I went to this Carter's store on Saturday afternoon with my two-year-old and six-month-old. I was looking for a cute outfit for my baby's half birthday and also some matching Christmas clothes for my toddler and baby. It's hard to find matching sets online sometimes, so I decided to visit the store. I actually found some adorable matching pieces and got really excited! I found the right size for my baby, but I couldn't find the toddler size. I asked a store associate if they had a smaller size in the back, but they just said, "Whatever's out there is all we have," and didn't offer to check or help me find another option. I left without buying anything and felt disappointed. Maybe it was just a bad day for the staff, but it didn't feel very welcoming or helpful. I really love Carter's clothes, but I'm not sure I'll visit this location again. read more

[Review #206] Carter's Babies & Kids is a great store for your children's clothing needs. I like their clothing, & they mostly hold up to the wear & tear of an active child. Since they're a ubiquitous brand, you'll definitely need a gift receipt because I've seen duplicated presents at baby showers or birthday parties. :-O Bonus: Carter's regularly runs promotions through out the year... from 25% - 75% sales to $6 doorbuster sales to clearance items with an additional 20% discount. There's also a couple of boys & girls sale racks at the back of the store, usually previous season's or sale items. I like most of their clothing & accessories; however, I do not recommend their doorbuster individual onesies, they seem to "pill" more than the onesie sets, which I haven't had any issues. The clothing sets makes it easy to dress your LO. It's usually a long sleeve & short sleeve onesie with a pair of pants or shorts, or a short or long sleeve shirt with a jacket & pair of pants. Sometimes instead of dressing my LO in PJs, I just throw on the set the night before to save time in the morning. ;-) My LOs fav are the glow-in-the-dark PJs, but it can be distracting that they end up staying up... usually "playing monsters" or hide & seek in the dark. LOL The lines can be long with only 1 register opened (this is especially annoying when they're having a blowout sale) even though there are additional staff on the floor. And customer service can be iffy, I've had superb/excellent service, to the bare-minimal-no-greeting-just-ring-up-purchase, & something in-between. I like the location & convenience of this store in the Torrance Promenade because I can pick up groceries across the way at Trader Joe's or satisfy my burger cravings at In & Out. Overall, Carter's offers a decent foundation for your LO's wardrobe. read more

And it's a bonus because they have large range of sizes so I can get something for my baby girl who's 9 months and my god daughter who is 4 years old. Coming into the store as a pregnant mom I was looking for a couple of new items to purchase for my daughter's arrival and 3 women employees did not greet me when entering the establishment nor asked if I needed help looking for anything. As well as advertising the 50% marked items in the store. I seen the sign outside the store which drawn me in to take a look around. No one approached me which made me feel unwelcomed. I left and didn't want to purchase. WONT BE RETURNING!!! Whether your having a good day or not a simple gesture or anything I can do for you let me know ", goes a long way to anyone. When you pop out the first grandchild and great-grandchild of three different family lines, you get a lot of gifts. And if you pop out a baby girl, she gets a lot of clothes. And if she's fortunate enough to be surrounded by the most generous family and friends, she gets more clothes than literally three babies could wear. Which is why I hate to return and exchange several items at Carter's, many without a receipt. The customer service is fantastic every time. They really try to work with you and are very polite no matter how long you take to pick out replacements and exchanges. The store has a complete selection, and there's plenty to pick from. It seems they're always having some sort of special or sale, and the clothes hold up through many washes and don't easily stain. A big thanks to the people who work here. I had a terrible shopping experience with Carter's and don't recommend anyone buy items from this company unless you want to be disappointed. I ordered a t-shirt with a sports logo from Carter's for my child for a special school event - a shirt I was only able to find through their website. I made sure to order it well in advance of their shipping timelines for a store pickup in Torrance and the day before the item was supposed to be ready, I found out they cancelled/refunded the order. There was no notification sent to me and I only found out after manually looking up the order. That left me scrambling to find something else for my son so he wouldn't be left disappointed. Completely unacceptable for busy parents who are already tight on time and are paying for an online service that failed to deliver. Do better Carter's. read more

Carter's is a great store for baby clothes, and always runs some sort of promotional discount sale. The manufacture, Carters, as a brand can be seen and found at other retailers outside of the Carter's stores, often times cheaper than at Carter's itself. There's also a Carter's outlet retailer with many locations. I like this location as it's convenient and has easy parking, so you can come here to buy gifts or items for your baby easily. read more

