It is also dog friendly. Pretty much dirt trails, so after rains, it can get muddy, but we are in Texas, so that only happens occasionally. You can get several miles in on the various trails. Others are friendly and willing to point you in the right direction. I've been here a couple of times now and enjoyed both times. I do recommend hiking with someone else in case of emergencies. You never know when you might come across a snake, so be safe!

The dog park is sectioned into big and little dog, but people often bring their under 30 pound dogs into the large section. Don't be surprised if a dog starts chasing your little rat dog like it's a squirrel when you break the rules. The people are generally much better than those at the park in Killeen. The owners are pretty responsive to dog behaviors and understand the difference between play and aggression. This park dries quickly after a rain and you aren't often left with giant smelly mud puddles. One of the dog water spouts is always clogged while the other just doesn't work. Bring your own water and bowl!! There's a great kids playscape close to the dog park to make this place a family go-to along with the YMCA where you can sign your offspring up for classes. A lovely mile long loop circles the park with mature trees and beautiful neighborhoods in the backdrop.

If you want absolute quiet and a nice place to relax, this park might just be for you…read more While you won't find sandy beaches and a roped off swim area, you will find: -Quiet places to set up day camp with LOTS of space between you and others -A very quiet lake (it gets a bit more noisy on weekends, but still nothing compared to Lake Belton. The "beach" is made up of large white limestone rocks which can make it tricky to set up for the day, but this is what keeps most other people out. :) Bring your own shade as there are NO large trees or shaded picnic areas. A beach umbrella can be set up near the water and a pop-up shade tent can be set up-at a level picnic table. There is a small, brick-sided restroom house on the premises. The best part about this park? IT'S FREE! There is no fee for using the lake area or the boat ramp. But, shhhhh! Don't tell everyone. :)

There is a nice-sized children's play area, and there are two baseball fields for local games. The facilities in this park are up-to-date and clean. There is only one restroom building along the trail. Doggie bag stations and trash cans line the trail but there are no drinking fountains. There is ample parking for any day of the week. Overall, you will find this park to be less crowded than some of the other area parks.

This park appears to be catering to the children because they have a playground, then they have a creekbed that I see some children playing in, open fields that children can run around. I spotted some deer walking out in plain sight not bothered by the people. I ended up walking on the road where vehicles frequently passed me by. Not very safe, but I wanted to get some exercise in. It's in a cute part of Salado that looks old-timey. The park was within a residential area since there were houses inside the park grounds. It is maintained with cut grass and plenty of parking.
