Lunch bento box with spicy tuna roll, shrimp tempura with mango roll, and lunch specials add ons
Sara E.

Good for a work lunch! Fast service in house and for pickup. Indoors is fine, it's not upscale but it's decent. Lunch specials are an excellent deal, generous portions come with extras (miso soup, egg roll, crab Rangoon, side salad). The lunch special sushi is a mixed bag of- loved the spicy tuna, did not enjoy fresh mango draped over shrimp tempura (so weird). Thai lunch specials are your classics and you can choose your spiciness level. Pad see yew was great, imo. Overall, fast, generous, not crazy overpriced, perfect for work lunch but not a dinner destination.

The goat Thai spot literally a block from my new apartment, couldn't ask for more. When I saw curry puff on menu, I knew legit. Pad thai (they have 11 spice levels, 3 enough) amazing Coco bun (unreal) Salmon foo (a special, interesting and good but I honestly didn't know what it was ha, recommend though) Mango sticky rice - blue, what?! So good Will be back daily to try all.

Authentic Thai flavor and good value for money. It's a beautiful space, and I'd recommend eating in over takeout here. I got lunch takeout here and ordered it at the counter. It was ready within 10 minutes! Super fast. Their lunch special is a bit pricey but includes a lot: entree, soup, salad, a crab Rangoon. My total came to just under $21. Food: - Spicy eggplant: they were not kidding about it being spicy. It cleared my sinuses within the first five bites. I was really struggling to taste the flavor through the spice and I think I have an okay spice tolerance. I think I'd probably give this place five stars if I'd ordered something different but I gave up on eating this dish about 70% in because it was so painful. The ambiance of the interior looks so nice I wish I'd had the time to sit in. It looked pretty empty when I swung by during lunch hour, so you could totally do walk in then. I'll have to come back and try something else next time!

We finally checked out Kiin Thai Sushi after hearing it opened recently--and it totally exceeded our expectations. We went for a weekday lunch and were seated right away, which was a great start. It had a chill casual vibe, good for talking. They have a huge menu. We kicked things off with the coconut soup ($8). It was wonderfully creamy, packed with generous pieces of shrimp, and absolutely perfect for a cold, gloomy day. For entrées, we shared the chirashi don ($26). We were a little nervous they might skimp on the sashimi, but it came with 10 thick, juicy, fresh slices. We also tried the pad see ew with beef ($14). The portion was solid, though the flavor leaned a bit flat compared to the other dishes. The star of the meal ended up being the mango sticky rice ($9). The presentation alone made us excited, and the taste delivered even more. The rice was perfectly chewy and sweet, pairing so well with the fresh mango. Overall, a great lunch spot with a couple of standout dishes--and we'll definitely be back for more!

Hotate Volcano

This place is a gem and I felt transported to Thailand with the authentic flavors and dishes. Walking in, it felt like an upscale Thai restaurant. The decor was refined and the dim lights set the mood for a wonderful meal between two friends. My friend and I ordered multiple dishes and we would happily order it again. The Hor Mok was an aromatic custard - it was fluffy and filled with crab - it was like a seafood soufflé! I thought this was unique and delicious. We also loved the Had Yai Fried Chicken. The chicken had a crispy skin and the chicken meat was delicious. It is paired with a sticky rice and sweet chili sauce. The presentation was also fantastic. Additionally, we ordered the Pad See Ew which was stir fried flat noodles with mixed vegetables. We added tofu and they did not skimp on this protein. We also ordered the Hotate Volcano. It was packed with scallops and cheese, it was everything! We arrived a few minutes past 6PM, but the restaurant offers happy hour! I believe 3-6PM. I would definitely come back to try this offering. The food is delicious, the staff is amazing, and the quality and price is just right. Plenty of street parking available, no issues with getting seated immediately on a Thursday evening.

Steamed Lime Fish

I was very happy with this meal! The steamed lime fish is EXCELLENT. It's served in a fish-shaped dish and the visual presentation is lovely, though the dish is shallow so it's a bit hard to scoop the garnish and sauce or flip the fish without worrying about everything spilling over the edges. I've had steamed fish many times before, but this was my first time trying it cooked with Southeast Asian flavors. The fish fell right off the bones, and it was tender and juicy - plus, there was an additional bowl of sauce just in case you wanted to add more. The contraption that the dish comes on was new to me, but the server was happy to walk us through it. We also ordered the Thai fried rice, which I really enjoyed. The rice itself was very flavorful, though the veggies and tofu were slightly more bland. The roti massaman curry was a good starter, though not a stand-out. The roti is standard, while the curry is a lot more than you'd be able to finish with just the roti. We had some with rice as well, which was quite flavorful and pleasant (though maybe not intended!). This is an upscale dining spot, with intimate lighting and a quiet ambiance. I've heard good things about the sushi here, so I'll have to come back. To be honest, I'm not sure how it can top the Thai dishes - but I'm excited to give it a try!

Beautiful detailed decor. This place has a lovely setup and bar. Service was excellent and helpful staff. The food was delicious. We were there for some valentine day specials. Everything was super!

The decor inside is nice. It's a great layout and well designed. Service was on point. The place wasn't too busy so the staff was very attentive. The important part... the food. An interesting mix of Japanese and Thai. The sushi was OK but not great. I wouldn't pick my sushi night for this place. Of course, it's not bad, but some of the nigiri pieces just seem to have a random thing on top.. like a dab of mayo or a splash of something. It just felt like an afterthought for presentation and didn't add anything to taste... in some cases making it worse. Overall it's a decent mix of rolls as well. The rolls were decent and I would get those again. The thai food was very good. Roti with curry was a great appetizer. The fried prawns in tamarind sauce was the best by far. I would come back for the Thai food. You should come here. Try the sushi and the Thai food. I would say it's a great spot because it's sort of on the edge of Cambridge which means isn't less hectic for pedestrian traffic and cars.

