SPECTACULAR dinner! Amazing crab cakes cooked to perfection. The ravioli is TO DIE FOR. One of the best things I've ever eaten. Ambiance is spot-on Hawaiian. The service was wonderful and welcoming. Would be a nice date night location.

We came here for lunch. Their menu online wasn't updated and the Nicoise salad was no longer on the menu so I settled for the Cobb salad. The guava dressing was very good but the salad was mostly romaine, the toppings portion was meager. My husband ordered the fish and chips. The tartar sauce was 10/10, the fish was good but could have been a little crispier. The Liliko tea was also 10/10. Service was great. Food needs to be improved.

We've been here twice. I can't believe I didn't write a review the first time! If you come to volcano, don't miss out on the Kīlauea lodge restaurant! Tonight we brought our 20 year old kids, and they suggested we order family style. Awesome. We got edamame with futikake (seaweed and sesame seed). Delicious! Then we split 4 entrees. We voted on the ranking. Everyone liked all four dishes: 1. Fish of the day (ono) 2. Rack of Lamb 3. Steak 4. Shrimp fettuccini Oh, and we got some really good cocktails. And a delicious chocolate cake for dessert.

The turkey wrap (half) with half my Reuben in the plate. And a big piece of yummy pickle.

In the area visiting the National Park. My partner and I came in for brunch. We each got a sandwich - I got the Reuben with fries and they got the turkey wrap. The server asked if they wanted fries and my partner asked what other choices there were for sides. The server responded "onion rings or salad". My partner got the onion rings. (More about that at the end.) We split the sandwiches and the sides. Everything was outstanding. The Reuben corned beef was moist (not dried out), the bread was tasty and there was the right amount of dressing and sauerkraut. The fries were delicious, with a nice outside crunch. The wrap tasted very fresh and the onion rings were outstanding. Real onion rings, not onion bits. We ordered only water to drink and the server and a second server came over multiple times to refill our waters. The service was very good. For brunch, there is a trio (two guitars and all three sing) playing Hawaiian and non Hawaiian songs. They were outstanding. The harmonies were just terrific. The group's name is Halana. The ambience is very nice. Very warm and welcoming. One complaint. I considered docking a point for this, but everything else was so great, I'm not going to. But here it is - when a server asks you what side you want, they should tell you if one or more of the alternatives costs more. The server told us the sides were fries, onion rings or salad. He didn't mention that the onion rings cost five or more bucks more than the french fries. I got the bill and the $21 Reuben was $21 with fries. But the $20 turkey wrap was $26 with the onion rings. I wonder what the price difference would be if I ordered the side salad?? That was really disappointing. Servers should be trained to identify the price differences and not assume that it doesn't matter to the customer.

We came here for dinner the first night we got in town. The service was great. The pickled veggies were ok. The lamb was also okay. The cheesecake was soooooo good. I would come back for dessert and maybe try something else entree wise.

Food/Drinks 4/5: We came hungry after a day exploring the national park and local caves, so we ordered the Mai Tai, calamari steak app, Catch of the Day (Ono), ribeye, and apple cheesecake for dessert. The drink was not my favorite as the dark rum really changed the taste of what I expect of a standard mai tai. The calamari steak was delicious - amazing crispy outside and buttery soft inside with a nice punch of flavor from the capers and lemon. The ono was a bit disappointing - a bit chewy and lacking flavor, but mixed well with the cauliflower, raisins, and mac nuts on the plate. The real stars were the ribeye (so tender and amazing with the garlic butter on top) and the cheesecake (amazing crust with chunks of apple throughout the cheesecake layer). Service 5/5: Amazingly attentive wait staff; checked on us regularly throughout the meal to make sure waters were filled and clearing plates as soon as we were done. We did not have a reservation, but they were able to accommodate our party. Price $$$: Definitely a pricier dinner option as you're paying more for the ambiance of the restaurant. Wouldn't necessarily say the food measures up to the price, but when we came through around 6pm there weren't a lot of other open options in the area.

Staff was amazing. We stayed here so we could take our drink back to the room. Or utensils. Everyone was friendly. We came for 2 breakfast and a lunch. Loved the potatoes hash. They were out of hash browns so they did a medley of regular potatoes sweet potato and a purple potato. Very nicely done. The taro bread for French toast was so good! It was tasty food and convenient for us.

Ube MaiTai. Love it so much better than Merrimansone with lilikoi foam. Nice umami.

