Food was not tasty at all. Even though it was cheap, not worth it. Unfortunately there are limited options at this mall.

This is my new favorite sushi spot. The food is immaculate! I have yet to have a dish I didn't…read morelike. The only time I was like "meh" was when I had the matcha latte (3/5). Speaking of the food, let's get into it. Mango Avocado Roll: Refreshing and Delicious. This was a great appetizer to my poke bowl. Oasis Poke Bowl: This was deliciously refreshing as well, however it doesn't come with any sauce. I asked for a side of teriyaki which made everything better; elevated the entire bowl. Surf N Turf: I will order this moving forward as my go-to roll. The beef was cooked to perfection and paired perfectly with the salmon. This roll itself filled me up, I thought I was going to order something else but I was done after that. Salmon and Shrimp Teriyaki: My partner gets this each time and I am always so excited to throw my fork into his plate. The teriyaki sauce here is so tasty, I want to put it on everything! The salmon and shrimp are also cooked super well, no chewiness here. Great amount of crisp on the salmon, the way it slides onto the fork is beautiful to watch. Vegetable Gyoza: The star of the show!! Best appetizer they have truly. I was so sad when there was no more. But thankful to have been able to experience such a great starter. Sweet Potato Roll: (Not pictured) The roll was ok, I liked it but felt like it was missing something. Maybe I would have liked it if it was Korean sweet potatoes. I won't order again because the menu is so extensive I can't limit myself to something I thought was ok. (4/5) Overall, Shokudo is a fantastic place to eat. It's truly an experience. The music is amazing and not overbearing, the ambiance is beautiful and there's multiple conversation pieces. What I love about looking at the items in the restaurant is how they go from traditional to contemporary. The servers were the sweetest, they all were extremely hospitable. All I can say is, I'll be back and if you go... you may see me there.

We ordered a sushi combo and substituted the spicy tuna roll for a regular tuna roll. We were told…read morethis would cost an extra $2.00, which I thought was odd since the spicy tuna roll is usually more expensive than the regular one-- but fine. When the combo came out, it still had the spicy tuna roll. We sent it back, and the waiter returned to tell us that it would actually be an additional $2.00 because we changed it to a regular tuna roll. Not wanting to argue, I just said "OK," but I definitely wasn't happy. I also ordered the chicken teriyaki, which was rubbery and didn't taste like any teriyaki I'm used to. Our appetizer never came, and when we asked about it, all the waiter could do was apologize. At that point, that was all they could offer.

THE GOOD ----------------…read more+ All of the food we ordered was EXCELLENT. ++++ Maki Special with Spicy Salmon, Spicy White Tuna and Spicy Yellowtail sushi rolls were all very good. Not going to blow you away, but as good as you would expect your sushi rolls to be ++++ Sushi/Sashimi Combo arrived in a boat and all of the sushi, sashimi were super fresh. ++++ Chicken Udon was one of the best udons we ever had at one of these local Japanese restaurants! Soup was great, udon was great, there was plenty of vegetables inside and the chicken was verrrrry tender and tasty. ++++ A complimentary vanilla ice cream was served at the end of our meal. + The waitresses were very friendly and attentive. The food arrived fairly quickly. + There are plenty of parking spaces in the private lot of this little strip mall. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - The menu prices are a bit on the high side for everything and it would be nice if things were $1-$2 cheaper like some other local Japanese restaurants. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Restaurant is tight inside, with not a lot of walking space, and there aren't many tables, but there is a cozy feel to it.

The food is always extremely fresh and it's a lot of fun. I like everything they serve and it's a great experience. I think though it depends also on what chef you get... We had a really fun one, but we noticed the guy in the Table next to us wasn't as exciting which I felt bad for that table but otherwise it's a great experience.

There was a charge for $33 extra for fried rice, which barely had any veggies or eggs added. The cost isn't an issue if you're getting your monies worth. The hibachi guy was great. He was very nice and interactive with us and the kids. We tipped him, as we always tip them for cooking. My problem was the server, Maricela. She brought us two bottles of water, took our order and came back once after the food was cooked. We waited 20 minutes for the check because she wasn't around. If it were busy, I'd understand, but it was not. She didn't have a smile the entire time. When she finally made her way back around, we asked for the check. Didn't complain, just simply asked for the check. The kicker- She decided to add on 20% gratuity, didn't say a word, just added it. I understand large parties, gratuity is added, but you add it for 3 adult meals? That's pretty sad she felt the need to add it. It was written on the check in pen & didn't say a word to us. We paid with Apple Pay and did cash for the tip. Usually a cash tip is much appreciated, in this case it was not. She then came over and told us we didn't have enough money on the table ($40 cash tip) and that it's mandatory to pay what they add to the check. First of all, it is not. We always tip over 20% any where we go & in fact we did and gave $10 to the hibachi guy. I have two regrets tonight here. Spending over $300 for a meal (tips included) & not taking the $40 from her and telling her she didn't deserve any of it. If this wasn't enough, she was complaining to the hostess about it. The manager, Nester I believe? Just apologized for the service and waitress back talking. No real apology , just said he recognized us and said sorry it happened. Last time we come here. Hard earned money can be spent anywhere. Maricela, you deserved $0! & you sure shouldn't be in customer service.

We ordered the tofu bao buns, shrimp bao buns, karaage, curry, and dessert - the bao buns were OK, but the karaage, curry, and dessert were delicious. They have the BEST bingsoo. We tried the crème brûlée bingsoo and it was amazing - not too sweet, not overly large, just the perfect size. I've tried many different bingsoos, and this one is hands down my favorite. Honestly, I probably wouldn't have discovered this place if it weren't for the Yelp Elite event, and I'm so glad I did. I'll definitely be back to try their ramen next time. Service was good, though a little slow at times even when it wasn't very busy. The space itself is huge and very roomy. One thing to note: during the winter it can get quite chilly inside since the restaurant is right next to the entrance doors - we ended up wearing our coats the entire time. To the owner: please bring back the tofu and shrimp tacos with the green sauce because they were amazing!

THE GOOD ----------------…read more+ Solid sushi, nothing spectacular, but hits the spot. ++++ Sushi Regular fish was relatively fresh on the sushi pieces, 8 in total. It also came with a choice of a regular roll. ++++ Spicy Maki Combo, which consisted of any 3 spicy rolls, did not taste or look like spicy rolls. They just looked like regular rolls, but they were still decent. There were only 4 spicy rolls to choose from though, of which I chose the Spicy Tuna, Spicy Salmon and Spicy Yellowtail. ++++ Chicken Udon was surprisingly VERY good. Even though it was just a simple chicken udon, the chicken was quite flavorful and tender. Broth was your typical miso broth/soup. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Waiters can be a little bit more enthusiastic, but food arrived pretty quick. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada.