Came on a Sunday evening and enjoyed a great meal. Standouts were the Roti Masaman Curry and Kiin Roll. I also had a Thai Iced Tea, which was nice and refreshing. The ambience is nice but with the door left open, there were a lot of bugs flying around. I would definitely come back to try out more of their menu, but wouldn't sit by the windows/door.

Welcome appetizer for soft opening

The newest restaurant to open in East Cambridge. They are having their soft opening this week and I was excited to try their food. Immediately you notice the beautiful interior and decor. When we were seated we were welcomed with a complimentary appetizer for their soft opening which was so nice. Food: I got two appetizers to share with my partner and we split the Ancient chicken masaman curry which was definitely plenty. Their portions are generous and a great place to order different items and share. Also their cocktails are so yummy and under $15 which is so refreshing to see nowadays. Service: The food always came out in a timely manner. Our server was also very kind. For their soft opening they offered a 10% discount which was a pleasant surprise. Overall, I am so excited this place has finally opened and am excited to go again to try other items on their menu. The next time you are in East Cambridge definitely check them out. There is metered parking nearby, parking garages, and close to the Lechmere line! You gotta go!

The decor is very upscale and food came out quickly. I enjoyed the shrimp chips they had on the table. We had the place to ourselves for lunch. The beef Pad see ew generous beef portion and came out piping hot.

Kiin Thai Sushi offers a beautifully decorated interior, with lush plants and flowers creating a dim and beautiful ambience. We ordered the Hotate Volcano, Kiin Roll, and Pad Sew Ew with beef. Everything arrived steaming hot and with lots of flavor. The Hotate Volcano was smaller than expected and felt more like a dish designed for presentation rather than portion size, especially considering its price. All the food was delicious regardless. The staff was so kind and attentive! Even though we came in close to closing time, they were incredibly accommodating and welcoming. Great place for a flavorful meal in a gorgeous setting!

Fish cakes were small and perfectly uniform - almost like they were frozen rather than prepared on site. Green curry had some spice but was mostly one note, there just wasn't much depth of flavor. Vegetables were all cut in huge hunks - both dishes had giant pieces of red bell peppers and onions. Fried rice was pretty bland and barely had any Chinese broccoli in it. Ambiance was bare bones - you order at the counter and they bring you your food and plastic side plates. Half the tables were stacked with boxes and bags of takeout orders. To top it off there's no bathroom, we were told to use the bathroom at another local business. If I'm gonna spend $60 somewhere, I expect to be able to wash my hands before eating and use the restroom. Perhaps there are some specialty dishes that we didn't try but this was my 2nd time ordering from here (I got take out once before) and both times the food was pretty bland. A truly underwhelming experience - especially when there are so many better restaurants in the area.

Our favorites were the Mussels in Red Curry Rice Wine, Red Curry Bolognese, Massaman Beef Burger, and Mango Sticky Rice. Each packed with flavor and executed beautifully. The Thai Iced Tea was also excellent, while the Thai Ice Espresso Martini just wasn't for me. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, and the restaurant itself was clean, cozy, and inviting. The only downsides were that they had run out of their sourdough brioche buns, which I was excited to try, and reservations were tough to get as we had to book about a month in advance. Even so, it's easy to see why this place is so popular. I'll definitely be back and hopefully try some of the burgers with those sourdough buns next time.

Now, I suspect this might due in part because of the hype + location + thai/american fusion flavor, but even with a reservation we still ended up waiting about 30 minutes to be seated. Unfortunately, the service throughout dinner wasn't much better. Between the three of us, we ordered the scallion fries (which, for anyone wondering, aren't actually fries tossed in scallion oil or dressing), the fried calamari, the red curry Bolognese, the green curry pasta with steak, and, of course, the much-hyped Massaman burger. The fried calamari was probably the weakest dish. It had a fishier taste than I expected, and the breading was fairly greasy and tended to fall off. The scallion fries were good, though not especially memorable. Of the entrées, we preferred the green curry pasta over the red curry Bolognese, though both became a little heavy after a while. The Massaman burger was solid, but not quite the standout I was hoping for. Across the dishes, our biggest takeaway was that the curry sauces all leaned fairly rich and salty without much contrast. A little acidity or citrus would have gone a long way in brightening the flavors. Overall, Black Ruby was good, just not quite as memorable as I expected. Nothing we ordered really wowed us, but it's still a perfectly solid spot if you're in the area. I'd be open to coming back, though I'd probably try some different items if we were ever around Harvard Square.

One friend is a regular and she got her usual entree with a bunch of substitutions to accommodate her food intolerances (poor thing!), and the staff was very kind as usual. Another friend got the duck which is her favorite dish (she was happy with it!). I got spicy green beans and chicken and it was very flavorful and just the perfect level of spicy for me. Two of us ordered the hot sake (it's in the teens today!). The hot sake is actually a nicer brand than you sometimes get. It had a nice clean finish and maybe went down a little too easily! The best part about our dinner was that the staff let us stay and chat for hours without rushing us out. It was not a crowded evening being so cold but it was a very pleasant experience. My family has been coming to noodle market since we first bought our home in town in 2018. It's our go to place for pho when someone is sick.