I got the confirmation email that my purchase has been received but I never got an email that my purchase was ready for pickup until I called Carter's corporate the next day (today) After numerous attempts of calling and trying to get a hold of Torrance Carter's, my calls never went through or I was put on hold as if someone just let the phone ring. The woman I spoke to at the corporate office said that my purchase has been ready since yesterday and she apologizes that I never got an email that it was ready. Torrance Carter's, you are the worse. Dropped by Saturday afternoon to grab a last minute bridal/baby shower gift and boy was I lucky! EVERYTHING in the store was 50% off!! Even clearance items were an additional 20% off! There were two tables of door buster deals of tees and shorts for only $6 (2t to 6x). I came here because this store's small. I wanted to make a quick purchase and leave right away, which I didn't have any problem doing. The store was clean and well organized. Lots of cute little outfits to pick out! I only wished there were more selections of unisex outfits. Only one rack in front of the store towards the left side. I must've came at a good time because I didn't think it was crowded, like someone else had mentioned. They still offer $10 off your next purchase if you spend $50 or more. The clothes here are cheap enough that I don't feel like I'm losing out by not hitting that amount. I thought the service was great. A sales lady did approach me to see if I needed assistance and my cashier offered me additional savings but I had already signed up for their email deals. There were plenty of parking spots and it was easy shopping here! I'd definitely come back whenever I need to shop for my friend's little ones. read more

I see I'm not the only one with a bad experience, the cashiers today in the AM blonde lady all tatted and younger Hispanic girl sucked. We asked about a pricing that was on a tag and the clearance sign and the blonde lady rudely said "no the sign says 8.99$ and up" ok that was one then when I'm ready to check out they are talking about their schedules and how to set up the next person and in standing there just waiting . Super helpful with exchanges! I have received a lot of Carter's kids clothing from relatives--some duplicates or the wrong size/season. The staff was super awesome about helping me exchange without a receipt. I did have to make an account with Carter's. The company policy is to issue store credit for you to use that day when you don't have a receipt for items, so be prepared to spend some time to browse the store to choose something else. Like another reviewer said, they are super patient and they made the exchange process simpler than I thought it would be. The store has a variety of selections for the season and a sale rack organized by size. I would definitely return to the store again! read more

I am a disabled mama, wheelchair user my entire life. 10/22 I Was in Carter's with my eldest daughter picking out clothes for my 2 younger children. We were profiled as potential shoplifters and followed throughout the store during our entire shopping experience. My 2 youngest were in the car with my husband while we went in cause it started sprinkling and he decided to stay behind. Were in the store and head to the back theres 2 elder ladies shopping i cant get by so i proceed to find something else. We're on boys side Im looking through the rack on the wall for my sons size I grabbed two pants, in hangers, looking around I find more on the level shelf, so I'm going through the stack on the shelf I get the size I need and I have my daughter put the pants back on the wall. Again, I'm on a wheelchair so I have the clothes on my lap. I also have my daughter helping look through the stacks because they're on the bottom and I can't get anything without dropping what I have. I had 3 tops and 3 pants on my lap at the point. I do make eye contact with an employee putting clothes away near us but i didn't think anything of it than that. Not once was I asked if we needed help finding anything I only got stared at. I then have my daughter push me through to the other side while I'm holding everything on my lap. as were passing the register counter I see all employees behind the counter looking at us. In passing i overhear the employees alerting each other saying "they're going to rob us," in Spanish. My daughter starts freaking out asking if I heard them. I asked her what she heard and she tells me, " they said, "they're going to rob us." Im thinking ok I heard that too, but why would I do that where am I gonna go it's raining with all this if it's falling off my lap? I said don't worry. We're on the girls side and Im looking around to see how to get through to the babies section because there's a guy with his smaller daughter and his wife with a stroller, trying to get her to move out of the way because they are heading to pay. I stood where I was so as not to rush them but the longer I stayed there the more I felt uncomfortable and I'd see the employee still lingering behind. Im looking through the pants and I see the matching tops on a level shelf but again I have no way to reach over or get through to see the set up where the tops are. I look behind me to go and the employee is right behind me. At this point I feel uncomfortable and I tell my daughter to go get my husband and to explain whats going on and that I need help. As im waiting Clothes were falling from my lap, and the guy still trying to call his daughter over to him, kindly helps me pick up the clothes. I proceed to put clothes back so i can leave the store. I wasn't interested in shopping there anymore. My husband comes in and the employee is gone. He asks if I had everything I needed and I said no but I just want to leave he takes what I had on my lap and insisted we get what I have and pay because our son did need warmer pants. we go pay, and The lady behind the register acknowledged us but kept us waiting as she continued there fiddling with the rack. She did stop what she was doing with the rack to help other customers before us but for us it a few min later she says someone will be coming to help us. There was a man in a suit there maybe the manager but he had his cell phone out, looking at my husband and so I'm thinking maybe she's keeping us here so he can call police. We paid and that was it. Never once did I have any intention of stealing from the store and never once was I asked if we needed help. I didn't have another way to carry the items. read more

