Kiku has been wonderful and celebrated since I was a child. It's become a lot bigger and recent years, but they still do an amazing job. The food is always extremely fresh and it's a lot of fun. I like everything they serve and it's a great experience. I think though it depends also on what chef you get... We come here usually a few times a year and always a party of 7 or more. This time it was 2 adults and 5 kids. 1 in a highchair, so didn't eat. 3 kids meals & the other child ate off the regular menu. There was a charge for $33 extra for fried rice, which barely had any veggies or eggs added. The cost isn't an issue if you're getting your monies worth. The hibachi guy was great. He was very nice and interactive with us and the kids. We tipped him, as we always tip them for cooking. My problem was the server, Maricela. She brought us two bottles of water, took our order and came back once after the food was cooked. We waited 20 minutes for the check because she wasn't around. If it were busy, I'd understand, but it was not. She didn't have a smile the entire time. When she finally made her way back around, we asked for the check. Didn't complain, just simply asked for the check. The kicker- She decided to add on 20% gratuity, didn't say a word, just added it. I understand large parties, gratuity is added, but you add it for 3 adult meals? That's pretty sad she felt the need to add it. It was written on the check in pen & didn't say a word to us. We paid with Apple Pay and did cash for the tip. Usually a cash tip is much appreciated, in this case it was not. She then came over and told us we didn't have enough money on the table ($40 cash tip) and that it's mandatory to pay what they add to the check. First of all, it is not. We always tip over 20% any where we go & in fact we did and gave $10 to the hibachi guy. I have two regrets tonight here. Spending over $300 for a meal (tips included) & not taking the $40 from her and telling her she didn't deserve any of it. If this wasn't enough, she was complaining to the hostess about it. The manager, Nester I believe? Just apologized for the service and waitress back talking. No real apology , just said he recognized us and said sorry it happened. Last time we come here. It was a great experience, i loved our server and our chef they were so funny and made sure we were all having a good time. The portions are huge and delicious. I got the salmon and white rice and I loved it! A lot of my group got the filet mignon and the teriyaki steak. They also enjoyed it a lot. Everyone loved the shrimp. I should have listened to the reviews. First time and last time at this place. We had a reservation and were sat at our reserved time, so I was impressed based on other reviews. Until we sat there watching everyone to eat and an hour later our chef came out. Soup tasted like water and everyone pushed it away. Salad was meh. Everyone in our party complained about how overcooked and dry our food was. Our chef was also boring as hell and kept saying the same words over and over as if he was funny. Surprised to see all of the low reviews. We have been going every December for a few years now. The food is always consistently good. The chef interaction is on par and the service is efficient and friendly. We went last night and all requests and allergy issues were accommodated. The food was exceptionally tasty. The only one gripe was the soft shell crab roll was flavorless. However, the Alaska and Godzilla were amazing. Went with my two friends for my friends birthday. I want to preface that we are 15 and 16 years old and know about the "teens don't tip" saying. But that is not us. Was sat at a table with a nice older couple, we were seated and asked for our drinks and was brought them by our waitress. Then she brought us our complimentary soup+salad and that was it for us. She never came back to fill up our waters, or clear our plates from when we had said complimentary appetizers until our meal was almost over. Here is the kicker, the waitress hands us the check after sitting there for a while after we finished eating. Me and my friends asked for her to separate the check so we could pay separately, it's not like we asked her to separate it 8-9 times. Just 3. She said no, sorry. I have been here to eat with multiple families before and they were able to split the bill so that's a lie. Me and my friends say whatever and pool our money together to pay for the bill. As I give her the check she starts to explain that "there is no tip" and I said I would give it to her once she came back with the receipt. I give her a $5.50 tip which I felt was being nice for the "work" she did. Me and my friends get up to leave and the waitress tells us to come back. She keeps telling us that I didn't give her a big enough tip and I need to give her more money. At this point I was fed up with the service and I threw a $10 dollar bill down and told her there you go. I walked out and was very very mad. The other couple at the hibachi table was not treated this way because they were adults. And we are teenagers. Totally inappropriate and I will not be returning. Tipping culture is out of the world nowadays and I'm so sad that this happened. After reading some of these other reviews, I'm scared I was ripped off for some of my money. I wish I could go back and look at the receipt. If you plan on going here (which I highly recommend against) make sure to check your receipt and that they put down the right things and didn't over charge you for the already over priced very mediocre food. read more

