online first. I saw a bike trailer they were asking $50 and it was beat up. You can get the same trailer online for $75. Might as well buy it new in that case. read more

Marcia and crew have aptly appointed the store with an exceptional selection of lovingly used clothing, toys, books, games, gear, furniture, and the like. My first time selling items was such a pleasant and rewarding experience. Marcia is so friendly and knowledgeable and clearly has a passion for what she does. I received a really reasonable amount of cash for my gently used baby items including an Exersaucer, infant bath tub, crib liner, mobile, and some other goods my 15-month-old no longer needs. I love that they offer an additional discount on clothing for military folks whether they are active or not, and a grandparents discount day one day a week. I truly love this store! I always find what I need for my son. Who wouldn't snatch up a Lightning McQueen toy chest? Batman tank top? Sublime band shirt? I did!! My family and I recently went to the desert for some camping/off roading, do I needed some really warm clothes for my son. I found two pants, jacket, boots and a truck(the kind with a handle so he could dig in the dirt). I had also brought in stuff to sell. I only had to pay 15 for everything after I used my credit I got from the stuff I brought in. 15 may sound like a lot but one pair of the pants I got were like snow pants that were practically brand new and probably cost 40+ if bought new at the store. I used to own a consignment store so I know the difficulty of over accepting items and the customs complaints when they are turned away. Kids Double Time is the best! The best place to unload your old baby gear, clothes, toys, etc. and also a great place to find all kinds of treasures! My kids are older so we don't need baby gear any more but my kids love to visit to look at all of the toys and books or to play in the kids play area in the middle of the store while I shop. I do my part for the environment by buying and selling here. Most of the clothes that I buy don't make it back (they have to the run the gauntlet of all the kids first, which means they rarely survive without a stain or a tear) but I've bought toys and then sold them back a couple of years later so that another kid can love them for a while. One star off for the heavyset hispanic employee who hasn't managed to put a smile on her face even once in all the times I've shopped there, and I usually stop by once every 4-6 weeks, for the last several years. I groan inside whenever I see her behind the desk. She always acts like everyone is trying to rip her off, or like she's getting ready to have an argument. Her demeanor is very "take it or leave it, I really don't care", even when you're only buying. She once argued with me saying that I had missed the return window by one day, when in reality the store had been closed that day due to a major holiday, and I showed up at opening time the following morning. Luckily the other employee, the main buyer, stepped up to keep a loyal customer happy in that incident. The owner and the main buyer are super sweet and are always ready for a friendly chat, no matter how busy they are. read more

The store is cluttered, the merchandise is overpriced (you can get new stuff on clearance at most stores for cheaper than the new clothes), and the staff is inconsistent - some are really helpful, some are so rude I want to scream. If you avoid the clothes and the dirtier toys, it's a great place to get large items that age well - strollers, rockers, etc. If you're trying to sell items, be prepared to receive a low offer. read more

This place is fabulous! As a mother of twins I always have a ton of stuff, but always try to find two of the same thing or something similar. Marcia and the ladies look out for me and call me when stuff comes in. If I am looking for something, you put my name and number on a list and call me when it comes in. As far as them buying items, I find they are pretty reasonable and I love the fact that I don't have to make an appointment. If you balance out the hassel versus the value of dealing with "Craigslist" (or other selling site), by far Kids Double Time wins every time. What's even better is if there are some high ticket items that you can probably sell online at a higher value and is a "hot ticket", these ladies always tell you and give you that option. It's hit or miss but they tend to have the foundational items you need for a newborn - pack n play, rock n play, swings, etc. First time I went though I found the items way better quality. This place is a dump!! I saw a nursing cover with a stain on it and almost all of their stuff is dirty. She claims to buy your used baby items but almost every time I take my kids stuff which is in very good clean condition she always wants to give me store credit instead of buying them for cash. I noticed quite a few exersaucers and activity centers for sale, which seemed to be in decent shape...but not what I was shopping for. I was looking for some pants and a hoodie to carry my 7 mo old daughter through the rest of the frigid Redondo Beach springtime. The prices for the condition of the clothing were disproportionate. Why would I pay $7 for a raggedy item that I can buy new/full price at Target or on clearance at Kohl's? And that's exactly what I did. Came in yesterday to check out some baby clothes. Some of them are a bit faded and yet still too pricey! At $4.99 & Almost the same amount as a mix and match shirt at target! I had expected them to be a lot cheaper. At the childrens orchard, most of their baby clothes still has color on them & pretty too (well-selected to sell) & Also to mention that even if they're still so good looking, I was able to find ones priced only between $1.99-$3.99! Im sorry but I just can't help but to compare. That's what reviews are for anyways. They sell used baby bottles too! I left wondering if is it even ok to use other kids used bottles? Too crowded and overstuffed place. Gave atleast two stars coz they sell almost everything you can think of including baby formulas right when you walk-in from the parking lot. Went here for baby toys and play things and found exactly what I needed. Prices weren't yard sale cheap - averaged approximately half of retail price. The items I was looking for were found easily, in good condition, simply needing to be washed at home. I don't have the patience to look for clothes at a place like this, but they had tons of clothes. I'd recommend Double Time in particular for baby items that will quickly be outgrown such as a bumbo baby seat or an activity center. This place is a hidden gem. They have pretty much a little of everything and when kids either destroy or get over things quickly, buying something that is very inexpensive and slightly used makes a lot of sense.
