We had such a great experience at Asu Mare Peru! The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was amazing. Our waitress was incredibly polite, friendly, and attentive, which made our experience even better. The only drawback was that the food did take quite a while to come out, but once it arrived, it was definitely worth the wait. Everything we tried was flavorful and delicious! They have music videos playing live music which is a definite plus. I would absolutely come back. There are already a few more dishes on the menu I can't wait to try. I recently visited a small Peruvian restaurant located inside a shopping mall, which made parking very convenient. The space itself is cozy but well-organized, and we were able to get seated right away without any wait. The decor is inviting, and the music added a nice touch to the overall atmosphere. One thing I personally didn't care for was the menu being on a tablet at the table--it felt less straightforward than a traditional menu, especially when it came to understanding pricing. For our meal, I ordered the lomo saltado and substituted the usual white rice for chaufa. We also ordered salchipapa, tallarín verde with grilled chicken, and three sodas. Presentation-wise, all the dishes were beautifully plated, which definitely made a strong first impression. The tallarín verde was the standout of the meal--flavorful, well-balanced, and served in a just-right portion. The lomo saltado itself was good, but the chaufa rice was noticeably salty and ended up overpowering the rest of the dish. The salchipapa, on the other hand, was a bit disappointing. It was mostly French fries with only a small amount of sausage and very light on sauce. Where the experience really fell short was the billing. The prices displayed on the tablet did not match what we were ultimately charged. We were billed extra for grilled chicken and sirloin steak in the lomo saltado, even though no alternatives or pricing differences were clearly explained when ordering. The only additional charge that was communicated upfront was the substitution for chaufa rice. Transparency in pricing is important, and it was frustrating to see unexpected charges added at the end. For three entrées and three sodas, the total came out to around $100, including an automatic 18% gratuity. While the food had some highlights, the lack of clear pricing and unexpected charges--combined with a menu system I didn't find user-friendly--left a negative impression. Service was a little slow but the food was flavorful and filling. I ordered the asu madre trio and got to try different dishes. The jalea had more fried yucca pieces than fried fish. I loved the ceviche and the chaufa had a distinctive taste. The restaurant is small but has been upgraded and they have tvs for entrainment. The night I visited the bar area was very loud. The waitress forgot the sauces we asked for but she was friendly. I would suggest to get ice with the chicha morada because although it's good I felt like it was too sweet or maybe not cold enough. read more

Came here for Peruvian Independence Day. The place was packed. We reserved a table. Service was very slow. Took them a while to ask for our order. They didn't set our silverware. The drinks were good but small cups. They didnt have the meal my son wanted. My biggest complaint was my Bistek a lo Pobre. It did not have flavor. My fries were not fresh cut fries. Now the trio was delicious, including the rice. I may give them another try to see if they improved on the flavor. read more

Decided to try this place, which from what I understand hasn't been open very long. It's located in a strip mall with parking, which is always a plus. We were seated right away. Like many places I've gone to lately, they use iPads for menus. I actually like this because it gives you a visual of what you're ordering. I did notice that although cocktails were listed, the page mentioned they are "coming soon." I decided to get the Ceviche Clásico, and my partner ordered the Lomo Saltado. For an appetizer, we got the Trio de Panes con Chicharrón (French rolls with crispy pork belly). To drink, we ordered chicha (the purple corn drink). The ceviche was fresh and nicely plated. I eat ceviche often, and while it was good, it wasn't something I would order again. My partner felt similarly about the lomo saltado, adding that the dish had very little meat. It felt more like a lunch portion, even though we were there for dinner. We were most let down by the pan con chicharrón, which lacked flavor and could have benefited from a sauce. Our server was friendly but seemed to be the only one working the floor for most of our visit, until another staff member eventually arrived. Because of that, she wasn't able to be as attentive as she might have been with more help. A small detail I really appreciated was their dishware--beautiful shapes and colors. The restaurant itself is also beautifully decorated with bright colors and Peruvian symbols and artwork. Since they're still a new restaurant, they may just be finding their footing. They have a good foundation, and hopefully these details will continue to improve. read more

Went there for lunch today, and I have to say that I will not be going back. Presentation was very nice, but unfortunately, both meals were so overcooked they were just about inedible. The chicken lomo was decent in flavor and the fries seemed to be hand cut, which was very nice as opposed to using frozen, but the chicken was so overdone that my fork could not even get through a piece (they were cut into chunks) my husband had the fish fillet, which was a lunch special and it was extremely overcooked as well. Their "yellow sauce "was awful. They charged me three dollars for it and it came right out of the refrigerator, ice cold, which it should not be like that, should be room temperature at best. It was the consistency of pudding. As far as the service, they brought the appetizer at the exact same time as the meals. The waitress never came back to see if everything was OK or if we needed anything and then when we asked for the check and she saw that our plates were barely touched she did not even ask why? And just for the record there was only two other tables so it wasn't like she was busy. Wasted $50 today I am putting photos below just so you could see how nice the presentation was but don't be fooled unless you go there on a day where there's a different chef. read more

Went here on a Sunday early dinner time. We walked in and so we waited for 15 minutes or so. (Reservation is a must). The place is a bit small but they make it work. They serve delicious Peruvian food w/ big portion. Highly recommend their ceviche sampler (no fishy taste at all) and arroz con mariscus. The steak was okay. The green pasta was a bit on a drier side (not a fan) but I do not know if that's the normal taste or consistency of it. Check this place out for yourself. I will come back surely. read more

We were excited to try this *new Peruvian spot*... especially since we're Peruvian . Big mistake. Started with wine --asked about their selection and our waitress looked completely lost. Asked for a taste... she brought it in a **shooter** . Ordered a bottle--came out **warm** (yes, warm white wine... amazing!!). Ordered anticuchos to start... and WOW cold, undercooked, and just completely wrong. One bite and we were done. Plate basically untouched--and not a single "how is everything?" Then came the mains: * Ceviche--surprisingly okay (we were scared to eat it at that point ) * **Chaufa mixto (chicken & beef, one plate)**--greenish, stale rice and the chicken... I can't. It literally looked and felt like a **rubber band** stretchy, shiny, and impossible to pull apart without it snapping back. Not food. Absolutely not. We stopped eating again. Still no check-in. Finally ask for the bill and *then* she asks how everything was . We explain... she just stares. No apology, nothing. Anticuchos still on the bill--had to ask to remove them. Oh--and gratuity already included . When we asked for our change, she looked... disappointed . I came with my family and we had a pretty good experience. It's Valentine's Day week and they have a lot of nice decoration. There's a lot of parking which is great. I had the rice with shrimp, chicken and beef special, and it comes with a fried wonton on top, 8/10. My friends daughter had the Lo Salado with the chicken special, she licked the plate. My friend's wife had the green spaghetti, no meat special and she says it was delicious.. my friend had the Chicharron sliders. He gives it a four out of five. I ordered arroz chaufa from this restaurant for the first time. When I got home, opened the bag, and tried it, I realized it was not chaufa at all. The rice only tasted like soy sauce, it didn't have egg, and the chicken was in large grilled pieces. There was no scallion either. I know good food, and for that reason I cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.
