The food is always amazing, the portions are very generous, and the service has consistently been great every time I visit. The combination of Chinese and Peruvian flavors is comforting, flavorful, and absolutely hits the spot. Come hungry you will not leave disappointed! Alas! I get to try a popular recommended Peruvian restaurant & boy was I not surprised that there was no parking, the inside dining was full and was in line for take-out! It's on a main street which I find can be quite frustrating when desiring parking, especially when hungry. I decided to try their small size shrimp & chicken chaufa, a small duck soup, an alfajore & their special homemade Peruvian chocolates. The generous portion of a small sized chaufa awed me. I was able to take 2 lunches out of that! I was hoping to have large sized devined shrimp and pieces of tender chicken, but instead got small shrimp & mini cubes of what appeared to be on the dry side perhaps because it was from the breast. Besides that & being a bit oily, I still enjoyed the flavor of their chaufa! The duck soup called Pato Especial is surprisingly better than it looks. Unfortunately because of how small a small chinese container is, I got only a small duck portion, veggies and soup. If I were to dine in, this would likely be a main of mine to try. The duck is seasoned in what reminds me of the Chinese style, it's like roasted with that particular flavor & has a toast crunch on the skin. Wow. Along with the soup & veggies, it's just so0o warm & comforting. I really could eat this often. This was definitely my highlight. Alfajore is a never ending love. Their alfajore is an enjoyable portion which I greatly appreciate with a caramel that was soft & creamy! I haven't seen that! Maybe because it was still warm & loved it that way. Lastly was the chocolates, I was explained that they are 2 kinds, one fruits and another with a nut (if I'm not mistaken). It wasn't my favorite because both the milk chocolate & the white chocolate tasted like those easily melted chocolate wafers. I think the concept would be much improved with quality chocolate... For a time Jaimito's was one of my parents' favorite restaurants. For that reason we were there about every other week. Then, for some reason, we found the food to be a little inconsistent (too salty or even too bland at times). We decided to come back the other week and I'm glad we did. My family each ordered pollo con chaufa (chicken and fried rice) and I knew I'd end up eating what they couldn't finish so I went with tallarines verdes (green noodles). We also got a side of fried yuca (cassava). Yuca fries are great. They have nice crunchy outside with a softer filling. There's a hint of saltiness that keeps you eating them. I enjoy dipping them in a mixture of green sauce and mayonnaise. The green noodles are like the Peruvian version of pasta with pesto. I'm a big fan of pesto so naturally I really enjoyed this dish. My family wasn't as impressed; -shrugs- oh well, more for me. Now the chicken is some of the best chicken I've ever had, regardless of cooking style. The meat is moist and flavorful all around (yes, even the breast). Pair the chicken with the green sauce and it's even better. The chaufa (fried rice) is just as flavorful as the chicken. I suspect they use some of the chicken drippings in the rice to really get some taste. I would be satisfied eating the rice alone. We've tried a handful of other dishes here but it's the pollo con chaufa that keeps us coming back. read more

I've ordered fried rice from here several times and every time it's great. They have beef, chicken and shrimp fried rice. The ceviche is also good but the mazamorra with rice pudding was delicious. Can't blame them for being a popular eatery in a neighborhood with no parking. Took a few spins around a few blocks but landed a space within walking distance. Wait staff were all very nice and helpful in ordering from the menu. Every item came to the table steaming hot and freshly made. Loved the wonton soup. Lomo Saltado nicely seasoned with a side of green (verde) sauce for an extra kick, if desired. House special fried rice and side of white beans, balanced off the order. I had them prepare a half chicken to go, which comes with fried rice or steak fries. Bill came to just under $100 with tip; a bit pricey, but we definitely got all and more for what we paid for. Dining in is a bit risky, especially if they are busy. I counted 6 tables that seated 4. But take-out seems to be a common practice among many! My husband and I stopped by for an early last minute dinner. We wanted to eat there. We noticed everyone coming in was picking up. The service was great. The food was great. But it will definitely be the last we'll go there. We were given a menu, we ordered 2 Lomo de Carne, one with extra meat. The menu price was $17 extra meat either $3 or $5. We weren't ask. And 2 drinks, that's it, and this was $60.81. When I reviewed the menu each Lomo was charged at $20 plus $6 for the Extra meat PLUS THEY CHARGED A 7.5% gratuity!!!!!!!!!! It was only 2 of us. Absolutely ridiculous. Never again. Mu husband was so upset but we paid and left. Money isn't the issue, because we have it but such a rip off. People should be charged the price on the MENU!!!! read more

