Fish and chips are fried-to-order so it's nice and hot. Condiments are next to the pick up window and you can grab as much as you please. Price $$ - Price is fair with the portions that are served. Service 3/5 - Service is normal for a fast-food style restaurant. Ambiance 3/5 - Interior is fine, we visited around Christmas time so the interior was decorated with holiday festivities. Tables are kept clean and open. Overall - With limited options inside Volcanoes National Park, this is a quick and cheaper grub-and-go restaurant to continue your adventures inside the park, which is probably the main reason why you're visiting. This is a great affordable option in Volcanoes National Park! Although the food is just ok, the portions are large. You might be able to find tastier or more diverse food options in the restaurant or just outside of the park, but this is very convenient. The burgers are especially worth it. It is located inside the arcade area. It is open to the public. There is a seating area (about 3 circle tables that can sit 3-4 each) but lighting isn't great - it's either fluorescent lighting or the lights are off (I went twice and both the lights were very dim with some being off in the seating area next to the grill). Service is efficient. Both times I went there was only one employee working, but it was ok because I was the only customer. read more

The food was pretty good for a concessionaire at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It's located behind the temporary Kīlauea Military Camp building, in the Recreation Lodge. As you enter in through the left door, go past the arcade and enter through the left doorway to the 10 Pin Grill. Service was good. Ambiance had a hole-in-the-wall feel. Quaint diner feel. After a long day at the volcano park, food options in the area are pretty limited as places tend to close early. I was looking for a place to grab some grub and luckily found 10 Pin Grill online. Not exactly the type of spot where I wanted to be dining while vacationing in Hawaii, but heck, I felt grateful there was a place open for food. It's located at the military camp within VNP - for some reason, Google Maps initially directed me outside of the park and led me on a wild goose chase. I eventually found my way back into the park, though the grill was a bit hard to find, especially at night. I eventually found my way to a game room/arcade and realized later that it connects to the grill. Yep, it's basic bowling alley food - burgers, sandwiches, pizza, loco moco, etc. Unfortunately, multiple items were sold out by the time I got there at night, but I settled on a cheeseburger ($5.25) and bottled beer ($5). Prices are quite reasonable considering it's Hawaii AND food places were limited for the area. The food quality was as expected - not amazing, but heck, beats eating from a convenience store. There's a few tables or you can bunker up next to the alley and watch people bowl. Overall, if you're looking for some affordable basic food that's open "late" (well, late for HI standards), 10 Pin Grill's a good option. It's also a good spot to just hang out and maybe get a few bowling games in since not much else is open. read more

Stayed here 5/7/22. I thought after reading the reviews they would have upped the service but I don't know when that will be since we are fully open now. The food: all fried items were great! The gravy cheese fries were the best thing we ate from there. The breakfast items could use some flavor in the eggs and the toast was so stale. But the hasbrown was good and the bacon/spam/and sausage patty were great! This is also the only place for coffee as the cafe located in the rec room is closed. Pancakes were dry and white. The butter and syrup could not save this. Breakfast plates had eggs, rice or hasbrown, toast or English muffin, and meat. The service: I saw two people working the bowling and food at night. But the breakfast guy had to do the ordering and cooking and I'm assuming if anyone bowled he would have to cater to them too. If eating breakfast I would suggest an early 7 am arrival. We were the second to order that day at 7:11 am and waited 15 min. But the time he took the third order there was a line of 7 people. Price: everything is decently priced for being far from other restaurants. Breakfast was a steal compared to most places in Hilo. We ordered a Double Cheeseburger and a Bacon Mushroom Swiss Burger along with an order of French fries. Delicious!! The burgers came with pickles, lettuce, onions and tomato. Very juicy! Dined here on our first night at KMC as this is one of two options for food. We ordered katsu and hamburger steak. Katsu was disappointing as it only had a few small pieces of chicken. So 10 Pin Grill was our lone option for food our first night in Volcanoes if we didn't want to have something microwaveable. Typical bowling alley food in a loud, active atmosphere. Menu was pretty limited but not sure if this was due to staffing or lack of ingredients. It took a while for us to get them because the cashier was also the cook. I suppose we could have played arcade games or grabbed a beer and watched the bowlers to pass the time. In any case, once we picked up the pizzas and brought them back to our cabin they were scarfed down by our party with no photo evidence. This "restaurant" is on Kilauea Military Camp and on base which means the food is cheap but the quality is subpar because they use mostly frozen food...it's a good spot to hit especially arriving the first day at the cabin & we needed to unpack our car and get settled in. Wait times from standing in line to getting your food can take quite some time and I mean it. Hubs stood in line on the 2nd night for at least 30min. The reason is because there's one person who takes orders and cooks... In the meantime, you can get bowling shoes for $2.75/person and have some fun together with your family. We ordered Hamburger Loca Moca (2/5): Lackluster, again a reminder they use frozen beef patty and gravy didn't taste homemade at all...gravy def. came from a packet. Loaded Garlic Fries (3/5): Garlic and cheese is always a good combo in my opinion. Dozen Fried Chicken Wings (3/5): Again, frozen and adding Tabasco helped a lot along with Ranch dressing. Not the best place, but great for your money and the staff is nice. Ordered the 12 piece hot wings with 2 side scoops of rice and was happy. It was not Buffalo wings, but I prefer it that way at least this time. Also tried their bacon shroom burger, garlic fries, and chicken nuggets. Asked for a refill and no charge, saved .40, but it came back more in tip in cash. With that said, like if you pay with credit, they put a big X over the tip area, which was a pleasant surprise. read more

