Only had a few days to explore New York and decided to check out this matcha spot after seeing it on social media. We got a couple items to try but I only got the picture of the peach fizz matcha which I think is a seasonal drink! This drink was good but the matcha flavor wasn't as strong as the other drinks that we got. The mango matcha here is amazing! I think they don't have it at their other location so we got really lucky to be able to try it. The mango matcha is a 10/10 with the perfect balance of matcha to mango and wasn't too sweet either. The strawberry matcha is also amazing and so is their sesame latte! Got a salmon and tuna onigiri to try too and they were pretty solid, well salted and a decent amount of filling in each. The seating is very limited in here but I got lucky that someone was leaving as I came in. This place is very popular because there was always a line for the entire ~2 hours that I spent there. The best matcha place in town!!!! I've always wanted to go here and certainly have to say that I will be back. We got their iced strawberry matcha latte, which has the perfect creamy texture with a distinct, high-quality matcha taste. Also, we decided to try their seasonal menu item - iced mango matcha latte, which tasted phenomenal. The service was amazing where the cashier took our orders promptly and the wait was not too long. Many people were in the cafe doing work although the space was pretty crammed and small. Adorable is an understatement. Not only does the cat theme amp up this quaint and cozy japanese cafe, the drinks here will knock your socks off. Please get the strawberry matcha latte, it's quite the best ive had in the city because their puree is 10/10. Baristas are super sweet and bring the food + drinks to you. Matcha is decent, it's batched not freshly whisked but the flavor still comes through in the milk when I get it unsweetened. Their strawberry syrup is still delicious but the ratio with matcha in their specialty drinks is a bit off. Also the banana bread tastes very odd. Baristas are not the friendliest. I would not recommend the lavender milk tea; basically drinking sweet milk with lavender as decorative topping. Doubt the lavender flowers have that flavor, likely lavender syrup. I enjoyed the mango matcha and would rate it 4/5. The mango and matcha paired beautifully together and was creamy and rich -- a flavor combo I'd love to try again! The matcha peach fizz however was a let down, a 1/5. It was very strong and had an off putting taste. We weren't into this flavor combination at all. Overall, I would love to come to Kijitora again if I were nearby as they have many interesting sounding drinks. We came on a Friday afternoon, and it wasn't too busy, but the space was very small. I don't think I would come here to study because I'm a little claustrophobOrdered three types of Onigiri- cod, miso salmon, and the Chasu pork. I think the barista heard wrong and accidentally gave us the seaweed. We requested a change, and were given the correct order in less than 5 minutes. The matcha latte was rich, and not grainy. It was sweetened already, and was a little sweeter than what I preferred, but still a solid latte. 8/10 :) My issue is the Onigiri. They put in almost no filling, and I didn't taste any strong flavor in my salmon. (3/10) My friend ordered the Cod Onigiri and was satisfied with the taste, and amount of filling. He rated it a solid 7/10. My other friend tried the chasu pork, and also complained of the scarce amount of filling. He also did not find the seasoning of pork particularly interesting either. Rated it a 2.5/10 If I'm ever back in the area, I wouldn't try the Onigiri, but would instead order a drink. Their drinks sounded really good! read more

Also had a mentaiko (cod roe) onigiri was good and surprisingly mildly spicy, and an iced sakura oat milk. Delicious! If you want a quiet cafe with ample seating, avoid coming here. The bummer is there is always food on the floor and since the floor is dark, guess that stands out and especially when you're sitting at the slat tables. See pic.
