The only ticket that was $0 was for kids under 1 year old. My toddler was not. For the 3 of us it was $45 which I thought was a bit much. They also have annual memberships starting at $120. That may be something to consider if you plan to visit the museum multiple times. There was a Lunar New Year celebration at the museum today so we went to check it out. They had a museum wide lion dance parade as well as activities for the kids which included: Kung fu moves demo, ribbon dance workshop, calligraphy, and storytime with Author Michele Wong McSween of "Gordon and Li Li: Celebrate Chinese New Year. We also got to meet City Council member, Susan Zhang who had a booth there. Our little one enjoyed the lion dances and the exhibits as well as walking outside on the 2nd floor outdoor area. I'm looking forward to bringing her here again for other events. Things to consider - it did get a bit crowded because of the event and also the cafe that served food was alright. They ran out of some food items and the quantity of the food they were giving for the prices was not okay. I'll be bringing my own food for my toddler and us next time. Otherwise, it was a fun day for the family.

I guess I was hoping for more because we went through all the exhibits very quickly. My son (2 year old) ended up playing downstairs in the water/sand area the most, but even still that wasn't much. Better off making the trek to Manhattan or Long Island!

Big bathrooms , could be a bit cleaner. The women's bathroom was temporarily closed when I went so I made my hubby escort me to the men's . There's a tiny book library at the entrance of the park, perfect for borrowing one and laying under the trees for a read.

On a cold winter weekend, my commute from here to Queens on two buses and a train came a total of 2…read morehours. Why would I do such a thing? Because the Parks Department holds a bunch of free classes and events all over this city, and some of the really cool ones are in its more remote locations! I signed up for a compass reading and orienteering class. I was the only one who showed up, so I got a private ranger led tour of the park by two handsome bearded park rangers, Teddy and Patrick. You're freaking missing out! You can sign up for a by-borough weekly newsletter from the Parks Department about these tours and classes (like camp cooking, fire making, tree identification, etc.). I can see why this park doesn't do it for some people, but I'm going to share why I love it. For one thing, it packs a lot into a small space. A skate park, two large playgrounds, a bike/jogging lane, multiple ball fields and basketball courts, the largest series of workout stations I've ever seen (including some that are handicap accessible- in fact the whole park is), clean bathrooms, more trash cans than I've seen in any park, and a more wild area that leads off to a beach where you get a wide expanse of water and sky. If you close your eyes, the din of cars on the Belt Parkway almost sounds like waves. Other than that, the planes are all you hear, but the remoteness is still worth experiencing even with those city sounds. For another, the park contains marshland that helps protect NYC from flooding during storms. Much like New Orleans, we need this land too, even though a lot of people don't think of swampy places with much fondness. The restoration of this site honors the land for what it is and the job it's doing, and has paths around the marshland so you can see the wildlife that thrive there. We saw geese, crows, sparrows, ducks, a praying mantis nest, oak trees, Kentucky Coffee trees, Hawthorne trees (they look like Christmas holly!), and something I kept calling "pink lemonade trees" because apparently that's what their berries taste like. Finally, it's quiet, at least in the cold. All afternoon on a Saturday, the skate park was the most active place. The playgrounds and ball fields were quiet, a few dog walkers and roller bladers here and there but for the most part I had the place to myself. In the summer I hear a lot of people come out to BBQ. The whole neighborhood was quiet, very family oriented. Get out and explore your city! :)

This chapter in my life is increasing financial freedom, so I eliminated the monthly gym membership for a community membership of $50 every 6 months . You can't beat that ! Brownsville Rec center membership access includes access to a gym, fitness classes, skill development classes, and etc . This center also offers sign language and french classes. I would love to learn a new language outside the norm . But as I'm increasing my financial freedom journey, I'm also increasing my fitness journey with now being a member of Brownsville Recreation Center . The location is also close to a train station which is convenient and 20 mins from my house . The only reason why I have the center 4 starts is because of no pool access at the moment . It's in process and some fitness equipment needs updating however I know how to work around it . Great resource for the community .

You will see a place that's hidden in plain sight with all the offerings of being on a horse by or in the water! Typically I would venture to DR or Grand Cayman for such an experience but now that I found this priceless venue close to home I have to rethink flying away for it. Tony Danza (not the actor) set it up in the 70s and hosts beginners and advanced riders equally. The facility has indoors and outdoors accommodations no matter your skill level. For first time riders you will be guided through greenery until you reach the beach walk and then back again through a beautiful setting. Who knew this place was so accessible from home! The staff is warm, friendly, and knowledgeable. If you live in the area and always wanted to ride this is your place with approachable fees even to board a horse. I had a pleasure of chatting with Tony and he briefed me on the history of the place. I have been a few times already and can't wait to return.

Thanks again for such an authentic and fun trail ride well deff be back!
