Best pineapple Thai seafood curry!!! It's super delicious. If you're in the national park, must visit. We ordered take out and ate in the park but it's a full sized restaurant with seating. Spring rolls were heavenly!

A great find outside of Volcanos National Park. Family run. Incredible service, super clean and great food. One of the best Cosmos I've ever had-superb. Don't miss this gem. They also have a "Western Menu" in case you have picky eaters in your group. Love this place.

I've been looking for nice Asian food for my parents while traveling in Big island. I could choose restaurants very limited because they have very picky tastes. They wanted try American or Italian or Chinese or etc but seems like they didn't really like it. I found this place on the Yelp. Looks nice My family was enjoying this place food. Maybe we choose great menu. I really recommend this place whoever visit volcano area. Papaya salad was really great and this is my all the time favorite menu anywhere else but this place papaya salad was outstanding. Tom yam soup also outstanding but a bit small plate. Pad Thai was great too. Thai iced tea was so so. Very big restaurant but very quiet place. Our waitress was super friendly. Definitely go back this place again if I travel to here again.

A classic third generation owned and operated Thai restaurant. Pride in quality authentic Thai cuisine and cleanliness. This is by far the best Thai restaurant on island. I live two hours away; as a lifetime resident I am not in a hurry to grab and go my dining offerings. I love to sit inside; look at the photos of the family history and smell the smells of fresh lemon grass, bayleaf and all of the aromatics used in this scrumptious bowl of Thom Gah Soup. The sticky rice is divine. Service from Pan and family, precise. Slow food. Be kind. These are beautiful people with Aloha. I will always return time and again to Thai Thai Bar and Bistro. The finest authentic Thai island-wide.

This is a weekly spot for us. It's my comfort food. It's my safe place. This place is pricy! But If you are visiting the park you don't have many options in the area. Dishes are full of flavor. Plenty of food to fill you up. All the meats are ono. Shrimps are huge and they give you a lot of them. Chicken is tender and delicious. Mahi is good as well. Firm white fish. Small hot is quite spicy. some days are hotter than others. Highly recommend the soups. My only complaint is getting 1/3 of the container aromatics. For $25 I would be able to eat all of it. The fried wontons and spring rolls are NOT worth it in my opinion.

    Chicken pad thai

Overpriced for mediocre Thai food but they are one of the only restaurant to still be open in the evening. The Thai iced tea was delicious but the food was not. I had the chicken pad thai which was average and bland. My partner had the pad kee mao but beware that their medium spicy is very spicy.

we got the green papaya salad ($17) and the pad thai ($25) and unfortunately I wouldn't say they were worth the 40 minute wait (takeout only). the pad thai was kind of hard and so was the green papaya. bonus points for the huge portions though

Tastes good but pricey. Still much better than the food trucks in the area though. If you are in volcano, I think a visit is worth it.

My wife and I stopped by for pre-dinner drinks and we absolutely loved the drinks that we were able to try out. I started out with a cocktail called the "Spam Dram", a crispy Spam fat-washed barrel-proof bourbon, combined with seared Spam and nori syrup and topped off with a spam musubi garnish. As one might guess, this drink was presented in a spam musubi tin, and atop the bed of crushed ice was an *entire* spam musubi. The drink was a perfect representation of spam musubi in a glass -- sweet, savory, and full of umami. Props to whichever bartender put together this creative drink. The next drink I ordered was the "Smoky Bear", another bourbon based cocktail. This one had bird's eye chili essence in it, and was much closer than your traditional Old Fashioned, except it had an incredible amount of smokiness and a punch of heat to it as well. If you enjoy stiff drinks with complexity, look no further than this cocktail. While we were seated at the bar, we overheard somebody close to us mentioning a password special that had been posted on the Instagram page of The Hidden Nene. We checked their latest story posted two hours earlier and the password special for the day was a "fizz me baby one more time", a strawberry and yuzu gin fizz. My wife ordered this cocktail as her second drink and loved how refreshing the drink tasted. Overall, if you consider yourself a cocktail connoisseur, you owe it to yourself to check out The Hidden Nene if you're in Hilo.

The southern most bar and restaurant in the US…read more We stopped by the bar/restaurant after hiking around Volcano National Park, it is on the way back to Kona. The bar has a local feel, you can spot the tourists. The space is a good size, airy with a center bar, a couple flat screens with the games on. Super friendly staff, hustling while still giving great service. Our server recommended a hard topical juice, which I've never had and was great. The drinks and food came out quickly. My friend and I split the fish and chips, made with Ono, which is a bit meatier (be prepared if expecting flakier fish) and was fresh and hot, with plenty of lemon and tar tar sauce. Mahola to the wonderful, hard working staff! Great place to stop if you are in the area, with a side brag of the southern most drink.

First of all, this town is pretty isolated so there aren't a lot of choices. It's a decent sized…read morerestaurant that's frequented by locals and an older clientele (at least it was on Sunday). They have a pretty big menu to order from as it is a full five pages. I ordered the Eruption burger. It's two 7 oz patties, with ham, bacon, egg, jalapeños, pico de gallo, & LTO. I ordered mine medium rare. It arrived well done. They also forgot the egg; in fact, didn't even ask me how I wanted the egg cooked. It was okay. I think it would have been much better if they got the temperature right because it was a bit dry. The chili cheese fries looked great but they were as bland as could possibly be. The chili had no flavor. The cheese, although properly melted, also lacked any distinctive taste. Even after generously seasoning with salt, pepper and hot sauce, it didn't have much flavor. The fries themselves were also underwhelming. Not crispy, not firm but slightly mealy. My friend said the club sandwich was how a club sandwich should be made. It was better than most but not great. (The standard is pretty low.) It looked as if there was a shift change when we arrived and at least three employees were clocking out. That left the bartender and one server for the entire restaurant and most of the tables were full (at 5:00 on Sunday night). Unfortunately, this was reflected in the service. Again, not a lot of choices in this town so I would probably give it another shot when in the area. For this visit, I would give it a 3/5 stars.
