I don't know what's up with all the bad reviews?!? We saw Rochelle tonight and she did a great job. I saw her clean her tools, floor and chair prior to cutting my sons hair. We showed her a photo of what we wanted. She listened asked a couple clarifying questions and then asked what my son would like to watch on TV. Rochelle did a great job praising my son, working quickly and efficiently and when she was done cutting asked us if we had any changes we would like made and then showed us a couple ways to style his hair. My husband and I left really happy. Haircut was $17 and we ended up buying the product (specially designed for toddlers hair). Overall great experience, don't let the terrible old reviews sway you from giving it a try! read more

We had been going to another place to get our kids' haircuts, and had some pretty bad cuts. We decided to try Kids' Hair and immediately noticed a difference. We have two boys now, and I am very particular about how the haircut looks. All of the "stylists" (don't want to call them employees) have so receptive and interactive with my requests for their haircuts, and have done fantastic jobs with the haircuts! We just had cuts done yesterday and the day after we are raving about how great the haircuts look! Our 1 year old just got his first "short cut" and it looks great! My wife and I both agree that our 3 year old's cut was the best looking cut he's ever had! We will be back for every haircut!! read more

We have always taken our daughter to Kid's Hair and we have always had very good results. Today was no different but the situation was certainly different. Our daughter had gotten some Bunchems (a devil spawn building toy) stuck in her hair and we thought that she was going to have to have them cut out and she would have a very disfiguring haircut until it grew back out. We walked in and explained the situation to Katarina who did the actual cutting, and Chloe another young lady that was cutting hair in the shop. They were very sympathetic and very good about getting the toys out of her hair. The receptionist was also very sweet and everyone did their best to make our daughter feel better about a potentially emotional situation! Her haircut is FANTASTIC and they charged a very reasonable fee. Just another reason to keep coming back!!!!! read more

We saw Alex T. at the Maple Grove, MN salon. What a terrible experience. He was gruff, loud, unprofessional, rough, and had no customer service skills. He DEFINITELY should not be working in a CHILDREN'S salon. He didn't introduce himself to my daughter, talk to her, or interact with her at all. He didn't explain what he was doing, or even warn her before spraying her with water (she is 2. This should be basic knowledge when working with kids). Worst of all, he was ROUGH with her. He was not gentle in combing her hair at all. She had a few snarles, and he pulled at her hair to get them out. He jerked her chair around roughly without warning. He didn't ask her what she wanted to watch on the TV. The only positive part of the day was when he gave her a sicker. We went out of our way to go to a Children's salon so she would have a good experience. It was the worst hair experience I've ever had. I would have complained if he was MY stylist, but it is so much worse that he works with children. We will never be back, and will make sure to tell others not to bother. We would be much better off going to a salon by our house. read more

Kid's Hair is located off of main street, across from Five guys. We walked in with our four year old without an appointment and only had to wait about five minutes. There were only two employees working, but both we're friendly, quick and good with kids. Each hair cutting station has its own tv, playing either Tangled or Madagascar. They've got toys in the lobby area that kids can play with while waiting. They also sell some toys. My kid was happy with his haircut, so that's the most important thing. read more

I got $4 off his first hair cut, so I only paid $12! They're very friendly and the place is great for kids. I took my son on his birthday for his first haircut, on Tuesday Feb. 3rd. I called ahead to ask about walk-in appointments and she was able to schedule an appointment set for 30 minutes after I called. She recommended appointments so I didn't have to wait. We went in and the thing that wasn't too appealing to me was that there was only one stylist there, which is possibly because it was on a Tuesday morning. She was also running the counter too. Anyways, we chose a small mowhawk style and she was so good with my son. He didn't cry one bit and he sat still the whole time, which is a big deal for a one-year old. They had a TV and bubbles at each station to distract the kids, which worked well. The reason I gave this place 4 stars is because there was only one staff member, so when others came in I felt like she rushed to get my son's hair done so she could help the other customers, and didn't do as well as she could have. I felt like it was not very fair because I had an appointment so she should have took her time. Another thing is that she used a small buzzer to do his line up, and she made it very crooked which kind of made me upset. On the bright side, it's a great place to get a first haircut because they gave us a little certificate with a bit of his hair in it to cherish his first haircut! read more

I have been here 3 times and my son a total of four times. We had great haircuts by the same stylist 3 times. Could not have asked for a better experience! The other time we had a very good stylist but just didn't have the same knack for getting my 2.5 year old cooperating, but I was still very impressed! We have had to wait no more than 5 minutes any time we have been there. I can understand what the negative reviews mention, but I empathize with someone who has patience to work with arguably the most volatile clientele! That said, I've never experienced any negative issues. (Aside from the negative experiences the other customers were causing the very professional staff- wow people! Verbal tips do not pay the bills! I've been to this salon a few times and had wonderful experiences. But this time we had Alex T. and I don't recommend him for young children! My son is 2 and Alex didn't do anything to help ease his fear or frustration with his haircut. At the end I asked if he could trim the bangs more straight and he was resistant because my son wasn't cooperating. Not caring in anyway, held his head like a football when trimming around his ears! I wanted to cry because of the way he had no respect for me or my child. Do not go to Alex T. unless your child is use to haircuts!!! read more