Food is very subpar. Staff is extremely low manned. One person to take orders, prepare meals, check in bowlers, rent shoes, assign lanes. Do all the clean up and maintenance. They really need to hire more people. Although the food is pretty bad, I think they do the best they can, and it is the best price for a meal within miles. We ate here last Monday (Veteran's Day) because the nearby cafe was having a special holiday meal for $40/person. I wasn't very hungry so we decided to cross the street and eat at 10 Pin Grill instead. Even though the food was super cheap we had to wait forever for our food, even though we just ordered fish and chips and a grilled cheese sandwich. The sandwich itself was ok but the food took over 30 minutes! They definitely need to hire another employee (at least for peak hours). More than one person was annoyed at how long it was taking. When you go bowling, eating alley food is a must! Located on the property of Kilauea Military Camp, inside the bowling alley, there's a small take out place. The menu consists of different items like plate lunch, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, and more. Pricing is pretty cheap considering on Oahu how regular plate lunches are over $10 at times. Our party of 13 decided to go bowling and grab dinner however it was packed due to the cafeteria being closed for the day. While our party was ordering their food we noticed a lot of items were out for the day. It seemed as the line kept moving up, more and more items seemed to be out? I'm guessing they're not prepared? First it was the kalbi, green salad, wings, and etc. The handwritten list was just going. Then it ended where there was no rice. What?! No rice?! How do you eat a plate lunch with no rice? I asked for one of the students if they could substitute the rice for fries and the cashier said sure but it would be a smaller portion then an order of fries. It didn't make sense. Also the ice selection on the soda machine was broken so they added an ice machine after the soda. After we ordered our food, we waited for a pretty long time. I was truly disappointed for the lack of items for the night but also how there wasn't much options. Why couldn't they just make more items for the night? When 5 to 6 items are out, shouldn't that say something? Especially when you know that is one of the only eating facilities for the night? The food was just okay. Not more to say about that. On the Kīlauea military camp, 10 pin is a super small casual lunch and dinner spot to check out in the recreation hall next to the bowling alley (open 11a-930p). Mainly burgers and fries, they do have a secret lunch plate menu (we liked the kalbi, also tried the teriyaki beef). In the entire rec hall there was only one guy doing everything - taking orders, cooking, helping with bowling issues, answering questions - and food is cooked to order so it does take a while but he's friendly and the food was decent. The cashier working the register on a Thursday night (7/14) has such poor customer service. He was not helpful and was rude. He made my family feel very uncomfortable. He was bothered I asked for ice in our drinks and told me the drinks are already cold. Then gave me a small plastic cup of ice for four drinks. He was not friendly and seemed pissed to be working here. He must hate his job. Also, it was later in the evening so we were told we couldn't order dinner plates because there was no rice. He looked at me and said no rice. I said what are you talking about and he said no dinner plates. Food wasn't bad. It's your standard bar/bowling alley type food. read more

Looking at previous reviews it has changed a ton since Covid. At 7:30pm on a Monday was staffed by two friendly and helpful people, them being the only saving grace of this review. ***Hidden Gem in the park*** Located inside the Kilauea military camp off of Crater Rim dr. Take the first entrance into the camp. -right at the apts. -follow signs to general store (left around the circle of grass). -left into general store parking entrance. -Park in front of the recreation lodge/Java cafe. -Walk to he left of the building and the bowling and grill are on the side. After reading the disappointing reviews for the Crater Rim Cafe we looked for another option. Let's be honest, there isn't many food options around. We called here and they said they had burgers and pizza at a cheap price so we were on our way. Both of us got a double cheeseburger ($5) and fries ($2.25). My toddler devoured her grilled cheese ($3.25). I had very little expectations and was just happy to have food without driving forever. WOW, seriously impressed! This was hands down the BEST cheeseburger I have had for $5 in a long time. It comes with cheese, tomato, lettuce, onion and pickles. They have a good selection of food, from burgers and pizza to $8 plate lunches. Wish I had found this place sooner. I know it's part of the military camp but we didn't show any ID and they seemed happy to have a customer. Try your luck civilians it's worth it! Especially after a long day in the park it was a great meal for so cheap! They also have bowling for $3 pp and $1.75 shoe rental. There's a self serve gas station around the corner too. read more

Located on KMC mainly for the greasy-bowling play-drink-eat crowd. We were out of options in the area and decided this was our best bet. We ordered the pizza and it took awhile to come out. It was their Hawaiian version of a pizza. I can't say I've eaten cardboard in awhile but thankfully we were hungry. It was filling and the price wasn't bad, but I felt like I could've made it better. Okay, I consider each restaurant with a very open mind when I review them. This is not a biased review so I will explain why I gave this restaurant a two star review. My family and I waited for fifteen minutes at the stand up counter before we were acknowledged. I asked about two different entree choices and the guy spoke so fast we could not understand him as he also had a big unprofessional frown on his face. So after placing my order for the three of us, I asked him to cash a larger bill for me so I could leave a tip, which I did and there was no acknowledgement at all as I placed the tip in the tip jar in front of him. He didn't even say thank you after I placed the order and paid for it. I also ordered a beer and he told me to pick it up at the order window. I waited for fifteen minutes and no beer so I asked about it and had to ask the cook where my beer was and the same guy who took my order finally brought it to the window. This guy needs to learn some good customer service skills! The restaurant was not busy and yet we waited for thirty minutes before our fast food order was ready.