Came in this morning , despite the recent negative reviews I took a chance to come in and shop here , As soon as I walked in , the girls at the register greeted me , while helping customers on the registers . Great selection very nice and tidy , a very welcomed environment making you feel good , the girls have a very positive attitude they help me out with a few questions and concerns I had , I can't complain , but I had a very good experience while shopping , while ringing they make conversation so you just don't stand there feeling awkward. I had my niece with me and you can tell that they enjoy having kids there , the lady Clara was playing and having baby talk with my niece while valerie was giving stickers to some little kid that was crying , while the other associate was ringing his mom up , SHOUT OUT THE THEM , Some people don't understand how it can be working retail specially in a pandemic , they go above and beyond !!! All us moms know Carter's. They have affordable clothes that our child can wear for 3 months or so. Cute, cheap and not made to last (at least the baby stuff). I love the cotton pajamas. My son is only 9 months, so I am still all about the cute animals on his bum. This is a five star review because Tatiana makes shopping here the best. She is superbly helpful and friendly. She remembered my hubby and I from our previous visit. I remember her because she was willing to go above and beyond the other sales lady by far. She has wonderful energy. It makes a huge difference in my shopping experience. I recommend calling and seeing when she is working if you want stellar service with a smile. read more

ALE Is very nice and very helpful, my husband is very hard to deal with he ask too many questions and can't decide on picking stuff for our baby, Ale did a great job helping and talking to him lol she's very patient. Clothes here starts from newborns to 8years old they have a couple of shoes too, try checking online too they match sales online or they can ship to you for free if they don't have the item. My relatives overseas know that this place is nearby, so they send me on expeditions to buy stuff for the kids. Carter's does sell cute stuff for younger kids, and the price is often very low. They play a lot of coupon games where you need to come back next month and spend $50, but the price is low enough that losing out on a discount isn't so much of an issue. I DO dread going to this store, though, because the service is abysmal. The store is overpacked, it's often a mess, no one seems willing to help, and clothes are often stacked precariously on tables so finding sizes is difficult. The worst part is when I get to the register and I either need to work at flagging someone down to check me out, or there are three people in line, the lady in front is trying to get her total up to $50 so she can use the coupon, and there's another worker there doing nothing... but she's not open. The clothes are cute for younger kids, the price is pretty inexpensive, the store is claustrophobic, and the service is a fail. read more

If you have children, you definitely own at least 10 Carter's items at any given time! This is the only Carter's store in the South Bay. It's located in a strip mall on Hawthorne near Del Amo. It has a great selection of all the essential and comfortable kid's gear you need from NB through age 8. We buy all of our fleece and cotton footed jammies from here, onesies and a lot of other clothes. The quality is good especially for pajamas and the styles are very cute and trendy. They often have deep discounts and coupons for up to 30% off. They offer a rewards program where you earn $10 for every $75 you spend and you can use the $10 reward to purchase an item as soon as the next day. You don't have to buy anything else - you can come in and just buy an item for $10 or less with your rewards. They have updated their system to make the rewards paperless now so no more worrying about losing receipts. Also, Carter's is EXCELLENT about returns. Receipts never expire and in fact, they have told me you do not even need a receipt to return items. As long as it is new and unused and was purchased from Carter's (as opposed to say the Carter's items that are sold at Costco or Target), they will return or exchange it for you. Of course, without the receipt you will get the lowest price, but it is still better than most other store's policies (I'm looking at you Gap Kids!). read more