Normally, we have had good experiences here. Today, not so much. I'll never understand why people who don't enjoy working with kids go into jobs where they will exclusively work with kids. Or people that get into jobs working with kids that aren't able to leave their bad mood at home. Kids can sense negative energy and it scares them. Crystal --had kinda crazy pink hair and scary make up -- checked us in without greeting us by saying hello. You could see she was clearly not wanting to be there today. (First impression) I thought to myself, wheh! Shes obviously in a bad mood! Thank god she's just the receptionist! We've had Jessica cut my son's hair before and she'd done a great job and has the personality that works at a kids salon. The pink haired gal named Crystal says, come on back! Ugh. Crap. How do you back out of a situation like this? Don't be Minnesota nice like I was and just hope for the best. She asked me what I'd like to have her do and I described it as I have dozens of times in the past: shorter on the back and sides and longer on top. She immediately seemed annoyed that I didn't know the electric razor number to use on him. She grabs my sons head and shoves it down in a passive aggressive way and says with a fake sugary voice, "look down at your toes for me hon." She pulls out an adult sized electric razor--which is intimidating to most kids, and goes to town. Right away, I can see she has jacked up the back of his hair. He has a pronounced colic. Most stylists that are skilled know not to cut a colic short -- it sticks up. My son started reacting to her aggressive moves of his head and apathy towards his distress and she seemed to catch herself for just a second. It was like she suddenly realized she was working with a kid, but it was too late. My son was upset--whining and squirming to get out of the chair and she did little to try to distract him from his fears and tears. We finished up finally and she didn't thank us or say goodbye. Asian guy cut my sons hair. He was super rude to my wife, did not clean hair from previous kids haircut, hair cut is not even. Will never be back. Worst $19 spent for my kid. If you need a good hair cut place, go to snipits by Costco- 100 times better customer service and much more hygienic staff. read more

I'm confused by the negative reviews, as we've had nothing but awesome service at this location. The staff are super friendly and we never have to wait past our scheduled time. How they manage to distract a squirming 3-year old while giving him a stylish clean cut is beyond me. She was the only one there, the phone started ringing and instead of asking if she could answer and come back, she rushed and took literally 2 minutes, and she's like all done. Great place to take my daughter for her first haircut! There was a little toy area to keep her occupied while we waited. Our stylist was quick and efficient, which is necessary with a squirmy toddler. I have noticed the cut was a little uneven, but I suppose that's to be expected somewhat when working with kids! Also extremely reasonably priced - only $12.50 with a "first haircut" coupon. I will definitely be back for her future haircuts. read more

Have been to Kids hair in Maple grove and Minnetonka many times before. Took my daughter for her hair cut last week at the Maple grove location. Had Alex T as our hair stylist. We were the only ones at the salon around noon on a Friday. The floors and works stations were dirty.. covered in hair clipping and used scissors. The garage bins were over flowing. Alex T was unfriendly and had zero enthusiasm while working with my daughter. Did not offer her a braid, sticker or suckers for her perfect behave. Alex got annoyed with me when I asked if the scissors he wanted to used in my daughter were clean. He was more interested in watching the cartoon on at his work station when cutting my kids hair and talking to me. Avoid Alex T and perhaps the Maple grove location since it's dirty. Great experiences at the Minnetonka Kids hair before. Alex doesn't know how to behave with small kids and would be better suited working at a prison... read more

We've had two appointments with kids hair and both were wonderful experiences. Both times I called ahead and made an appointment and got right in in time. Both stylists were great, both with hair and with my son. We're usually in and out in less than 20 minutes and my son always looks great afterwards and loves picking out his lollipop after, too. read more

I had an appointment today at 10am, and I arrived in the parking lot at 9:58. By the time I took out both of my kids and walked to the door it was 9:59. The door was locked, and the woman inside just stared at me. It was 15 degrees out and pretty windy outside. I had a baby in my arms and my appointment was suppose to begin in 1 min. The woman inside opened the door right at 10am, and I made a comment about how they should open the door a few mins early especially in the winter. The woman immediately got an attitude, and then I told her I was going to go somewhere else. As I was leaving she shouted at me, "you could just sit in your car." I got there 1 min early for an appointment that was suppose to start at 10. If you aren't going to open the doors until the time my appointment is suppose to start then my appointment isn't really starting at that time. I was ONE MINUTE early! How incredible rude! You definitely lost a customer. read more
