Came here for the tasting menu (omakase) with a friend. There is a large lot behind the restaurant with plenty of metered parking. Inside has a sophisticated yet simple look. We were seated right away. It's nice that the place is BYOB so we brought a nice bottle of wine and they don't charge any corking fees or anything like that. Staff took a while to get the bottle opened and brought back to us but the rest of the service was smooth and quick. Fish is very fresh and delicious and the tasting menu offers a nice mix of hot and cold dishes. Was exactly the right amount of full by the end. It's not quite NYC omakse but a very good alternative. The main issue is the high prices so would only go here sparingly.
Finally made it to Bon and I'm already planning my next trip back! I strongly recommend making a reservation on the weekends as it fills up very fast. They are also BYOB. We were seating immediately for our 6:30pm reservation and service was phenomenal when ordering and bringing our food out. The only thing was we sat for a while with empty water glasses and no one asked how our food was once we got it. And it also took awhile to flag someone down to get our check. We started with their tempura appetizer. It was delicious perfectly crisp and paired great with the dipping sauce. Overall a great size portion to share with two people. For entrees I ordered their spicy tuna roll and dragon roll. The spicy tuna was delicious and with quality tuna. Not the normal minced tuna most places will serve you. The dragon roll was large and just enough to fill me up. I also enjoyed that they don't drown their rolls in sauces and toppings here. My friend ordered their miso black cod. He enjoyed the portion size and it paired great with a side of white rice. I do have to say my favorite part of the meal was how quickly staff brought over silverware for my friend when they saw him struggling to use the chopsticks. Inside is very modern and clean. The restaurant is perfectly light and tables are well spaced.
We went on a Friday evening. The atmosphere was very open with decorations for the holiday season. I appreciated the space between each of the tables. We had multiple waiters/waitresses all that were extremely tentative, especially Randy. The food is priced a notch above your local Japanese restaurants but the sushi and entrees were delicious and extremely fresh. I highly recommend the redbud roll if you enjoy tuna and spice along with the truffle unagi foie gras Bowl. One negative is that the establishment has a implemented both a card service fee AND a cash discount. I understand in this time applying a small credit card fee, but applying both if you pay credit card you will be paying an extra 8.85% which is steep. Make sure you bring cash when you come here to avoid this. Overall food was delicious. I will be coming back with cash.
Stopped in for lunch on a rainy Saturday about half an hour after they opened, around 12. It was still pretty empty at that time. The restaurant is modern-looking and spacious. They gave us this cozy little nook that was also able to accommodate our stroller. They started us off with some hot (peach?) tea, which was nice on a rainy day. They don't have a drink menu as they are BYOB, but even a non-alcoholic drink menu would have been nice. They said they just have cans of soda, so there is some untapped potential for them here if they added some Asian drinks. They have some deals on the menu, like appetizer combos (we opted for the any two appetizers for $38), and lunch special - even on the weekends! We ordered a feast to share since we were celebrating Hubby's birthday. We had: -Scallop Foie Gras (scallop, Foie Gras, torched with truffle oil) - this was good but the scallop slices were thinner than I expected. Comes with six pieces -Beef Carpaccio (thin sliced beef, pecan, arugula, grana padano cheese, sauce, and balsamic) - a little too saucy for me and I wish they cut up the beef into smaller pieces because I nearly choked on one. Other than that, the beef itself was good -Salmon Course Lunch Special (2 salmon, 2 torched salmon, 2 salmon belly, 2 salmon tataki, 1 salmon handroll) - the salmon was very good. My only complaint would be th torched salmon - they put entirely way too much spicy mayo and eel sauce on it. Next time, I would ask for sauce on the side. This was a great deal though. It also comes with a soup, salad, and two bulgogi arancinis, which were very unique - but again too much sauce since it was served on a plate with tomato sauce. The salad already has dressing on it, which you guessed it - too much dressing. So this seems to be a common theme at Bon -20 PCs of chef's choice sushi - the pieces were not explained to us but we were able to guess the fish and the flavors of the ingredients for the most part. My favorite was definitely the tuna, which melts in your mouth. Other top contenders include a yellowtail and a fluke (which I normally don't love but it tasted really fresh here). Dislikes includes the filler pieces of eel and cooked shrimp. There were 10 different pieces, so we both got to have one of each -Croffle with ice cream - all of the reviews online showed everyone getting this dessert, so we wanted to try it since we figured it must be good. It was just okay - pretty basic and probably something you could just make yourself at home Our waiter was really nice but we did feel neglected a bit. He forgot some things so we had to ask a few times for certain items. But it was probably because the restaurant was starting to get busier and he was the only waiter around. I would still come back. The fish is good quality and very reasonably priced for a higher end sushi place. Tip - they might have a parking lot around back but there was some street parking at this time and it's only 25 cents for two hours.
Amazing experience at Bon from the ambience to the quality of the sushi. This is one of the best sushi restaurants I have I ever been to and I call myself a sushi connoisseur. It is very nice and clean inside and everything taste so good! We got the tuna crispy rice and the refresh roll and both were outstanding!
Had Christmas Eve dinner at Bon. Service was excellent and food was delicious (as always!) Absolute favorite on the menu is the scallop appetizer- beautiful combination of flavors. I had the yuzu miso black cod, pictured. Lovely presentation and tasty fish cooked perfectly. Definitely recommend.
If you're looking for top-quality omakase without having to go all the way to NYC, this place is such a gem! The atmosphere is amazing, and the quality truly rivals what I've had in Japan. My sister and my mom threw my bridal shower at Bon this May. Bon did an amazing job at making the day amazing. The food was to die for the ambience was electric and the staff were all so sweet and accommodating . Everyone had the best time and raved about the foood! If you're planning an event and are a sushi finatic like me, definitely consider Bon! Lia was amazing and so sweet, she helped my fam so much with making sure the day went smoothly. I just went back for a casual dinner with my parents and the sushi blew me away again - it was just so fresh and delicious! I live in New York City so good sushi is something I come by often and I wouldn't expect it to be just as good in New Jersey, but its truly amazing. Thank you, Bon! read more