My first review of this place last year was very good, went this past Saturday and my experience was totally different, soup had no taste, salad had way to much dressing, probably to mask the chemical taste of the lettuce, I didn't eat that either and as for my meal, the 5.00 extra for fried rice isn't worth it, very little vegetables in it if any ,plus rice was over fried and hard, now for my steak, order rare, he was being funny and gave it to me raw, so the people I sat with could get a laugh at my expense, raw and rare are to different things but it came overcooked. My family loves this place for hibachi. Yea it is expensive but you get a show the kids love and will actually sit through. They were very accommodating for food allergies, particularly gluten. No problems making separate servings. The food tasted great. I recommend the scallops. Kiku offers some mixed drinks and beers but I went for the sake. They have 7 or so sake options, most served cold. I will admit that I am not a sake expert but it certainly did satisfy. Make sure you have a reservation, the restaurant fills up fast for hibachi. Food was just ok, it really had no flavor. They tried to seat 12 people around one hibachi table, so the 2 people on the corners were trying to eat with their elbows tucked in. My hibachi experience at Kiku was pretty good. Our chef was really nice and fun, and our servers were attentive. I'd say our food was a bit on the saltier side the whole night. However, the portion size was huge! I had a lot of leftovers to take home for another meal. The restaurant itself looks nice. Space is a little tight at each grill, and sometimes the noise of other grills can be overpowering. Overall though, great time! read more

Quality:The food is made fresh in front of you which is always a nice experience. The shrimp and the noodles were my favorite Price: The pricing is average $25-30 depending on which is your main entree (shrimp, salmon, chicken). I think the price is fair considering you get soup, rice, noodles, and vegetables. Overall it's nice to come here from time to time. Great dinner and a show. We ordered the sushi sampler and the sushi platter. Both were underwhelming. There really should be more variety. Even a single roll has more sushi than the sampler. Much has changed in the hibachi chef's techniques, but they certainly keep current with the relevant pop songs. It's a fun group dinner to be a part of. The food is good - and you can clearly see what ingredients they are adding, like the chunks of butter! We also ordered a nabayaki udon, and while it only had one shrimp tempura and the soup tasted like soy sauce, it was fine. They offer beginner chopsticks which is great for the kids to use. We went with a party of 11 for my daughter's birthday. The restaurant was exceptionally hot and uncomfortable. Our server seemed like she was taking care of so many tables that she wasn't able to adequately service us. We waited forever for water refills and drinks. I had paid extra for a cake to be served And it took a long time to try and find someone to get it. I have been to a lot of other hibachi restaurants and going by what I've experienced, our hibachi chef was below average at best. When I spoke to the manager after dinner to tell him how disappointed I was his response was yeah I'm really sorry. I guess they don't care about customer satisfaction. Where do I even begin. I'm $90 in the hole for a trip to the 4th layer of hell. It's 97° outside, it's barely 78° at the bar in Kiku. We thought we would grab a few drinks and some sushi at the bar... mistake. Temperature inside = Muggy. Bar top = sticky. One look at the disgusting menus, I wanted to leave without ordering a single thing. My husband wanted to ride it out, so we stayed. We're waiting 15 minutes for the bartender to take our drink order. An older man and a literal child (maybe 10-12 years old) sits next to us. After waiting 15 second, the boomer starts slamming his credit card on the table, demanding the bartenders attention. He gets it, gets his drinks quickly and goes to their hibachi table that is now ready. We finally get her attention with friendly waves and smiles. We ordered a round of drinks, gyoza and 3 sushi rolls. "We're in" we think... wrong. She forgets about our drinks for another 5-10 minutes. There's only 3 other people at the bar. We finally get our drinks and our food is ready immediately. As we're 4 or 5 pieces in when we hear an electric bug swatter. I put my chop sticks down and look over to see a woman casually waving a big swatter just zapping 5 bugs with each gentle swish of her wrist. I don't pick those chop sticks back up... but I order another glass of wine. Next to us a couple sits down with a teenage girl. The bartender asks the man if she's 21. He says "she's close". She gets a Mai Tai. She had to be 16-17. My husband said 15. Definitely way under 21. She was snap chatting her friends poses with the drinks. Can it get any worse? Yes. A family of 3 adults and 2 children under 10 enter the bar. Woman looks at the menu and goes "where are the drinks for kids?"