Great food and service. Loved the lamb chops. Not that a lot of people would complain, but portion size was too large for me, so I guess that means it's good value. We liked one of the paintings on the wall we wanted to purchase. The server told us we could in the store. Unfortunately that was incorrect and we're still trying out how to find it. The ambience depending on where you're sat is pretty good. We will go there over Rim Restaurant next visit. The art fiasco downed the star review

We love to dine here whenever we visit Volcano. The ambiance is cozy with the historical fireplace and all of the beautiful local artwork. Tonight we had excellent service from Adam. We started with the calamari steak and cheesy garlic bread. I had the fresh catch of the day, which was Ono. My husband has the chicken fettuccine. All of our food was delicious. We shared a cheesecake with Lilikoi syrup for the grand finale.

Came here for dinner and was a bit overwhelmed by the cost which didn't necessarily match the ambiance of the restaurant itself. We opted for just a drink each and a slice of cake (yes - dessert for dinner!) and it STILL was $50 :( guess that is just the nature of vacation. Service was good - our waiter was very patient with us - and the Ube topped Mai Tai was unique and fun. Wish there was more on the menu and wish I didn't have to break my wallet to get something good.

Beautiful restaurant. Very nice service. My rib eye steak was tender and delicious. Lamb chop exceptional, but drawback was $50 per head without drinks or salad so be prepared for a high tab for delicious food. Also, they have gluten free labeled items.

So the Eagles Lighthouse Cafe is no more. Let this be a eulogy then. For starters, let's go with…read morethe praise. The food was great. Nice down home cookin', reasonably priced. Now for this. The place was festooned with Bible quotes, Biblical vignettes in the windows, and the three flags of Christian Nationalism garishly out front - the US flag, the Israeli flag, and the nationalist "Plea To Heaven" flag. All paradoxically in tatters and never taken in for good keeping. It did not give off a welcome Biblical vibe though - just one of "agree with us or take it down the road." The kitchen and counter personnel were usually fairly nice people who gave great service. The owners, when they were present, gave off something entirely different. Like you were inconveniencing them by being there. Short tempered and terse if they took your order. If you read the earlier comments, you will hear of them coming unhinged and screaming at some customer about something either overblown, or imagined. They refused to pay their employees properly, with something even close to a living wage. When the Hawaii legislature finally hiked the minimum wage, they stuck out an alarmist notice written in childish green marker that they were sooooo sorry but they "had to" raise their prices a bit because the mean old Hawaii house raised the wage. And of course taxes under Biden, yada yada. In the end, the ELC was a victim of the owners' disposition. It's a very bad business model indeed, when politics, religion and greed actually get in the way of doing business. My best wishes to the employees, I really hope they can find something decent to replace this experience. For the self righteous, sanctimonious greed of the owners and operators - as Jesus said, "Yeah verily, you have your reward."

The best thing about the dinner was the view (the volcano was erupting!) and the butter. Spending $120 on a dinner you didn't enjoy hits differently. We have been noticing steak menu changes for a couple years now and we hope this is just a fluke because usually they're excellent. But none of the current steaks are as good as they weee 2 years ago. The waiter didn't seem to want to do anything about it when we said we were dissatisfied. The food was tasteless and I don't appreciate when places try to get a double tip. Food options around the area are very limited, but I encourage tourists to take a chance and explore further. This place is a great convenience for people visiting Hawaii's Volcano National Parks and are starving after a long day of sightseeing. Unfortunately, I was very let down considering the great reviews it has online. This is a food truck, so as expected, the parking is extremely limited and there are only two picnic tables available if you choose to sit down and eat. The area is nice if you don't mind eating outdoors. When I went, there were only 2 people working in the truck. They were extremely nice and did warn us about waiting times. There was a long line of people so we had to wait about 25mins for our food. Honestly, this is not inherently a problem, but be ready to wait if it's busy. Now for the food and the reason I'm giving this place a low rating. I was allowed to mix the carnitas tacos and the chicken taco plate given that they're all the same price. The chicken had a nice spice to it, but every item on the dish was very bland. The rice felt dry, the refried beans felt like they were straight out of a can, and it could have all used some salt. But the big nono was that it appears they included a tip in their total before handing the machine over to you to add a tip and pay. Unless you tell me Hawaii's tax is close to 20% (which I know it's not), I find it very disrespectful when businesses do this to their customers.