LOVED Bon! 20 courses for $150pp and we were completely stuffed. Fantastic service and super fresh sushi. My only complaint here would be that the sushi bar section where the omakase takes place is basically right by the open area with the rest of the restaurant so it was a bit loud. Other than that, everything was great. Would love to come back here for lunch/dinner for a non-omakase meal! BYOB and a great spot for dates or for dinner with friends. read more

Chic ambience and nice for celebration. Omakase table experience with multiple dishes immediately put you on defense Good start of 3 hot appetizers, cod fish is okay & sushi is better than average but not omakase level. Cold noodle & shrimp tempura take a bad turn but the mochi waffle with ice cream save the day Overall service is okay but still a reasonable gap to Omakase. Located in the downtown area is the Korean Japanese fusion restaurant: Bon. The ambiance is quite nice inside. They have regular table seating plus a sushi counter towards the back to partake in a chef counter omakase. The service is very attentive. The servers always asking how my meal is going along with attending to my drink refill needs of water and hot tea . I opted to go for the Omakase priced at $150.00 . There were a couple of appetizers before the nigiri which were quite tasty . From what I can recall; It was sashimi course, a fresh oyster , a piece of black cod , a streamed fish dish and lastly the chowanmushi The nigiri course was to follow and the fish did not disappoint. It was fresh and tasty . I definitely had a couple of favorite pieces . The final was the best though. The chef created a hand roll consisting of unagi, foie gras and a mountain of shaved black truffle. Lastly, the meal ended with a clam miso soup and for dessert a mochi ice cream. I was definitely more than full at this point. I think they could've used a bigger bowl for the clam miso soup to be honest; it was served in the standard miso bowl and you literally had to take the clams out in order to use the spoon. The dessert could've been something better than just a mochi ice cream piece;For $150.00 it could've been more creative. For a restaurant that's only been open for 2 months. Overall, the meal wasn't a bad experience at all. Comparing it to places in NYC though, NJ omakase still needs to step up its game . Bon and sushi Kai in fort Lee are just about as close to the NYC omakase experience as you can get. I'd definitely comeback to try the regular menu the next time. read more

LOVE LOVE LOVE The ambiance was warm and inviting. The staff was incredibly attentive, ensuring our tea were always full. But the true star of the show was, without a doubt, the sushi. The fish was unbelievably fresh, each piece melting in your mouth like butter. The cuts were precise, and the flavor combinations were divine. The sushi combo lunch is mine and my 3 y.o. favorite. Ever think a 3 year old would like sushi? Well, when mine tried the sushi she became a fan. Highly recommend Bon! read more

We went here Saturday night for dinner. The waitress and waiter were super friendly. We ordered a little bit of everything and it was all delicious! It has a very romantic date night vibe. Sushi was fresh. Pictures of all the food is below. Will definitely go back! read more

We heard about new Japanese/korean spot opening in Westwood and we had to try it! They had appetizer combos which worked out well since there were a lot of interesting appetizers. Appetizers: 5/5 We ordered Bulgogi Arancini (seems to be a popular choice for many yelpers), tuna tataki, and yook jeon. Bulgogi arancini didnt have any bulgogi flavor but it was super crispy and hearty. Tuna tataki was very well prepared. Yook jeon came with spicy chive salad which was sooo good. Main: 4/5 I ordered salmon flight and toro caviar uni special bowl. Salmon flight had array of salmon sashimi and sushi and rolls. Everything was super fresh and prepared beautifully. Toro caviar uni bowl was beyond perfect! I didnt have too much of it as my husband inhaled his food! We highly highly recommend this place! Great service fresh fish and wondeful vibe! Wow, wow, and WOW. I'm hooked. The table omakase was certainly some of the best Sushi I've ever had. Hands down. The staff was friendly, kind, and explained so much to us about each dish. Of which one was more mouthwatering than the next. Looked to be recently renovated. Clean, well kept, and comfortable spot. If you want great food, go here. read more