... ma'am... this is the bar. They sit for 10-15 minutes and make a mess next to us. Before I saw the bug swatter in action I would have told you that the sushi was good. Not bad, but not great. Before the horrendous service, I would have said the bar is dated but decent. Before the underage drinking and literal children being allowed in the bar area, I would have said it's a quiet spot to grab a cocktail. I was tortured for $90 and 1.5 hours of my life. I agree with some of the critical reviews here - okay service and food but pricey (2.5-ish) Somewhat bustling on a Saturday evening in the time of COVID, Kiku had limited capacity but mostly everyone seemed to be enjoying hibachi (and celebrating birthdays). Kiku offers various specialty rolls (with pictures) and a paper menu that lists a few appetizers, sushi/sashimi and entrees like teriyaki. I wish the menu had more options though. We were seated right away at the sushi table after calling for a regular table (no one else was seated there). The waitress was eager to take our order and ensure we paid after we finally received the check, but wasn't attentive at filling our water, or checking on our satisfaction throughout. We received our rolls quickly but then waited a long while for the gyoza, which also arrived slightly warm. The location is off of 17 and has limited parking. Went to celebrate a child's birthday. The food was alright but doesn't feel authentic. The dips were strange and they basically just season everything with oil and soy sauce. Our hibachi cook was probably the oldest guy in the restaurant - he was not very entertaining and we were kind of chuckling about it. The meals are pricey for what you get. I got the lobster since that was the only thing that appealed to me. Lobster was a little overdone. Noodles were pretty good. Salad had too much ginger dressing which was very sweet. Too much rice. Veggies were ok. Tried a bite of steak which was fine, not the best I've had. I was super thirsty that night and my glass was filled with so much ice I kept needing refills. I swear I had to get 10 glasses of water that night (may also have to do with the soy sauce seasoned food). I just wanted them to leave the pitcher. We ordered some ice cream for dessert and they put a candle in it for the birthday girl. Then they sang and one woman touched the 3 year old girl from behind who proceeded to give her a death stare - she backed off and we were laughing so hard! Awkward! I was recommended Kiku by a friend so we gave it a try for my boyfriends birthday. We were originally a group of 12 and eventually went down to a group of 8 and they were super understanding. Most of my group got Sirloin steak hibachi and we were very happy with our choice. The fried rice is an addition charge but definitely worth the extra amount. They asked us if we wanted to purchase ice cream privately for our birthday boys so we did. And they sang happy birthday with the gong. Our hibachi chef was very nice and fun. We were really excited about this place but it did not live up to expectations. We sat at a regular table not a hibachi table, maybe that was the first mistake, I don't know. We ordered gyoza as as appetizer, they were pan fried perfectly and were pretty good. We then ordered hibachi dinners, filet mignon and scallops and filet mignon and chicken. They were both so bland, no flavor at all. Usually when you order hibachi at a hibachi table they cook the meat in butter and garlic, sometimes teriyaki sauce. Well none of that was on anything. There wasn't even a sear to the meat or scallops. The chicken was hard and fatty which I've never experienced at a hibachi restaurant. When brought to the waitresses attention she said "they switched to white mean, chicken breast, that's why". Which is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard, Popeyes makes chicken breast better than what we were served at KiKu. On top of that everything came out so quickly as if it was pre-made and cold .. A lack luster experience with over priced, poorly made food. read more

Consistently delicious hibachi; have been coming here for years! The portions are huge, so you'll definitely have enough for leftovers. Came here tonight with my family and got the filet mignon/lobster hibachi and a piece of uni sushi. As always, the hibachi did not disappoint. The rice, veggies and noodles were excellent and my steak was cooked to perfection. The uni was too cold and tasted like it had been previously frozen so I would skip that next time. Our waitress was the only reason I docked a star. She forgot lots of things that we ordered - my salad came without a dressing and my dad didn't get his drink or his sushi until he checked in with her multiple times. Unfortunately due to the pandemic there aren't many chefs to cook at the tables. We waited over 1.5 hours for a chef to reach our table and at this point it was past 10pm. I wish we had known from the beginning about the wait. The waitress was also not professional and gave us our drinks in children's to-go cups while everyone in the restaurant had proper glasses.