The food here is incredible. I came hear for dinner with two people. We split a large wonton soup, which was one of the best soups I have ever had. It has cabbage, some chopped bok choi, pieces of pork and amazing dumplings. The broth was light and very flavorful. I was incredibly surprised with the amazing taste of the soup. For my meal, I ordered the 1/2 rotisserie chicken with fried rice. The chicken was delicious and the fried rice was one of the best I've ever had. It was seasoned perfectly, generous with the fried eggs, and cooked to perfection. The management was a little off when I was there because they were out of plantains and were short on chicken. However, the restaurant was about to close for three weeks because the owners were going on vacation, which explains the low inventory. I also had to wait 20 minutes for my chicken, but they did let me know ahead of time that it would be a while, and the chicken tasted fresh. And the food was so good, which makes it easier to look over some kinks in the service. I can't wait to go back to this place. read more

This Peruvian/Chinese fusion restaurant is not large or glamorous by any means. I used to easily pass by this place all the time. This is definitely one of those hole in the wall restaurants. However, the food here is delicious. Due to the restaurant being small, the place can get very busy on the nights and weekends. So be mindful, as there are only 9-12 tables here with a few of them that only sit 2 people. If you do have to wait though, it should not be too long. As for the food I can safely say that the Peruvian/Chinese style of fried rice made is the most delicious type of typical fried rice that I have eaten. The rice is very flavorful, and the beef fried rice is my favorite. Many of the other chicken and beef platters are very good, as the servings are very generous and the sauce is well-made. You will also get a side of Aji sauce, which is a Peruvian spicy sauce (peppers and jalapeno tasting), so you can add this on your dishes for spicy food lovers. Let me also say that the soups are delicious as well. The wonton soup I ordered one time was full of flavor, with wontons, chicken, shrimp, and even some duck in it. With this place being a hole in the wall place, parking is either the side street or the lot near the restaurant that is for a mini-mart. If you have a low car though, do not park in that lot or your front bumper will hate you when you go into the lot. read more

"Chifa" is Chinese/Peruvian fusion cuisine whose origins can be traced to the influx of Chinese immigrants to Peru (chiefly Lima) in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Fusion fried rice and variations on wonton soups and hot pots with rich chicken stocks are examples of this food tradition. Jaimito's is principally a Peruvian eatery with some Chifa offerings. I went for the traditional Peruvian shrimp and conch Ceviche ($13.95) -- which was perfectly marinated in citrus, with yams and potatoes underneath and a scattering of red onions and fried corn kernels for texture. Enough for two and excellent. The wonton/chicken/duck soup ($7.95) with Napa cabbage had a deep poultry flavor and the duck meat was tender and richly flavored, but overall, too salty for my tastes -- almost like eating bouillon cubes. But the green salsa served with the meal was some of the best I've had -- they even sell it to take out as a condiment. Plenty hot but filled with that oniony, garlicky and acid flavor that makes everything you slather with it -- pop. The rest of the menu is loaded with all the usual Latino suspects like chicharon, flank steak, fried fish, beans and rice, etc. etc. Not really much in the way of recognizable Chinese food here (except possibly the chop suey, duck and fried rice/wontons) but you can taste the Chinese flavor profiles in many dishes -- including soy, ginger and star anise. Their beverage menu is limited to Peruvian soft drinks mostly, and I would have expected some Chinese tea -- but oh well. Pleasant place for a quick lunch with attentive service and reasonable pricing if a bit cramped. Lunch for two was $25.00 -- all in. read more