I love Carter's. They have affordable, cute clothes for kids and although I don't think their regular prices are worth it, their sales are fabulous.(Yes, some of their clothes are waaaay too fluorescent and slightly hideous, but they also do have some really cute things) Anyways, this is a review for the Hawthorne store. I've visited the store a few times now, and every time have had very poor service. Today was the worst, by far. Staff are always difficult to find and have an "I don't care" attitude. I was returning 2 items today and buying a few more, and the girl on cash was downright rude. When I walked up to the counter with my things, she gave me a quick glance and continued to talk to her friend/co-worker for several minutes before she deigned to come over and ring my items through. Then, while never making eye-contact, she chided another employee for being behind the counter when she ought to be out on the floor - because "I can't since I'm stuck here doing this return". Wow. I almost waited until she'd done the 2 returns and walked out without buying anything. I should have. She finished ringing my things through, then continued to talk to her friend/co-worker while I stood there holding my credit card out for several minutes. As a final insult, she offered no response to my "thank you" as I left. Needless to say, I will not be back. Deals on kids' clothes can be found abundantly elsewhere. These girls need a stiff lesson on proper customer service along with basic manners. read more

Cashier was very rude and not at all helpful.. I had a coupon where you get 25% off if you spend $40 or more and my total was at $43 but the cashier was giving me crap about how she can't apply the coupon code until I reach $40... Like.. can you not read? After minutes of trying to show her I met the requirement she finally realized I was right and added the discount. No apology or anything but instead just gave me an annoyed look. She also wouldn't allow me to purchase a clearance set because the pants were missing.. I was still willing to buy it because I really liked it and it was the only one left. Won't be back here. Better off buying online. read more

Came in to buy my daughter some new pajamas and warmer clothes (to prep for the colder weather). As soon as I walked in I was greeted by all the staff. After a few minutes of looking, one of the associates came up to me and asked if I needed any help. I've been to different locations before but this specific location went above and beyond. Not only did the associate help me pick out outfits, but she also helped save me a few bucks. I will definitely continue to shop at this location. They give me 20% off coupons and the clothes are usually on sales for under $8 a piece. It's not unusual to see shirts for $2-3 each in the sale racks. The clothes are better quality than what you would find in Target or Old Navy in my opinion. My son is growing like a weed, so I appreciate the price point. The clothes are cute as well. read more

Pro: great prices for good quality baby clothes, but similar prices can be found elsewhere Pro: located in strip mall with very easy parking. Con: Very unfriendly bare-bones staff (usually just one visible person in the entire store, who is standing at the check register chatting on the cell phone or texting). Con: Much of the clothing is hung up on the walls up to the ceiling, so that it is way high beyond reach. The staff doesn't bother to help you get it down. Con: Beyond about age 12 months, at least for boys, the clothes are too cutesy and generic - i.e., big loud primary-colored motifs with cars and dinosaurs. Lots of 100% polyester PJs - difficult to find cotton ones. read more

This is a great store for the most part. The employees are very nice, however, per their return policy-if you return new items without a receipt be prepared to use the money right away. They will not issue gift cards anymore. It was a huge inconvenience because I had someone watch my kids for only 30 minutes just to return my items. We usually like Carter's, but unfortunately the in store experience today was unacceptable. I came into the store because I saw a sale online and when I got to the register the girl helping me couldn't figure out how to give me the discount from the website. The sale was 25% off $40 or more in store or online. She said she could only figure out how to give me 15% off. I asked if there was anyone else who could help me, perhaps a manager might now how to get the code or possibly honor the sale by giving the discount without the code. The girl at the register informed me that she was the manager and she would not be honoring the sale unless I found a way to get the code from the website. You would think that with most business going to online shopping the in store manager would want to keep customers coming back. Why would I shop in store when the website will give me better deals and treat me better. :-/ Disappointed to say the least. read more

Very nice clothing and great prices. Sorry if you're not white get your ID ready before you're asked to do so by the cashier. I saw that happened today when a white couple used a debit card without being asked to show their ID. A black mom directly after them was asked to show an ID when she used her debit card.
