I ordered Kikuya off Uber Eats tonight, including edamame, takoyaki, and a dragon roll. The edamame was still super warm and yummy when it arrived. I expected the takoyaki to be crispier, but it was softer and doughier than expected. The dragon roll was super yummy. The roll featuring shrimp tempura and topped with eel, avocado, and unagi sauce, came with 8 pieces. This was definitely one of the better restaurants I've tried in Hyde Park!

Actually everything was great with our Ubereats delivery, the food, the presentation, and the neat packaging; it just may be that they need to a little more seasoning to all of the food....I would highly suggest this. I don't like to add a lot of salt to my food either way; so me saying that says a lot. I have to say I love the fact the miso and salad is included w the entree with most places I order from this is extra cost. Other than that after adding my own seasoning everything was delicious! Will def order again either way!

    Lunch Special #2 ($9.50) for Take-out

I don't often eat sushi in Hyde Park but when I'm really craving fish and going downtown is not an option, I almost always resort to Kikuya. I believe the quality of their fish is better than at any other Hyde Park sushi restaurant. They have decently-priced lunch specials, so I picked up the Lunch Special #2, which came with a tuna roll, salmon nigiri, tuna nigiri, ebi (shrimp) nigiri, and tamago (egg/omelette) nigiri plus a side salad and miso soup. All of this for only $9.50, so it's a very good value. My only criticism is that the rice could be seasoned more. I found myself dousing soy sauce and wasabi all over my nigiri to compensate for the lack of rice vinegar in the rice. But the amount of rice and actual build of the rice were on point. Kikuya will continue to serve as my go-to Hyde Park sushi place.

Best sushi place in Hyde Park! This was the first restaurant I've visited in Hyde Park and I wasn't disappointed. Staff is friendly, kitchen is fast, quality is very decent and menu is varied enough. I have become a regular at this place that offers good sushi at a moderate price. My advice: non-fried Crazy Tuna Maki!!!

On a cold, rainy day, there's nothing better than a hot, comforting bowl of ramen, and this one hit the mark. The ramen was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. The egg (non-negotiable for me), paired with edamame, and finished it off with just a touch of extra salt to bring everything together. Every slurp was satisfying. What stood out just as much as the food was the experience, quick seating, attentive service, and an atmosphere that made it easy to slow down and enjoy the moment

It's bigger than meets the eye. I ordered the Tonkotsu Premium Ramen. A little disappointed that I got a lot more fat than I did the lean meat but it was still delicious. I'm a spice girl so the chili oil on the table was put to good use. For my drink, I selected the Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea. To my surprise, it wasn't as sweet as I expected but I liked it. Subtle sweets are my favorite. The only downside was that our table was sticky and so were the menus. I understand it can get hard to upkeep certain things when you're busy, but it seemed like a chill day. Nonetheless, I'd return for the ramen. Overall 8.5/10

Sambal catfish with Cole slaw and cavitappi noodles in cheese sauce. The fish and cole slaw were very tasty. The noodles were okay. Koren Fried Chicken with pickles, corn bread, mash potatoes and gravy. The chicken was fried hard, it was a whole chicken but it was just okay in flavor. The pickle was a little weird. Mashed potatoes and gravy while I suspect they are powdered potatoes were decent on flavor. Pass on the corn bread. Lobster rangoon was pretty good. Honey Chipotle wings had a tasty sweet sauce. Fried green tomatoes was inedible, the green was too green leaving them hard, difficult to slice and bitter so we sent them back. Service was excellent, they took them away without a word and didn't charge us. Saigon noodles, best bite of the night! Tender beef, flavorful sauce, scallions and perfectly cooked noodles. Yum. Shrimp spring rolls. Just okay. Quesibirria eggrolls with tomato basil sauce, second best bite of the night. Tender meat, innovative sauce. Perfect eggroll shell. Grenada 9, spring fever, hibiscus margarita, all tasty! Lastly, there was a band. It was too loud (taking away from the dining experience especially with the acoustic feedback) and because my mother told me when you have nothing good to say, dont say anything, I'll stop there.

I've tried the drunken noodles, the vegetarian egg rolls, the pad thai with tofu, and the panang curry with tofu. The food is definitely palatable, but not very tasty or flavourful. I brought my mother who has spent a few years in Bangkok to this restaurant and she was definitely not happy, though there wasn't anything noticeably wrong with the food other than extreme blandness. One thing that I do appreciate about the restaurant is that many of the curries are made without fish sauce, which makes veganizing the dish relatively easy. The staff are also accommodating when requested to veganize dishes. Service is a mixed bag: the older woman can sometimes be curt though I have witnessed her being much kinder on other days. Reportedly, she is kind and accommodating towards families with younger kids as well as regular patrons. The quality of service is inconsistent among other servers. The ambiance is charmless and unremarkable, though the place is usually clean. The restaurant is easily accessible by public transport and the university shuttle. Overall, will likely not return. There is better and cheaper Thai and East Asian food to be had outside the neighbourhood.

Even though it's at best described as an up and coming area, it's not as bad as it looks. The prices are pretty good for how much comes in a meal. As of now it only has delivery and carryout. It's just as well, because it wouldn't be much fun eating here. This is a pretty stale environment, making it better to enjoy it somewhere you can feel comfortable and whatnot. Came by to get carryout. The best vegetarian choice is the House Special Tofu. It's about $8 at lunch. This entree is fairly simple, consisting of tofu mixed with spicy bean sauce, and vegetables such as black mushrooms. About as good as you can expect. There's a pretty good spice level and some actual flavor. Better isn't easy to find among South Side Chinese. It has the basic Americanized Chinese stuff which is pretty okay in all honesty. This is the only okay Chinese restaurant in Kenwood so it's not like there's any better around here you would choose instead.
