We love it here! Quiet, beautiful atmosphere with few tables for an intimate dinner. It is BYOB which is nice too. The fish always tastes fresh, and we also love the yellowtail carpaccio appetizer and their fried rice is out of this world! We've been sushi fans for years, but never even knew this place existed. The restaurant has an upscale feel, but the prices were what we are used to paying for good sushi - not cheap, but not expensive either. The menu is extensive and full of combos and specials - so if you are strategic, you can navigate to a great meal at a great price. We started with the salmon tartar which was more finely chopped than our usual place makes it, and we really liked this. You could tell is was made from very good quality salmon. We chose two special rolls from the board and they were both uniquely delicious and satisfying. They did not rush us out as we finished our pot of chrysanthemum flower tea and relaxed. I stopped in for an impromptu lunch since I was in the area for work. I ordered two rolls, Spicy Salmon and the Sakura Roll. The rolls are deceptively filling, I probably should've gotten two regular rolls instead of a special and a regular, but you live and you learn. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that I felt their special rolls were a tad over priced. I've been to a number of other sushi locations in the area and I would've pegged their Sakura Roll as more $16-17 rather than $19; there was seafood in the roll but for 2 shrimp and some lobster I wasn't overly impressed. Well the decor and the upscale of this restaurant is nice I can't see the same for the food very disappointed with lukewarm soup salad barely had anything on it and the dressing was terrible the sprite we had gotten taste like bleach no joke. I ordered two pieces of tuna sushi, the pieces of tuna were sliced paper thin. I ordered an eel handroll with avocado. It mostly avocado, very small piece of eel. I ordered a spice yellowtail handroll, it was swimming in the sauce and there wasn't much fish at all. I also asked if they two other types of fish, which they did not have. Let me preface this review that we've been long time patrons of this restaurant. While the quality of the food has suffered the past few years, it's local and the food was still ok. We ordered takeout tonight for two: a few rolls and a yaki udon. Pretty simple. Website says one hour. Ok. No problem. I get to the restaurant one hour on the nose and the young host says "do you mind if we call you when it's ready" I look around wondering if she's talking to me. Yes I mind. Just tell me when it will be ready and I'll determine if I'm waiting or canceling. I was then told another 15-20 minutes and I asked to cancel. The owner knows who we are as long time patrons. She and the young host handled this terribly. There was another patron attempting to pick up food who was also upset. Frankly, the food is not good enough to deal with this nonsense so we will not be frequenting this restaurant any longer. read more

The cons: The parking situation is a bit challenging and the service felt rushed when we arrived. I think because it was an early Friday night around 645pm when we arrived and they were trying to push us out to turn over the table but we weren't planning on rushing as it was a dinner for a few girls getting out and away from the kids for good food and conversation. They also kept trying to clear out plates while we were still eating which was annoying. The place is small and we got the last table so others had to wait for a while since they don't take reservations. However, once we tried to get the check at 830pm we asked for it and I think the server forgot because it took 20 minutes and several reminders....to get the check and another 10/15 minutes for them to process the charges. Go-to local sushi bar with great lunch deals. Normally, get the sushi and sashimi lunch special, it goes for about $20. You get miso soup, salad, and a great plate of sushi and sashimi. The miso is fresh and served very hot. The salad is your typical iceberg lettuce with ginger sauce (definite room for improvement here). The sushi and sashimi are very fresh and you can tell they use high quality meats. Ask for the hot green tea with you meal. The tea goes really well with your combo. Hubby brought me here for Valentines Day and though I don't celebrate this gosh awful occasion, if I am bribed with Sakura I might do a skippy, jumpy thing, just sayin'. First the wait staff is so polite and greet us happily, they seat us promptly, go over the specials and bring us our beverages while we make our choices. The fish is so fresh and the presentation is 100% creative and beautiful I am always pleased with what we wind up ordering. I am also super happy that sushi when ordered here is, 2 pieces of sushi per order. So many places are 1 piece of sushi per order which I find annoying. I am partial to the sushi/ sashimi for two, the selection is generous and its nice to just take our leisurely time to enjoy the meal and the whole dining experience. The sushi chefs cut the fish perfectly, not too big just perfect bite size pieces with what I consider an acceptable rice to fish bite, the wasabi is fresh and I always ask for extra ginger. Usually we will order Hamachi Kama to share if they have it- it is sooo good. Salad does accompany our meal and the dressing is no joke, I could drink the stuff. Hot tea and bottled water (bubbly) for me always compliments the meal, hubby enjoys soda. I think the price of the meals we have ordered definitely match the quality of the food. Stopped in for lunch with some clients. Ordered the tuna Carpaccio, seaweed salad, miso soup and volcano roll. The soup was excellent and had a creamy texture. The type of Miso paste they used did not taste like one I have had before. Seaweed salad was your standard, pre-made affair that everyone has. The Carpaccio was excellent with jalapeno slices on top with a yuzu dressing. The volcano roll was huge and quite good. The spicy sauce was slightly different than elsewhere and it was topped with a Japanese powder which added another layer of taste. Service was good and the restaurant was clean and well lit. Everything was super fresh and light, and they cut the fish thinly, like I asked for. The service was good, they were very attentive. By far, taking pricing into account, the best sushi restaurant in the area. Service may not be perfect, but the sushi is excellent. My favorite appetizers are Tsao's Chicken and Miso Eggplant. The dumplings are quite good too. The roll specials, listed on a glass panel next to the sushi bar, are always good. My favorites include Island Roll, Hawaiian Roll, and Triple Three.
